Modifying table for sewing machine, ideal position from table edge?
So I'm *real* short and got a lot of neck and back pain from having my sewing machine at "regular" table height, always hunching over. I found this height adjustable, extendable table in the classifieds, and figured that the height works, plus I can now sink the machine, a previously unknown luxury. I obviously need to fill in the openings in front of and behind the machine, but I'm unsure what would be the ideal position with regards to distance between the edge of the table and the machine. My instinkt would be to place it so my forearms can rest on the table, and I can see the needle while upright, is that correct? I already have task lighting via a light up magnifying glass, I just haven't reinstalled it yet, and I'm sitting in an ergonomic chair. The area to the right (I'm righthanded) would be for tools, and when I'm done sewing, the table slides back together and I can use it for crafting, or my actual job (ew).
