What killed my maple?

This maple and its buddy to the left have been growing here since before we bought the house. For some reason this one just died, one half at a time - I removed the obv dead trunks on the right hoping the other part would live but it didn’t.

Looking at the base, it looks rotted. Disease? Or just not enough water in the summer here - it doesn’t get sprinkled here but that never seemed to bother it before. It’s a smaller leafed maple - it it would help with disease ID I can grab some photos of the leaves.

Any ideas?

What Happened at Bonita Park last night?

At about 8:40 I drove by and there was a cop frisking a naked guy up against a car stopped right at the intersection, and then three more cops came tearing down Bonita from Hall, sirens blaring.

It was very exciting but I hope nobody got hurt. What was going on???

My bro got $100 for this at a local antique shop

He was told this was a commemorative type item given as commemoration, not especially old. I told him to ask here, but does he listen to me? (No)

So how did he do? Sorry I don’t have more angles or really any other photos at all. I know that would be helpful.

Edit: I have no idea how he came to own in the first place, however. Nor how much he paid for it.

I need help ordering at TacoTime

Something that in my experience is distinctly PNW is the fast food chain TacoTime. Yea I’ve seen them in other places, but not as prevalently as here.

And I know they are beloved by some, and not only as a creature comfort they remember from childhood.

Y’all probably have your favorite items…so can you help me figure out what to order, because I must be doing something wrong. I’m fluent in Taco Bell, but have not been able to find an item at TacoTime that I like well enough to go back.

What are your TT cravings? What must I try??

EDIT: I did not predict this outpouring of love and fab recommendations! I will try them all. Oh yes, I will.

Before I silicone the heck outta this..,

The screws in the mounting plate underneath this fixture are not level. The tiny little screw that attaches this fixture to the mount is not strong enough to keep it from wiggling off level.

I can’t think of what to do other than put a bead of silicone around the four sides where it meets the tile. Does anybody have any better ideas or hacks on how to keep this fixture level?

It’s very obvious, of course, when it wiggles out out of alignment with the grout in the tile.

The playoffs make strange bedfellows

Because I’m half Canadian I have always had a Canadian team - typically the Leafs because I grew up near Tronna in the Sittler era. But that does not diminish my loyalty to my adult/chosen team, the Kings, who I followed closely before and during their rebuild when I lived there. I was at the prospects game in El Segundo when Kopi and Patrick Sullivan first wowed the home crowd.

So who to root for in the playoffs? Always have to give a Canadian team some love - and it’s easy to cheer for the Habs’ young team. (Plus Danault!)

But I can’t believe I’m also cheering for the Ducks. I know…blasphemy. But I’ve never been a fan of the Knights largely due to my love for the Kings. And watching the ducks right now is pretty fun. They totally ran over the Oilers, which was pleasant after seeing the Kings repeatedly eliminated in the first round by them.

Hey, I’m here to watch the best hockey in the world, at the best time of the year. Go Ducks…for now.

I was driving through Tacoma yesterday on I-5, a bit punchy after a long weekend of travel, and for the first time in my life realized that if you simply added the letter N at the end of ‘Tacoma’, it would spell TacoMan.

57 years old, 20+ living in the PNW. First time I ever saw TacoMan.
