Looking for the cheapest platform to build a simple D2C website

I sell my products on Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, etc. under my own brand. Most order fulfillment is done by Amazon and Flipkart warehouses. Some customers have started asking why I don't have my own website, so I want to create a basic D2C website mainly for brand presence and to handle occasional organic orders.

I don't plan to run Meta/Google ads or actively acquire customers through the website. I also don't want to handle logistics, RTO management, fulfillment etc. myself beyond processing the orders that naturally come through the website.

Basically, I want a simple website where:

- I can connect my own domain

- Customers can browse my products

- I can accept and process occasional organic orders

- I can integrate a payment gateway

- The website looks reasonably professional

- Monthly cost is as low as possible

Shopify seems unnecessarily expensive for this use case.

I'm currently looking at platforms like Instamojo, Dukaan, etc. What would you recommend for this kind of "just need a website to exist" D2C setup?

Would appreciate suggestions based on actual experience, especially regarding the lowest ongoing monthly cost + ease of use + custom domain support.

How to write plan of action?

I have received email that says one of my products, has received multiple complaints from customers that they received completely different product and/or damaged product. Amazon has asked me to submit plan of action.

I plan to write these two things:

  1. I will Accept that secondary QC check didn't happen because it relied on single employee picking, packing and shipping for both FBM and FBA consignments. So, we will now do secondary QC check by engaging another employee.

  2. We will apply better coushiniong with bubble wrap for both FBM shipment and on products sent to FBA in consignment.

Please suggest how can I write better POA. Are the above stated actions sufficient?

Kinnar (Hijda) asking for money for opening shop

I run an online business and recently rented a small shop to use as a warehouse in saraspur (near Bapunagar) area.

A group of kinnars came to the shop while I wasn't there. My employee was present. They called me and demanded ₹5,000 for the opening of the new shop.

I felt that amount was unreasonable, especially since the business is still not profitable. When I refused, they became increasingly aggressive. I told them that if they continued pressuring me, I would call the police.

Their response was basically, "Go ahead, call the police. We don't care." They then said they would come back later, possibly with more people.

I'm a law-abiding person who has never been involved in conflicts, and honestly the situation has made me quite anxious. My employee is also worried about what might happen if they return.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? What is the best way to handle it legally and safely if they come back?

Got fssai license without agent but at the cost of time

I recently got my FSSAI State License (Retailer + Wholesaler, Gujarat) without using any agent and without paying any bribes.

Almost every agent I spoke to quoted ₹15,000-20,000 and claimed they could get it done in 5-7 days. I decided to do it myself instead.

The actual government fee was around ₹2,000. The trade-off was time. It took nearly 3 months for the license to be approved.

My experience is that you don't necessarily need an agent. If you spend some time understanding the requirements, prepare the documents in the formats specified on the FoSCoS/FSSAI portal, and the process can be completed on your own.

So if you're starting a food business and are willing to wait longer, you can potentially save a significant amount of money by applying yourself. Just be prepared for a slower timeline compared to what agents promise, because agents can connect directly with the officials.

Can fasting really help lose weight?

I completed two prolonged water-only fasts, one last month and one this month. In both cases, I lost around 3-4 kg during the 7-day fast.

However, once I started eating normally again (same diet as before), my weight gradually returned to what it was before the fast.

I'm trying to understand whether prolonged fasting is actually effective for fat loss or am I doing something wrong.

Startup india someone should do - Company owned cabs app

Social media is absolutely flooded with complaints about Ola, Uber, and Rapido. The aggregator model might give drivers freedom and ownership, but for customers, the system has completely fallen apart.

Here is what a typical ride hailing experience looks like today:

* Drivers accepting your booking and then forcing you to cancel the ride.

* Arriving at the location only to demand extra cash above the shown app fare.

* Flat out refusing to turn on the AC to save fuel.

* Cars that are incredibly unhygienic, smelly, and poorly maintained.

* Almost zero chance of getting a ride accepted for short distances.

