Did anyone else notice Florpus changed Zim’s front door from a men’s room to a unisex one?
Thought it was neat.

I know absolutely nothing other than I don’t want to spend a lot of money. But I have a VHS tape of possible interest and want to make a file and post it somewhere. I don’t necessarily want to buy a lot of equipment because this is a one off. I can borrow a VCR and not sure if it’s helpful, but I have an ancient WinTV stick that I can hook a coax into.
Other notes: The only computer I have with USB ports is 2015 MacBook Pro (which is why I’m not sure the WinTV stick is actually useful)
Other other notes: I’m crazy poor. So cheap like baby chickens.
Unsure if posts regarding beta’s of prior versions is allowed so remove if not.
If you’re on either of the versions listed in the title, the cause seems to be due to something in that update breaking adguard’s network extension rendering macOS “unable to reach adguard’s code.”
Similar isn’t being reported in Tahoe so the advice for the interim is just disabling adguard completely until apple ships a fix (hopefully soon)
Others might already be aware as the issue seems to have a lot of traffic, but I’m posting because I personally didn’t realize adguard was at the center of the networking issues until I noticed a lack of adblocking. The app itself isn’t throwing too much of a fit to make the association readily apparent.
I’d recommend using the free versions of AdGuard Mini for Safari, UBlock Lite, or WBlock for the in the interim. While it might not compare to your default AdGuard preferences I feel personally it’s better than either raw dogging the internet with nothing or leaving your machine in an unusable state until a fix is prepared.
Edit: If AdGuard was an interface for an upstream DoH service like NextDNS or ControlD the official apps don’t seem to be affected by the bug and both play nicely with Wireguard VPN’s. Daisy chaining it all together isn’t optimal, but works decently enough to bridge the gap for most functions other than custom DNS blocklists and Userscripts. For the latter, the Userscripts app should do the trick actually tends to tolerate UserCSS a bit better than AdGuard proper.
It goes without saying Firefox is by far more insulated with full UBO/ TamperMonkey/ Stylus extensions long since reaching maturity. Less familiar with Chromium but so long as the manifest v2 workarounds still work I’d assume a comparable can be achieved free of charge.

Linked below is the issue page in question on Adguard for MacOS’s bug tracking repository.
Update: The beta builds released on July 20th, 2026 are also broken
Builds: 15.7.8 (24G822) & 14.8.8 (23J619)
Networking is just in a blender. VPN’s connect, but connections close knocking the device offline. Not using a VPN lends a weird broken state where some background apps have networking, but mail and safari don’t. Curl and git cut out too.
Trying to determine if it’s a me thing or if yesterday’s update knocked some planets out of orbit
To those with AppleCare™ how long do your AirPods™ last between needing to get them replaced. Normally, it’s 3 months but this past cycle it was just one month. I can’t imagine I’m using them “harder,” than other people. I don’t sleep with them, I don’t use them during exercise, I don’t work outside near dust or dirt. It also fails their test so I know this isn’t just in my head.
Friend of mine said they haven’t need to replace them in the year they’ve had them and I’m an outlier. This true? Or are they the outlier
I got baited by someone on a dating site into sending nudes. They’re threatening to put them online with photos from the dating app, my number; and the implication I committed sexual assault if I didn’t pay up.
I obviously said piss off but do they ever follow through? Does it matter if they do?
So I’m super high and my brain is making a bunch of out of pocket connections, but is it possible “Tall Morty” was actually the first Rick the council used the machine on that inverts the conscious and subconscious mind?
Tall Morty always stuck out to me because Rick’s aren’t exactly sentimental. Usually, when they kill or maim one they leave them where they fall and probably wouldn’t hesitate to put one down if they did get irreparable brain damage. Seeing how the citadel does actually run on capitalism someone is paying for this guy to live there and I assume just throwing him in Morty school is the easiest way to babysit him.
They wanted to use the machine on Rick C-137 and referred to him as a disgruntled Rick with the machine coming off as the default sentence. Too much silly smoke or something to this?
Not sure if the main Linux sub is the appropriate place for this so remove if it isn’t
So I’m sitting with a Dell laptop shipped with Windows 8 and Intel Pentium. This thing is at least a decade old and has a battery so fried the capacity diagnostics measure at 6%. So right off, I’m not expecting this to do anything taxing. I can’t tell much beyond that because this thing either the model number has long since faded, or it never had one in the first place.
During my formative years I would’ve defaulted to Fedora, but I hear that’s less recommended than it used to be due to changes in management. The majority of my setup runs on MacOS with heavy emphasis on command line usage. I figure management should be simple enough via SSH and SMB. The hope is it getting usable enough to be a local share server or Jellyfin server. Beyond that maybe setting up Pi-Hole or AdGuard Home
A mild concern is that I inherited this machine from a deceased relative who passed unexpectedly. Other than BIOS diagnostics she was the last person to use this machine and while I doubt the drive is encrypted I still worry the documents therein may still be important to other family members, but don’t realize it until 5 years from now.
I figured a dual boot install should leave her files metadata intact under windows, but I have about a dozen decent memories of botching it in the past and nuking the whole disk. I’m also trying to avoid booting into windows all together if only to avoid possible lockouts.
What would be the recommended distro? I’m using Fedora Media Writer to make the bootable USB. I’d appreciate any tips, tricks or anecdotes that come to mind. I haven’t properly used Linux beyond troubleshooting since 2016
The support page seems to just be how-to articles
Today is annual Doom Patrol day, in which the town of Cloverton celebrates our local heroes for their heroic rescue of Isabel Feathers
I found an old cassette labeled Lost Finale, but underneath some other stuff I vaguely think is another show. Pretty sure Lost didn’t wrap up in 2005 either. It was mixed in with a bunch of junk I inherited from a relative in the media industry, so I’m guessing it’s just an old screener but can’t make heads or tails of it. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a VCR to go with the tape, so that’s on the to-do list. The label is surprisingly crisp for a VHS old enough to drink so I figured it’s worth seeing if anyone can make heads or tails of it.
Edit: Reddit appended Jim to the tittle.. for some reason.
Is this a made-for-tv expression or is this common somewhere?
Felt worth mentioning since I didn’t see a where to watch page, and I actually think it’s still on MAX in the UK
This would be macOS 6.5.0. I had become aware that this was an issue in pre-release, but the stable version had not been affected previous to version 6.5.0.
I’m not sure if proton is aware of this as their stable releases are usually quite stable
