They're set up at the dog park which the road to was closed for a "special event". These weird tubes in wooden holders were scattered on the grass. Some are bigger than others, seems like three different sizes.

I could not get my menu wheel functioning with the traditional method of injecting deoxit or contact cleaner down the side of the encoder wheel. So I took the camera apart to get better access for a better cleaning. Taking it apart is mostly just removing body panels. The green circuit board is the only thing that was a little tricky to remove because the CMOS battery has to be removed first. The green circuit board will not come out unless you remove the battery. You will have to reset your clock but a small price to pay for better access. I used 99% IPA and took a couple cleaning sessions and my wheel works again.

Finally sat down and coded a program that will search through a Vigenere table (Quagmire III) using a crib word at a specific index position. Indexes start at 0 so 21 is rightfully position 22 in the ciphertext. It doesn't work that well at finding K1 or K2 keywords, so take the results with a grain of salt. I'm open to github pull request improvements. Available for free on my github.

Free Python Script for Quagmire III or IV Encrypt/Decrypt and shows full tableau. Shows demo of it working with K1 & K2. Also demonstrates working Quagmire IV script that most people have never used. It's rare to find a really good Quagmire IV script let alone one that shows how the process works with the full tableau shown.

I've created a Python script that accepts 4 keyworded alphabets (Quagmire style matrix) and alternates them in opposite directions. Method credit to Blowngust in this topic. The results are saved to a folder with file names that include the keywords used for each attempt. This is not a typical Quagmire so we can think of it as a Hybrid Quagmire, to my knowledge it is a novel method. His method uses 3 alternating offset ABC alphabets. I've taken that concept and expanded it up to 4 with a lot of customizable parameters. Python script freely available on my github.

Here's the original topic with head tracking issue. WinDV does not record correctly (0 byte temp avi disappears) when the tracking is off. Once you fix the tracking, WinDV starts working correctly. It's not perfect but certainly far better than it was. Video from March 5 2002.

My camera has an issue and I'm working on getting it repaired soon, ignore that. Just wanted to demonstrate Firewire transfer on Windows 10 using a combination of VLC as the video stream and cropped display capture with OBS.

Found another buried head. After all the work I put into raising it, figured most people might get a chuckle out of the anti-climactic step I missed. Ended up being tiny hair like roots that grew into the nozzle from being buried for so long.

The rust is only in 1 spot on the drum, rest of the drum is perfect. Camera has been sitting since 2012 and trying to get some video off it since my father passed and would like to digitize all my tapes. Have contacted an ebay seller and we're discussing a trade in because I don't think this is fixable. It was working somewhat with horrible banding and audio stutter when playing tapes. Since spotting the issue on the drum I've tried cleaning it with 100% IPA + chamois swab and now I get no picture when playing tapes. :( Also the menu wheel is glitchy AF and I can't seem to fix that either. Any input appreciated.

No one has figured out yet who/why some are given the ability to hand out UNLIMITED free awards. A Reddit admin said users given the ability are random. Most likely to boost usage of awards. I haven't found an achievement correlation as I found one person who claimed to have it and their account was only 6 months old with minimal karma and achievements. Possible the ability might disappear as randomly as it was introduced. A possibility exists of a future implemented award based achievement? We'll have to wait and see where this goes.
