What are some of the books on stoicism and philosophy chris has mentioned before?

I remember over the years Chris has spoken about some of the books he read early on about different philosophies, I'd love to find out what those books were so I can look into them.

I'm working on a game where Earth is dead and you are on the run from a persistent threat known as the Swarm.

Hey everyone, hoping this is ok to post here under Rule 4.

This is Stationbreak, which you can find on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4183580/Stationbreak/

Stationbreak is a grounded sci-fi station-builder roguelite, driven by creeping dread. You lead a small fleet on the run, dropping into hazardous star systems to assemble temporary space stations just long enough to harvest the energy you need to jump again. Dive into this cassette-futuristic world, based on a combination of 1980s space command and mysterious alien technology.

We posted the trailer to YouTube the other day and it's got some really great views and people are really excited about the game - hopefully r/scifi is too!

Right stick controls radial...while holding X?

What sicko set that up haha. I'm very early game player, we just got the portable stove. You have to Hold X on the Xbox controller to bring up the cooking radial, but to select from that radial, you have to use the right analog stick. Which means I have to use my left hand for the right analogue stick.

Am I missing something here?

Playing on PC if that makes a difference

Here's a picture of a Jungle Crow I took on a trip to Japan last year!

I thought this was a raven but i'm reliably informed its actually a hashibutogarasu 🐦‍⬛

Here's a selection of photos from my travels in February last year!

I was lucky enough to go to Japan twice last year, once for fun and once for work (with some fun tacked on!). These are a selection of my photographs from the trip I took in February where I did quite a "traditional" tourist route.

Tokyo -> Kyoto -> Osaka -> Hiroshima

Which mouth do you prefer in this image I had made for my game?

We're making a game called Primordial Empire, which is a colony builder / strategy game but with elements of the cell stage of spore (microbial life swimming around in primordial goop!)

The lil' yellow guy was inspired by some of our favourite creations in Spore, but we can't decide which mouth for the main creature - do you prefer the lamprey style mouth or the beak?

"Balatro for Electrical Engineers" - Retroneer Trailer - IGN YouTube

Hey! It's a really exciting moment for us, the game we're making was posted on the IGN channel.

The game is called Retroneer: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4254050/Retroneer/

Retroneer is a puzzling circuit-building roguelite all about tinkering with your components, crafting powerful synergies, and seeing how far it can take you!

Something that keeps coming up, is that people watch the trailer and leave a little confused - we're going to work on this for future trailers for sure.

[Credit: Amy Robinson] We're trying to decide which mouth to use for the key art for our game

Hey, we've had some new key art created for our game "Primordial Empire" and we can't decide which mouth we prefer.

The first one is the funnel mouth and the second is more of a beaked mouth.

Is there one that stands out more to you than the other?

EDIT

Hey everyone! Thanks for the feedback seems people are a little divided haha!

Just to clarify, no AI was used in this image. We've worked with this artist a lot and trust her 100% and have seen WIP sketches.

The game isn't like Spore, however we think it will appeal to people who like Spore for sure.

The game is called Primordial Empire, it's available on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3450780/Primordial_Empire/

There's a free demo if you want to try it out, but the game is a colony builder inspired by microbiology. There's a lot of inspiration from real world creatures and microbes creating a vibe that's distinctively alien.

Hey everyone! Dan from Slug Disco here, this subreddit has been really lovely to us about our game Horticular before and I wanted to pay that back by running a giveaway for the Nintendo Switch version which launches tomorrow April 30!

To enter is a really simple two step process (winners will be chosen tomorrow!):

  • Leave a comment telling me your favourite animal 🐸
  • I need to know which country you're in as the keys from Nintendo are region locked.

If this is your first time hearing about Horticular, the game and it's DLC are already out on Steam, GOG and Epic Game Store.

Horticular is a relaxing garden builder where you grow plants, design habitats and attract a wide range of wildlife. Help the gnome Keepers restore a barren wasteland with magical powers and populate it with adorable critters. Reclaim nature from a looming corruption and create your perfect garden.

When the game first came out there was a lot of balance and reviews that we addressed around the habitats in the game, but it's worth stating that the game can be a little puzzley - some people love this, some people hate it!

There's multiple modes in the game that make the experience easier or more cozy, such as peaceful mode which puts less emphasis on the combat mechanics.
