Not moving over for Emergency Vehicles

Okay, this seems to be a bit of an ongoing thing. I was coming up the New England highway just passed blue Mountain Heights.

You could hear an ambulance coming looking in the revision mirror and your side mirror. You could see it flying up the range lights flashing sirens on.

Dip shit in the right hand lane refused to move over to the left hand lane plenty of room. The ambulance has gone flying up. This guy’s bum beeping his horn flat sirens flashing. He refuses to move. Eventually the ambulance goes to move to the left to overtake.

This apparently panics the driver of the white Camry who pulls to the right into the cement barrier

The ambulance just kept going good for him. The guy’s car wasn’t too badly damaged. I don’t think but clearly some injuries to his car.

How is it people in this day and age cannot hear and see emergency vehicles and how can they not know to move out of the bloody way?

Oh, that’s right. It was an Uber driver and he had headphones on.

Waltzing Matilda

I was saddened today to read an article on the Wallabies and it showed a group of fans singing Waltzing Matilda underneath. There was a young lady who had commented. She’d never heard the song. Didn’t know what the problem was and had no idea what it represented.

People tried to educate a nicely to say it was an Australian bush poem. It was taught in Australian schools. It’s the unofficial national anthem.

And then she said that she grew up in Australia and had attended school here and had never heard it and didn’t know why people thought it was so great

At that point, I was kind of hoping that they were joking

Has it gotten to the point now where Australian poetry is not taught in Australian schools in English where the man from Snow River Waltzing Matilda they’re not taught in schools any more

And then someone commented that Wilson Matilda can’t be taught in schools because it has themes of suicide and it’s too hard to explain to children

Probationary 1st Dan

zen Do Kai

I know it’s not the most awesome martial art out there, but it’s the only one that had session when I could get here there.

But you would all appreciate my daughter who is 12 just passed her Prob 1st Dan black belt.

She has been training in this for 5 years.

I am so bloody glad I convinced her to do a martial art, rather then dancing after she decided hockey and her were to part ways.

I as a mother feel so much better knowing she will have a bloody fighting chance if she’s ever in a bad situation.

GP and other therapists

Just out of curiosity, but does anyone else think that because the NDIS is federal and most of the medical things are state that they’re trying to push back on each other as in each of them is trying to avoid paying for help and support and just blaming state versus federal excuse

And do GP and therapy support people even know or understand really what is covered under what?

The biggest line we hear is mental health is still the responsibility of the mainstream health .. state.. but they don’t do shit?

Ex sent this to son ugh!

Ok so our child m15 was with me for my week. About 3 days in to the week in the school holidays my ex called our son and asked him to drive to town to get wire and posts and to then return to the farm and help him fix the fence.

Our son had said no, as he and I were cleaning the shed, and he had chores.

My ex said ok, hung up, then sent him this text

That’s fine, mate. That’s your decision to make like I said, your decisions have consequences in life. And you have to learn to live by your decisions on what you make.

I was a bit surprised and concerned.

Difference between working line and show

My kids still want a golden retriever I’m still not convinced. I’m more of an Australian cattle dog or a Rottweiler type person.

I do think they’re adorable dog, but I’m just not convinced that they’re going to do what I need them to do

When you’re comparing your show lines and you’re working lines do you find that there’s a difference in personalities or the ability to switch from? I love everybody to hey you might want to back off or is there just no? Hey? You might want to back off mode it’s just I love everybody every second.

Is it possible for a golden to have a mode or do they have that ability to sense the difference between someone who’s genuinely welcome in the property versus? Hey this is unusual. This person shouldn’t be here.

Merit pools. Are they automatic

I applied for an APS role and it was advertised as ongoing, non-ongoing as well as as full-time and part-time

I was offered a non-ongoing with the option to extend the contract if needed.

Being that it was a full service interview candidate selection type job interview doesn’t the rules say that a Ehret pool would have to be created out of those that weren’t offered ongoing?

I’ve just spoken to a few people and just out of curiosity they’ve said that this department never had met pools. They’ve never needed them.

I’ll ask my team leader and see if they have an answer, but I’m just curious.

Outdoor play

Looking for ways to get my little one outside when she is bigger.

Do you have dedicated places during the day? For sun and fun

Do you do let loose and follow?

Do you not go outside at all. ?

E-bikes (not pedal assist)

There is so many around. I know I am old. But blimey, they are getting out of control. Push bikes, you can see.. Motorcycle ls you can see…

These things seem to be dark grey and black.

My other issue is safety. These kids are going 30+ klm/hr.. no safety gear… no full face helmets..

They hit the dirt.. it’s gunna hurt.

I have no idea about a solution. My kid wants one. Nope. Not happening. He has a motorcycle in the farm, with all his gear but says nah mum… don’t need safety stuff .. they don’t go fast enough 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

But also.. where the hell are these kids getting the money to buy these things!!!
