so i am finally getting the opportunity to move out of this shithole but then even in the west, right wing governments and fascism is on the rise. us, uk, spain, france, germany, denmark, poland, and on and on no matter where i go, i’ll be lumped in with muslim immigrants (who have STELLAR reputation) and face discrimination. i am not someone intending to just be a bum and not contribute to the society, be a criminal nuisance or impose islam. but it’s getting even worse since fascism is on the rise. it feels so depressing that even in my own country i’m not free to live my life on my own terms, but even when i finally get to leave, this trashy identity will never leave me behind and because of the same shitty conservative mindset that exists in people over there, it’ll work against me. it’s not like they’d care that i too hate this religion, they’ll only see my name and my skin color.

so when i was still in my teens i was like 45-48 kgs, 35-25-36 measurements. then i got into my 20 and my weight slowly started going up 52-57. and now my weight has shot up to 64 kgs, my measurements are 40-32-41. my clothes obv dont fit i have to redo my whole wardrobe. my size went from xs to xl. i don’t have a really visible tummy yet but it still makes me super insecure.

i go to the gym, do 35 mins of stationary bike, 10 mins treadmill at 9 incline. lift some weights. i’ve been trying my best to eat in a deficit but it always ends up going a bit above what yazio tells me. according to the app i should have like 1250 cals max but even just snacking and 2 meals crosses that limit, which is driving me nuts. i’m slowly feeling like i’ll end up developing an ed with the whole deficit mess. i really want to least lose weight and be 57 kgs at the very least.

(plus my parents and aunties keep calling me fat now so that doesn’t help either)

i’ve had a mole ever since i was a toddler but it’s been growing over the years and has started raising as well. getting removed is probably the right choice. it’s on my face so i cannot risk getting significant scarring, but i have no idea which doctor to go to for the procedure. some recs would be appreciated.

okay so starting off, i left islam when i was still in high school. when i told my “friends” they went into this “savior” mode that they wanted to protect me and what not. these girls were those typical rich spoiled girls who wore skin tight clothing and what not and like they had the audacity to act ofc they were bad muslims but they were still better than me morally. i was going through a major suicidal phase during that time too, and my grades dropped. when they argued with me why i left, i said scientifically it didn’t make sense. one retorted by saying oh you’re talking about science? no wonder your grades suck. then they used to have the audacity to act like they were so gracious because they still accepted me as an atheist.

anyways i obv left them and years later, most of them have drug addictions, some are housewives and one of them even got divorced at such a young age, they didn’t exactly achieve anything in life and i’m the only one out of them to be pursuing higher education (that too abroad). but what really gets me is that one of them has a huge bodycount, still dresses like the opposite of what islam demands and her stories and reposts are still about islam lmaoo. her instagram bio is still of a surah while being a fashion influencer. all of them frequently talk about how any criticism of islam is wrong but at the same time do shit that is literally forbidden in the religion.

i as an exmuslim still havent done most of the shit thats forbidden in islam. u cant just change a religion that deems to be “perfect” to fit your narrative. but these people make me sooo goddamn mad because they paint a picture of islam that doesn’t even exist and completely skip over all the problematic aspects of that does warrant serious criticism. the hypocrisy also fries me because this same religion would have them killed for the shit they do yet they use that religion as an excuse to be assholes to people who don’t want to associate themselves with it.

in fact later on in my life, i mostly befriended people who were not liberal muslims. they were pious but also not hypocritical like the liberal crowd. and when i came out to them, they were actually way more respectful and accepting of me and never said anything to offend me.

going to bauhaus for hci was pretty much my goal and i got the admit. hci isn’t taught in my country as a whole other field so i had to look for options abroad. i’d love to know about alumni or current students who are already enrolled in the program and how their experience is w the university.

ive seen a lot of guys in my family and my friend circle move to germany, but barely any women. from my understanding, desi guys do face some minor racism and micro-aggression there, but nothing physical/major. any pakistani women here who moved for their studies to germany? how was your experience and how was it different from pakistan?

guten tag! so i got accepted into the hci program at bauhaus and it was kind of my goal to get into that program since very few unis all around the world offer that as a discipline.

from what ive seen in videos and pictures, weimar seems like such a cosy little city. it also seems fairly close to erfurt and jena, close enough that i might just randomly decide to go there any time. ive also applied for accommodation at jakobsplan 1 and i really hope i get it.

but anyways my main question is about how’s it like for international students (i’m a 23 yo pakistani woman, i’m also learning to speak german). how’s the social life, how’s the job scene (student jobs, im ready to do minimum wage even, although my bachelors is in software engineering), how are the people (ive heard some negative things about thuringia as a state in terms of racism).
