Buy nothing groups? Cheap bags in my area?

I volunteer with a local food injustice organization (food not bombs wilmington) and there have been a lot of requests lately by our unhoused neighbors for extra bags (tote, backpack, duffle, reusable shopping) and i’d like to see what i can get. i have a small budget, but a lot of extra art supplies i don’t need and i can offer baked goods in exchange if anyone has extra bags they don’t need. Located in newark, any pointers are so appreciated.

joyce manor, wilmington DE 8/18

i’ve been staring at these for too long. i had a weird, complicated day where i originally intended on just sneaking my camera inside the venue because my friend gave me a $10 ticket(bad idea, i know..) but then my friend on assignment with a publication approached me last minute at the show because their photographer for the night couldn’t make it. i only brought a 16-28mm f2.8 lens because it was the smallest one i had and most low profile for sneaking it in. so i had to make that work. the venue did not allow us to be in front of the barricade also, so i had to shoot from the crowd (2nd row was the best i could get) with these wide angles. I’m not sure if these will be accepted or featured by the magazine, i’ve never worked for a publication before and this was so last minute

i also had a health issue flare up halfway through joyce manors set and had to sit down or i’d throw up. so i didn’t get nearly as many good images as i wanted to

settings were between 1/200-1/250 the whole time, f2.8 constantly, and iso 6400-8000 depending on the scene . shot with r6mkiii

+ looking for editing criticism. i’m not good at heavily editing photos and color correction yet, it always looks weird to me.

(selling) is this buyer sketchy?

I have a camera i’m selling , i don’t use it anymore because i upgraded. I included shutter count, proof of shutter count, images of the camera & its condition in the listing.

The buyer offered me 1.1k, then when i accepted the offer they asked for more information on the condition that was already in the listing. they then sent me a screenshot of a notes app, asking me to email images and videos to another email address.

also when i got the offer it said the buyer was located in florida, now its saying something about australia??

looking for critique and tips (shot from crowd)

background: I’m a student currently, 20F, taking photography courses at my local community college. i’ve been doing concert photography non professionally for 2 years now, building up my skills and improving my gear. Because i’m a student, i have a college fund my grandparents set up and i can pay for my gear with that. i currently use a canon r6 mark iii and borrowed my schools 24-70 2.8 lens for these photos, if i don’t have that i usually swap between a 35mm f2 ef and a 50mm f1.8 rf

This is the anthony green “this tour won’t save you” atlantic city date, 7/23. i had VIP and was close to first in line so i got near the stage , there was no barricade and the venue allows professional cameras. Because i was so close i was kind of crowded near the stage though, and couldn’t move to get different angles. i’m still fairly proud of these , though!

first photo was 1/320, f3.5, iso 8000? idk why those were my settings, looking back i probably could’ve widened it up and lowered shutter speed. not sure what my second photos settings were, i don’t have the raw file on hand. edited both in lightroom and denoised like hell

Vip?

A bit confused at the wording for the vips this tour, would the photo op be the same as a meet and greet or different? i have a gift for anthony and id really love to make sure i meet him

do these culottes look dumb ??

I bought these culottes from old navy because i’ve always been a fan of the “obscenely long / baggy jorts” look. i usually dress pretty punk and i thought they’d suit my style, but looking at them on i’m
not sure. they’re longer than i wanted, partially because i sized up to a 24 when im usually a 20/22 but also they’re just Long. I kind of like them low rise with my belly out though? i feel like it’s kind of embracing my size when i usually hide my belly. Idk. feedback please!

Size / clothing info: shirt xxl, culottes size 24 women’s. both from old navy

what’s going on with “Tony?”

big matt johnson fan here, never been too into a24 as a brand . watched a few movies , but don’t follow too closely. With tony coming out so soon (august 7th), i’m kind of worried about the lack of marketing. other a24 movies seemed to have way more than just a trailer? i don’t even know where i can watch it yet. it doesn’t seem like they have a lot of faith in it.. am i wrong?

part time jobs in Newark (where do i look?)

I’m 20, looking for a job. preferably something to do with marketing or graphic design, that’s what i’m most experienced in and getting an education for. Whenever i look on indeed, it’s just nursing positions and stuff i’m not qualified for. is there somewhere else i should be looking? i’d be fine with retail or something minimum wage at this point , i just haven’t been able to find Anything. the job market is so bad .

community college certificates or 4 year degree?

i’m 20F, and have been really into photography. i know it’s not the most profitable career, but it’s something i’m passionate about.

