Chainsmoker Cat | Nyaa! All References Edition (Original Footage OP Redux)

I made a version of the Chainsmoker Cat OP rebuilt entirely from the original movie/TV footage its references are based and/or rotoscoped from.

Mostly it was just a fun little obsessive project. I adore old film references and stuff, so fell in love with the OP instantly. I was thrilled there was already lots of videos breaking down the references, but was sad I couldn't find a references only version! So I made one.

Massive credit to Kyacchi’s reference video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEP6hpj368w), which did most of the heavy lifting identifying everything, plus a few other community/source breakdowns I used to fill in the gaps. I put it all in the description.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

[WEB/MOBILE] I turned Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon into a free daily browser puzzle

Game Title: The Bacon Game!

Playable Link: Play The Bacon Game! - www.thebacongame.com

Platform: Browser based, so desktop, tablet, or mobile browsers all work.

Description: If you're a fan of films and/or daily puzzle games and/or bacon, then boy howdy, do I have a game for you!

I made The Bacon Game because my friends and I used to play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon on long drives, lazy sundays in the pub, etc. Now we're all old and boring and have kids, and I missed playing!

In the daily version of the game, you get the same two actors as everyone else and have six film/co-star links to connect them. You can see how you did after.

There's also random, where you can re-roll for different pairings, and challenge mode, where you can design a custom pair and challenge a friend.

It is free, runs in the browser, works on mobile and desktop, and does not require an account.

Free to Play Status:

  • Free to play

Involvement: The conduit through which Kevin Bacon birthed this gift into the world (I made it. Kevin Bacon has no involvement. Yet. Kev, if you're reading this, call me.)

No diagnostic pathway for mental health in England?

Asking here because both PALs and the complaints team have not responded to multiple voicemails across several weeks, so I am unsure where I stand or what to do.

Last year, I had severe mental breakdown, caused by many factors, including possible underlying mood disorders.

The GP sent me to the Community Mental Health Team for diagnosis and treatment.

The CMHT have, since I’ve been under them, maintained they are not a diagnostic service. I’ve asked who is, and they said they have a psychiatrist who can diagnose, but he’s only available for extreme cases. I was then told I couldn’t see him anyway due to there being a conflict of interest. (My wife is under his care. She’s never met him. He just signs her prescriptions.)

I went back to the GP, who said the only referral option was the CMHT. I explained the situation, and the GP said “well that can’t be right, because how would you receive a diagnosis?”

I’ve had it confirmed by several CMHT members, including their senior team leader, that they are not a diagnostic service.

So, I am very stuck and confused. Almost 14 months later, and I still don’t know what’s happened to me, why, or how to get better. conventional therapies and such have all failed over the years, and I have many markers of various mood disorders, and yet here I am, stuck in eternal purgatory.

So, I wondered if there is any legal mechanism I can use or apply to unlock a diagnostic pathway? Or is 50% of all medicine (mental health) just unavailable to you if you live in my area? If so, is there a legal way to challenge it?

I think Burnham may be successful as PM purely due to Starmer’s awful PR skills

I personally feel that, overall, Starmer’s government has been doing an okay job. A lot of things slowly turning in the right direction to set up for future success.

I also think they have played one of the worst PR games I can remember in my life time, and hardly anyone actually knows about any of the good stuff, or how things will pay off down the road.

So really, all Burnham has to do is ride his moment in to the top seat, stay a bit quiet for a few months, and then launch a major, Blair style PR machine pushing all of the good stuff that Starmer was already doing but no one knows about.

People will attribute it to Burnham, because memories are short and research is at an all time low, and so he will seem like a strong PM straight out of the gate.

Whether he can sustain that, I don’t know. But I suspect people are undervaluing this detail when predicting him to have a short and fraught tenure.

What is the actual point of carrying on?

I mean that literally. I’d like to know the actual answer. All mental health professionals try and tell you to carry on, it gets better, etc. but that’s because it’s literally a fail state for them if you end your life.

My parents are dead. My wife is burnt out from carrying the load of marriage for years now. I am unemployed. I’m 37, and could probably count the numbers of days I’ve felt happy since turning 10 on one hand.

Every day is miserable. Every year it gets harder. 37 is much worse than 27, which was much worse than 17. I honestly can’t see the point of sticking around until I’m 47.

I was just born wrong for this world. But for some cursed reason, not wrong enough that people notice immediately.

