Sometimes this bar doesn’t activate when I turn my mac on, any quick solutions?

First of all please ignore my dirty laptop, it looks so bad in this photo.

Secondly I say quick because it is actually easily solved by turning on and off again, but it’s very frustrating and disrupts workflow.

I don’t know what causes it to disappear from time to time, but it’s annoying because I work with audio, and thats how I access the volume.
I’ve never been able to find it in settings or anywhere else

Activities to do after completing main game (just X)

So I’m aware kind of of what theres left to do in the game for me, theres all the super aeon bosses everywhere,
The Baaj temple door to access (but i need to revisit temples which are guarded by super aeons)
And then omega ruins.

These things i’m aware of not sure if there is anything else I’m missing.

However when it comes to the super aeons I feel like i’m very far away from fighting any of them as they all deal 99,999 damage to me and I don’t know how to negate that.

My question is, is there anything to do after main game that doesn’t require serious grinding? Because I’d rather not do that and just move on to x-2.
But at the same time I want to experience what else the game has to offer…

Thoughts after beating main game, just X, not X-2

I’ve just finished the main game X. I’m sure theres an abundance of things left to do but wanted to share my main thoughts after finishing the game.

So far of the FFs i’ve played XV, XVI XII and VIII. I group the modern ones in a different category but i’d say this is my second favourite out of the 3 older ones i’ve played. VIII remains my favourite, and now X has slightly topped XII, I think it had a better combat and story which makes it win.

I’m gonna break down the different elements in a short summary style:

Story/characters:

I really enjoyed the story and the characters, no real complaints there. I don’t think I quite grasped it all but I always end up watching youtube story vids anyways to further my understanding. All the characters were enjoyable, the villains as well.
I loved the journey, how all the npcs were on it with you going at their own pace.

Exploration: The game was pretty linear in comparison to VIII and XII. There of course was side content and reason to visit other areas, but it felt like their was a slight lack of optional areas/dungeons in comparison to the other games, which is something I really enjoyed from the others, especially in XII.

Combat: Much much better than XII. I hated combat in that tbh, but it was fun in this, some characters struggled to remain useful all the time, but they all helped carry the battle at times. My favourite move was Aurons shooting star just a big F off move.
There was a lot of good options for characters, and it’s interesting the way you can build em.

And lastly, the music:

Music is usually the highlight of every square game and it’s still great here but…. considering how famous some of the music is from this one Sight Of Spira, To Zanarkand, Via Purifico I think I overhyped it. Because I found that not many of the other musical tracks left an impression on me. There was enjoyable tunes for sure, but I found myself criticising songs more than praising.
For example I don’t think the thunder plains music suits the thunder plains at all.
And I don’t think Aurons music suits Auron.

However I did love many of the motifs and area themes. The Hymn of the fayth is amazing, the music for Mt.Gagazet is great, the dungeon theme, highroad.

One small last note, considering how much I love the Via Purifico soundtrack I was pretty disappointed when I finally played the level and it was incredibly short.

Well that’s it, I’ve got X-2 to play now as well as discovering any secrets left in X, then after that I think I’ll probably try to play IX, XIII or replay VII and the rest of the series. Only done the Remake, not rebirth

Any music reviewers on here, or do people know of any?

Hi all, I’ve just recently released an album and I’m looking to have some reviews done for it.

I live in Liverpool, though not local, so it would be nice to have some local ones done.
Unfortunately I have no connections myself, I’ve always been terrible at that just never seem to meet the right people.

Is anyone here a music reviewer, or perhaps a musician that knows of one?

I don’t mind if I have to pay, as long as it’s not ridiculously expensive/dodgy..

Does anyone find that their singing only sounds good through certain speakers?

Whenever I listen to my music through headphones I always think it sounds fine, and my voice is okay.
But through speakers, particularly phone speakers it just sounds bad, like it manages to pick out only the bad frequencies?

I dunno if this is real or not. I always change my mind on my voice, and whenever I release music is usually when I hate it the most as I just feel embarrassed. So I don’t know if it’s just an add on of that or it’s own thing.

6 years ago I shared my debut album here, today I’m re-releasing an improved version of it!

I’m releasing an album today that is a remaster of my debut album that I shared on here 6 years ago. Including better mixes, vocals new instrumentation, new songs and also axing the songs that didn’t fit.

The album got a decent amount of attention from folk on here, and there was a lot of really kind words and really helpful advice. I even made a really close friend from sharing it, who’s featured on a song of mine since and i’ve helped him with one or two as well.

Whilst my music may not sound particularly too ben howard inspired, he is my favourite artist and with every new album he comes out with there are new sounds, melodies and techniques that inspire me and the way I make music.
His inspiration does tend to get blended in with various other inspirations such as Daughter, Radiohead, The Paper Kites and even video game music!