I’m currently almost done my first certificate at a community college (professional photography certificate) and i’ve been getting great grades and making good connections here at the college.

I’m torn between going to a 4 year school after i’m done my first certificate (looking at the state university local to me, or a dedicated art school) or staying at the community college, getting 2-3 more certificates in things related to my field, then building a career from that. I was looking at the web design, graphic design, & Video production certificates. my community college teachers have been very supportive and helped me a lot.

Money isn’t an issue, i have a school fund my grandparents set up (400k between me and my two siblings) and they’re open to supporting me further down the line while i get more of an education.

upgrading to a canon r6mkiii?

I’m a 20 year old photography student who currently uses an r7 i got just over a year ago. i’ve been doing photography for 2 years now . my main focus is concerts and portraits, but because of the r7 being a crop sensor and me mainly shooting local shows with bad lighting, i’ve been having a very hard time capturing anything good without a flash being involved. which makes it hard to get in with publications for bigger shows, they want to see things without flash before getting me in.

anyway! i have a 529 plan (student funding for qualified expenses) set up by my grandparents to make paying for school easier, and i can use the plan to buy a new camera soon. I was looking at the r6 mark iii as a “buy it nice or buy it twice” situation, but most of my lenses are for crop sensors and i’d have to upgrade them too. My grandma says she can buy it soon if i send them the syllabus and do research (which i’ve done) and i wouldn’t have to pay them back.

would it be worth it to buy this or would it be overkill? I’m kind of second guessing myself because i’ve only made like $300 from photography so far but sunk so much money into it already .

is this “too much” for a photoshoot and local concert?

top is mesh v neck from torrid, on sale for like $15 rn if anyone wants one.

20F, 2X

I’m doing a photoshoot for my friends today at a park, they’re very casual and don’t dress up at all , then seeing a few local bands at a bike shop. when my mom saw the top she was like “Woah, that’s very booby” and i do agree, but i like the top and feel confident in it.

bottom is a black maxi skirt with a lace spiderweb pattern on top

Community gathering space in a college town

Hi everyone,
I’m exploring the idea of leasing a ~4,800 sq ft flex space in Newark, DE to create a small-scale creative studio and community workshop space.
The concept is a flexible, DIY-friendly space for things like:

photography and content creation

small workshops (creative skills, art, etc.)

low-cost studio rentals for local creators

occasional small community/mutual-aid-adjacent events or gatherings

local shows for the underground music scene

The space I’m looking at is already partially built out (it even has a stage and open layout), so the idea would be to keep things relatively simple and adaptable rather than doing a heavy renovation or turning it into a traditional “event venue.”

I’m trying to figure out:
whether this kind of space actually feels needed/sustainable in a college town

what people would realistically use it for (and what they’d pay for, if anything)

what I might be missing in terms of logistics, zoning, or business model

I’m not trying to build a big commercial venue,
more like a practical, community-oriented creative space that can support itself if it works.
Would really appreciate any thoughts, critiques, or reality checks from people who’ve done similar projects or used spaces like this before.

I asked around in my community , local showgoers said they’d appreciate bigger spaces to attract more acts. (a lot of spaces rn are limited to 2000sqft or insanely expensive) Mutual aid groups said they’d appreciate spaces to gather without having lots of barriers.

low cost sd card camcorders that would work okay for diy shows (low light etc) and work with a rode mic?

It’s my friends birthday soon, and he likes recording diy band sets on the shittiest little camcorder i’ve ever seen. i’m looking for something in the budget of $150-200 that would work with the rode videopro microphone i already have to record hardcore shows. Any help would be appreciated! i’m pooling a bit of money with my other friends for this, a nice sd card, then throwing in the mic i own

I got the samples for my thursdove necklaces in today, and wanted to provide some updates to the reddit about the project. For context if you haven’t been following, i’m making thursdove necklaces where $10 of each sale goes to the PCRF.

  1. Final necklaces probably won’t be here until mid june, because of how delayed the sampling process was. If you want a refund on your pre order, contact me via etsy messages with your order info. the delay is because I made a rookie mistake and forgot most chinese factories take the whole month of march off as vacation !

  2. I did not hit the minimum funding amount yet, but i want these to be real so ill be using my own money to fund production

  3. i have not donated the running total ($80) to the PCRF yet, its in my savings account and im waiting until i get more to make a larger donation. i will post receipts when ive donated the amount

Etsy link can be found below in comments !