So I have all of the many, many, excruciating downsides of being neurodiverse, but am held to the same standards and expectations as a neurotypical person.

I have tried every antidepressant the NHS will offer me. The community mental health team are so laughably awful that they have made my mental health actually worse. There are no more pathways or places to be signposted to. The GP can only refer me CMHT. The CMHT aren’t even a diagnostic service. They are the only mental health service the GP can send you too, and they can’t even diagnose you?

I am just tired. I’ve been trying to get help professionally since 2013. I’ve gone down every pathway, opened every door.

I am highly treatment resistant or tolerant.
CBT, DBT, EMDR and regular talking therapies haven’t helped an inch.

I don’t mean this dramatically, or with hyperbole, but literally why carry on?

The only reason I can see is not to put my wife through that. But honestly, at this stage, I feel it would perhaps be a blessing to be free of me.

Is there a method to working out which strains to try?

I’ve just moved from Releaf to Medicann, and as such, have gone from having around 12 options to about 250!

For my first order I just got ones that seemed similar to my stable strains on Releaf. Similar strength THC and terpene composition.

But I have no idea where to go from there. Is there a more scientific method to picking strains to try? Or is it literally just pick strains at random or based on reviews, note the strength and terpenes, and just try to keep track of what helps?

I’m down for trial and error, but it would be good to have some way to narrow things down.

Some Robins moved in!

Wife bought a used birdhouse on Facebook, and I just plonked it down next to the back door. Came back the next day to relocate it in the garden, and some robins had already moved in! So we didn’t touch it. The position is kind of awkward, as it’s in a high traffic area of the garden, but we are making it work and giving them their space.

A couple of days ago their eggs hatched! We’ve managed to count 5 chicks.

The video of the chicks was taken from outside the box zoomed in. We haven’t touched the box or attempted to interfere with it.

I’ll be honest, I know literally nothing about birds! But it’s been really special getting to witness this little piece of nature in action, and wanted to share with some people who may appreciate it!

How do you handle tolerance when you can’t stop for a while?

Hello! Across about a 3 month window, I’ve gone from my medical cannabis being highly effective to basically minimal effect. It used to be I’d spend the first 2 hours post vape feeling pretty amazing. Now I am lucky if I get a full half an hour.

It still holds enough benefits to be needed, but it’s so minimal now, and I find by the time 2 hours has gone by I’m desperate for my next vape to manage symptoms. I used to get a solid 4-6 hours of coverage from it.

I know I need to take a tolerance break for a few days to help reset, but I won’t be able to do that for a few weeks, as I won’t be in a strong position to let my conditions run wild with no management.

Is there anything I can do in the short term to provide a boost?

Sometimes, I wonder if I am not using enough. I use 4-5 of the smaller Arizer Solo 3 stems a day, but I wonder if for my age and size (37, 181cm, 105kg) the amount I vape is relatively small. It’s about 0.07g per stem, so around 0.3-0.4g a day. I have no idea if that’s a little or a lot. That said, I can’t afford to buy any additional beyond what I get monthly until I move off of Releaf, so perhaps a moot point.

If it matters, my main daily drivers are BlackBerry Balanced 19% with CBG, and Tangerine Boost 22% thc.

You lied to me, the Bendis era slaps

I’ve been avoiding the Bendis era of X-Men for years because all I ever see on Reddit is it getting bad mouthed. All I’ve heard about it on here is the run sucks and teen Jean outs Iceman.

Well, the bulk of the run showed up in a random garage sale grab box I picked up, and I’ve started reading out of morbid curiosity.

This shit is so good!! I’m up to the annuals focussed on Eva Bell and the Not Good, Very Bad Trip Through time.

Maybe it drops off hard later or something, but so far it’s been gold!! Great character interactions, long-con mystery set up and pay off, soap opera dramatics, cool action.

It’s probably the closest of any run to being a Claremont spiritual successor.

I feel like I already knew not to listen to Reddit, but this has been a welcome reminder.

If you’re on the fence and find the current era lacklustre, check it out.

Is this a particular artist, or type of art style?

I had a bunch of random comics in the 90s, or maybe early 2000s? With this exact art style. I think Wolverine was back to normal though. I remember it had cannonball on the main roster and there was something to do with nuclear power plants?

Anyway, I’m trying to work out if this was just the house style of the time, or if it was a specific artist?

They were the only comics I had as a kid as no one really sold them. The art is imprinted onto my memory.