* Absolutely no accountability from the drivers.

* Forced offline trips where they ask you to cancel on the app and pay them directly via UPI to avoid commissions.

* Unprofessional behavior and reckless driving with zero fear of being penalized by the platform.

I lived in the UAE for two years, and the cab experience there was flawlessly smooth. The reason it works so well is that all the cabs are owned by companies, and the drivers are salaried employees.

Recently, I visited Coimbatore and experienced the stark difference firsthand. I booked an Uber from the airport to my hotel. The driver immediately demanded extra fare, leading to a 10 minute argument right at the start of my trip. On top of that, the AC was not working. It was a genuinely miserable welcome to the city.

I asked for advice on Reddit, and locals suggested I use Red Taxi instead. For the rest of my trip, I exclusively used them, and it was a night and day difference. The AC worked perfectly, the drivers were polite and in proper uniforms, and nobody asked for a single extra rupee.

As a founder constantly analyzing business operations and market gaps, my conclusion is clear. The Ola and Uber model is inherently hostile to the customer. When a company actually owns the fleet and employs the drivers, real quality control exists.

India desperately needs a nationwide, company owned cab app. This is a brilliant Startup India opportunity just waiting for someone to take it up.

Fake pickup attempt marked, which is affecting late dispatch rate on Amazon India

Amazon India Seller Support keeps rejecting my FBM pickup dispute based only on incorrect geolocation coordinates shared by their internal team.

The coordinates they shared actually belong to a neighboring industrial/transit hub building, not my actual pickup location. No pickup associate came to my premises, but Amazon marked pickup attempted, causing Late Dispatch Rate (LDR) impact.

I have:

- Actual pickup address

- Google Maps proof of wrong coordinates

- Evidence that coordinates belong to nearby common parcel collection hub

- Multiple affected order IDs

Seller Support keeps copy-pasting the same response without proper investigation.

Has anyone successfully escalated something like this in India? Which escalation path actually works:

- Executive escalation?

- Account Health?

- Legal notice?

- Consumer complaint?

Also, what actually happens if LDR becomes extremely high, like 50-70% due to false pickup attempts or logistics issues?

Can Amazon suspend the account immediately, suppress listings, or permanently damage account health even if seller is not at fault?

Would appreciate real experiences from sellers who faced Easy Ship pickup disputes or false pickup attempt scans.

Pickup associate didn't come for pickup. Amazon increased late dispatch rate

A few of my SKUs are fulfilled through FBM. On May 5, the pickup associate did not collect the shipment, and Amazon marked the orders as “Late Dispatch.” I contacted Seller Support, and they claimed the pickup associate had arrived at my location based on geolocation data. However, in reality, no pickup was attempted. I did not receive any call from the associate, and nobody visited my warehouse for pickup.

How can I prove to Amazon that the pickup associate never actually attempted the pickup, despite the geolocation claim?

What happens if the FBA defect rates goes above acceptable defect rate?

One of my employees may have made a counting mistake and possibly sent extra units in an FBA shipment. I currently have a 0.75% defect rate, while the acceptable rate shown is 0.86%, so it feels like there is not much margin for error left.

I want to understand what actually happens if the defect rate goes above the acceptable threshold.

Does Amazon:

issue only warnings first?

charge penalties?

temporarily block shipment creation?

suspend specific ASINs?

or suspend FBA/account privileges entirely?

Would appreciate hearing real experiences from sellers who have dealt with this.

I’ve been running everything solo so far, handling picking, packing, shipping, and even creating consignments for both merchant fulfilled and Amazon/Flipkart fulfilled orders.

Now that order volume is growing, it’s getting difficult to manage everything alone. I’m planning to hire someone part-time (11 AM to 2 PM) mainly to handle merchant fulfilled orders, with occasional help on FBA/FBF consignment creation.

What would be a reasonable salary to offer for this kind of role? Also, I’ve been finding it surprisingly hard to get someone who is at least 12th pass and willing to work part-time. Any suggestions on hiring?