I hope that this improved version of my album can receive the same amount of appreciation it did 6 years ago, it’s still far from a flawless piece of work, but perfection is a hard thing to achieve when you’re working completely solo.

Anyways, enough rambling enjoy!

Whats something that happened off screen that you wish you saw…

Whilst not much comes to mind for this, perhaps there is more in the overall show.
But one thing in season 4 I would of loved to have seen properly is Ellis asking Kenny to sacrifice himself instead of his dad.

This scene could of been interesting to explore….
But also just so awkward and funny.

When it went down initially I imagined ellis was gonna say ‘you and I need to do it instead of my father’

But nah, bro just went ‘yo kenny, my dad can’t do this so I think you should be the sacrificial dummy’

Kenny: ‘Oh okay, yeh that makes sense. Hey why don’t we both do it?’

Ellis: ‘Nah don’t think so pal’.

I mean I get it Ellis has Fatima to think about, but I still think it’s really damn rude to ask someone else to offer themselves up for someone else.

I also don’t see why they couldn’t of both gone out there? Kenny could of done the stabbing and Ellis watched his 6, I think that way Ellis could of said they’re surrounding us mate lets dash. Instead of them both watching on from afar.

This whole scene to me played out a bit frustratingly, because it put our Beloved Kenny in danger, when I think it could of been way better handled.

It made me disrespect Ellis even more, people always talk about him being kind of useless and this does not strengthen his case.
He better lock in next season.

My Biggest gripe with this game….

Is actually quite a small thing but….

The photo mode is terrible :(.
Which makes me sad because theres so many stunning locations, but the controls on the photo mode are so difficult to use and often force you into unflattering angles that make you think why bother. Like when you’re sightseeing IRL, and you can’t get a good pic of something so you just sod it off.

Anyone else having issues with it or know if theres any tweaks for it to come?

Looking for a good Solo Cello Legato VST

I go through so many of these and still end up unhappy about the sound.
I’m currently working with contemporary soloist cello, which offers a lot of great presets, such as the piz, arpeggios, and lots of fx tools. I don’t regret the purchase but the expressive legato I find a bit difficult to work with. It sounds great at times, and other times not so much. (It could be that i’m just not controlling my midi well).

I’m looking for one that kind of just sounds amazing without little tweaking, but also my price range currently is: Max: 100. Although I will take recommendations for future when I have a higher budget.

I have seen a few that are within that price range, tina guo, sonixcinema intimate.

I feel like the videos always seem great but I would love to hear from a consumer for how they actually play.

Last note of information I only have the free Kontakt player 8. And I have not much storage…

Questions about the game’s structure

So so far the game has been very linear, unlike other FF games I’ve played.
However there has been many suggestions from the game that you will return to areas, such as unreachable chests on the path after Luca (although I think I just missed that by not utilising the chocobo properly)
And mainly Luca itself with the sphere theatre.

I’m now at the calm lands where I’ve come across a monster hunter catching thing (idk) I’m not too sure if I can be bothered to engage with that right now but get the feeling that if I press on I’ll never be able to return to it.

So my question is does the game remain linear to the end, or will there be a point where I can revisit areas, and preferably by some kind of fast travel?

Help with sussing out potential scams [UK]

Hi there,
So I’m a musician who’s looking for some visual work to go alongside my music. Naturally I turn to online as I’m unfortunately isolated in real life and don’t seem to know any creatives in that field.

I have not ever gone with anyone in the past because literally everyone I speak to feels like a scam.
Some people are probably legit but just have a way higher budget, honestly I think they’re probably more trustworthy but I can’t afford that so.

Basically I always set a small budget £30 or less.
That gets agreed upon, they always want half first and even though it’s a small amount I can never convince myself to follow through, I get scared and abandon it.

One time I think it was a wise choice, as the paying link they sent me had a different profile and something felt off.

This current one I’m talking to I’m unsure about. They have a page on dribble.com.
They talk like they all do I guess. They shared with me a portfolio which was decent I guess.

I’m wondering if you guys on here could help me by just maybe giving me pointers, things to look out for or things to ask before I do anything silly.

[hobby] [forhire] looking for a video maker/animator for a music video

Hi so I’m releasing a song soon and need a little video to go with it, and thought this might be a good place to look as many people here have animation/video skills.

My song is about time, so the video would be very clock heavy. I’m mainly looking for just a small loopable animation.

I’ve put down hobby and for hire because preferably I’m hoping for someone who just wants to build their portfolio, but I am willing to pay if needs be, but my budget would be low £20 or less, and If we were to go down that route i’d like to see a finished product before paying (you can watermark it or do whatever to assure I can’t use until paying)

If this is something you’re interested in let me know!

Sky Shines Brightly + Others

Anyone else getting a bit scared that this song hasn’t made an appearance yet?

