Made NPCs spot the player's workout, but it looks so stupid…

I'm currently making a weight lifting simulator, and I think NPC interaction will be one of the main sources of fun. This is a clip of an NPC spotting the player — apologies if it looks dumb… (They can reject your request, though.)

The next interaction I'm working on lets players spot NPCs and earn cash, so they can build a side hustle alongside their professional powerlifting career.

Would love to hear your feedback! The game is Ego Lifting Simulator.

Wasted a few days on “fake work,” but I’m proud of it lol

This is completely irrelevant to the features my game actually needs, but I still spent a few days turning myself into this animation.

I guess I can call it burnout prevention... All solo devs procrastinate from time to time, right?

Self-taught blender this year, and I finally turned myself into an animation!

Animation is made through rigify, and I love this tool so much! Still a lot of room to polish the animation, but I am proud that I am making real progress.

Reached the 1st milestone of my lifting career sim!

Hi solo dev folks, I am glad to share that I just released the demo of my game Ego Lifting Simulator, a physics-driven lifting career sim!

To prevent scope creep as a solo dev, I set a goal a few months ago of releasing the demo before August. Even after rounds of playtesting with my friends and polishing, the demo still feels so “tiny” and “buggy”. However, those feedback loops made me realise how critical it is to get data from real players to make my game better, and to keep me from falling down the solo dev rabbit hole. (At this point, I’m the least reliable person to judge my own game…)

It’s quite scary that releasing the demo actually means the start of another marathon, tougher than the one I just finished - but still, let’s celebrate the small wins to keep ourselves sane!

Released the demo for my lifting game!

Here’s the trailer for my game Ego Lifting Simulator, a physics-driven lifting career sim where you train hard to compete in lifting competitions!

After a few iterations of internal playtesting with my friends, I realized I need much more feedback, even if it's brutal, to figure out where this game should head.

The demo itself still needs a lot of polish, but I released it today anyway to prevent endless scope creep. I would be very grateful if you have any ideas or feedback to share!

Muscle growth effect after a heavy workout!

Hi solo dev folks, here’s a muscle growth animation effect from my game. The growth amount is exaggerated for showcase purposes.

It triggers when players wake up the next morning after a heavy training session the night before. Does it look rewarding?

I am also wondering if players might get bored of it too quickly, since the effect can play every morning after training. Would love to hear your thoughts!

NPC gym rats are driving me crazy…

Just implemented the first version of NPC gym rats in my physics-based lifting game!

They do make the gym feel way more dynamic, but I'm pretty sure this will send me into several rounds of debugging hell before they become less insane...

Right now, I’m designing it so players can’t use equipment that an NPC is already using. Maybe later, as your character gets more jacked, you’ll have a better chance of taking it over.

Do you think the NPCs would be too annoying? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Trying to make fatigue visible through physics w/o UI

I’ve been improving the fatigue system for my game, Ego Lifting Simulator!

The wobble is intentionally exaggerated, do you think it is too much?

Next step is recording ugly struggling audio myself, because I think sound can do a lot of the heavy lifting here.

Would love to hear feedback from you all, if any!

Made a squat competition to close out my demo (and recorded the crowd noise myself)

Implemented the squat competition for my lifting game — it's the final part of my demo's vertical slice. I recorded all the crowd murmuring myself, though I'm a little worried it sounds too dumb. (breathing SFX coming soon)

Honestly the scene still feels a bit flat to me, so any ideas for improvements are very welcome!

Maxed out the speed for each workout, which one looks the best?

Cheers to the weekend, solo dev folks. Here's a clip of each workout at max speed in my game Ego Lifting Simulator! Considering speed this crazy should only be possible after roids though... Would love to hear your thoughts!

Working on the squat competition for my lifting game — does the squat feel alright?

I am working on a ragdoll weight lifting game and it's a clip of the squat competition. Still have a lot to improve, but I would love to hear feedback from you all! (New to 3D art, art critique is also welcome)

The QA process for my weight lifting simulator

Please feel free to let me know what are the better ways to build a good simulator!

Which gym bro would you pick? (Character selection screen for my lifting game)

It's the character selection screen of my game, and each character has a faster growth rate for specific muscle groups. Which one looks the most interesting? I’m afraid no one will pick the third character...

The feature I am afraid of shipping…

Hi solo dev folks, would love to share a super dumb gameplay clip (maxing out left arm muscles), please watch it just for fun! Players might hate this…

Added face expression and flush effect, does it feel alright?

It’s a clip of muscle flush effect when stamina drains in my weight lifting game. I’d love to hear how it feels!

I’m still learning Blender modeling as a noob, so art feedback is more than welcome.

I feel offended by my own character in my game

Testing pull-up physics for my lifting game and immediately recognized left side LV0 dude is exactly me in a real gym... Felt so personally attacked by my own game.

Anyone who is real-life LV99 here?

The game I am working on is Ego Lifting Simulator, and this guy is training his squat hard to compete in lifting competitions!

The knees, the bar, the butt — I guess none of them will satisfy serious powerlifters. Which is, honestly, the whole point of this game.

I am making a physics-driven "ego lifting simulator"! I realized most gym related games don’t have the process of racking stuff up, loading the plates, etc. So I included these “pre-workout” routine that player must finish to actually do their desired workout. Do you think it’s too tedious?

PS: Still experimenting with proper input scheme that is fun to control the military squat, any idea for input is welcome!