I know it’s still early days so yes or course I’m being dramatic by panicking, but this one was definitely my favourite from the Cork gig I’ll be absolutely gutted if it doesn’t leave the shores of ireland.

The other good ones from there where Tuel Lane Lock, and a unnamed one that he sang in a circle with a bunch of others.

Northumberland Avenue has changed a lot since Cork. I reckon since all the songs seemed like a collaborative effort between him and Kate, he has made it more him.
But if I’m being honest I preferred the lyrics from the cork gig, I also think he sang it much better there which makes me think maybe he struggles to sing as prominent when backed with a full band (potential hearing difficulties)

However the new version does have really cool backing vocals, and an amazing violin or viola solo, I couldn’t tell which one it was from the video.

What is everyone else thinking about the new songs?
The sun and face the day haven’t really captured me, but Cadence is a fantastic delay guitar song.

Do you think female vocals are more useful in the world of composing?

So I’m a male, and to be fair I don’t have a great voice anyways but I always try to use it.

When I think of games/film and tv I think you hear female vocals used a lot, and to great effect.
Clair Obscur is a great example for games, but also the souls games also make use of haunting female vocals.
For tv I can’t think of any of the top of of my head but I know they’re used.

I try to use my voice a lot in compositions but it always feels weak and even when it sounds sort of right I still think a female voice would of suited it better.

What do you guys think? Is there any creative ways male voices are used that you can list, or have done yourself?

Hi all me again. I’m once again being tormented by minecraft as another aspect of my world fails to work as intended, and once again I cannot understand why at all.

This time it’s chain command blocks so heres the deal, you step on a pressure plate which then triggers a repeating command (execute if block powered) it then does a few things such as make it nighttime, disable day cycle and reset spawnpoint, all work fine. It then replaces a load of blocks using the setblock command, I’m not using the fill command due to an incident that happened before.

All the chain commands have the same settings always active, conditional.

Some of the blocks set, but for some reason the rest do not. I’ve quadruple checked the coordinates, i’ve checked if anything’s obstructing the block placement, I’ve powered the chain with a redstone torch instead of the pressure plate and still it won’t go past a certain command for no good reason.

I know theres nothing wrong with the writing because it works for all the other commands I haven’t changed anything.

Theres also two instances in an area nearby where this happens.
And what baffled me in one instance is that in the chain, on of the commands didn’t activate but one after it did, despite them being conditional.

This has got to be some sort of spiteful little glitch right? It doesn’t make sense

Hi so I imagine this is a bit of a more niche request.
However my map is driving me insane.
I’ve been working on it for over ten years, started on the Xbox One and in recent years transferred it to pc and began making it more polished with commands.
It was all very new to me and I wasn’t very good at it, it took me several more years to get the map in a finished state.
But theres still several issues and trying to fix them is making me want to tear my hair out.

As I say, the map is practically finished I have built and laid out everything, and even composed a full soundtrack to it.
However I would love some help with commands to get the map in a good state were I can finally release it.

As this is just a minecraft map there will be no money for me too offer as I won’t be receiving any myself for the map.
I considered selling it but that’s very tabboo in the minecraft crowd.
Also after test playing my map I realise that it’s no where near enough a polished experience to sell it.
That being said it’s stil very fun and enjoyable.

A command of mine wasn’t working, so I turned on commandblocks output true and send feedback true, but still it wasn’t showing me anything.

I traveled somewhere else on my map and commands were showing again.

So I don’t understand why it doesn’t work in the area I was in, I do not have a command block anywhere that disables either of these rules.

It makes no sense to me at all.

Which leads me to believe it’s just a straight up glitch.

I’m getting seriously frustrated on my world as certain commands just trigger for no reason.

I have commands such as title commands, and these specific ones trigger only when particular buttons are pressed.
However i’m getting them shown to me randomly, quite often when I die or spawn into the world.

I also have a sound command that is a ‘new area’ ost, that has been known to randomly trigger.

I can’t for the life of me figure this out, so if anyone can give me some advice i’d appreciate it.

Hi all, first of all sorry if this type of post isn’t allowed I briefly looked through the rules and couldn’t see anything that says otherwise.

I’m a masters student about to finish my course on composition for film/tv/games, but I really want to go into game composing and I’m aware that it will be a long and hard journey.

Unfortunately I’m an introvert and despite being at university, I’m leaving with no connections or anything. In my own life I have still never come across anyone who needs music for well anything…

I’m more than happy to work for free to begin with to just get my name out there.

I recently discovered gamejams and will definitely be starting there, but was curious as to where else you can find these types of opportunities.

As I mainly want to focus on games, does anyone know where is a good place to find like indie/student game devs searching for composers?

Whether online or the real world, just looking for some tips

Thanks
