Theft concerns on CCs?

Has anyone felt it’s been necessary to install any after market devices on their Corolla Crosses to help protect and/or deter thefts? I’m in Ontario and I know we have a huge program in Canada with RAV4s being targeted. I really want a Toyota but damn I’m scared of thieves!

Let me know what you do to protect yourselves, if anything.

2027 Corolla Cross

Hi all, does anyone know when they’ll be announcing what the 2027 Corolla Cross models will look like? Thinking about getting a 2026 but I may wait for the 2027.

Thanks!

Buying one!

I’m going to be buying a new Corolla Cross soon. I am TORN about whether I should buy FWD or AWD L or LE. I live in Ontario, Canada so we do get winter weather. However, for one: I don’t commute, I work from home. So this will be an “around town” vehicle for me to run errands, go to appointments, groceries. And two: I never travel anywhere where I would need to go off road at any point. I’d obviously get winter tires for the other one.

I know this is a personal preference, but what would you do?! Thanks all!

First Vehicle!

Hi all, I’m a 35 year old woman from Southern Ontario. Got my license late in life … officially licensed as of last week. Looking at 2 cars at a dealership. One is a 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross and one is a 2025 VW Taos. Budget is $20-30k. Couple of questions below, please help! I don’t have any boomer parents to ask so I’m relying on Reddit and friends/other family for advice. I know shit about this process but I’m trying to learn and educate myself.

- Should I finance or lease? Leaning towards financing but let me know.

- Should I secure an auto loan before going into the dealership, or get approved for an auto loan when I’m AT the dealership? My credit is in the 700 range but I’m worried I won’t get approved for some reason?! I’ll be putting no money down.

- Tips for dealing with the salesman? What should I look out for, how low should I haggle, what things should I look out for to make sure I don’t get swindled, etc.? I’ll be bringing my husband with me so hopefully that’ll help a bit haha.

2018 Used Forester

Hey all, I’m looking at potentially buying a 2018 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited 4dr All-wheel Drive CVT. This would be my first car and I’m looking for some advice! I live in Ontario, Canada.

I looked up the VIN and I’m seeing three recall notices. If I buy it, would I be able to take this to a Subaru dealership and have them fix it? Would this be an out of pocket expense, or would it be covered since they’re recalls?

Passed G2 in Hamilton

Did a three point turn on the street in a residential area. When we drove back to the test centre he took me back to the lot to do reverse parking and forward stall parking. Found reverse parking to be a bit tricky because the paint lines are VERY faded in between the spots and I could barely see but thank god I did it! I practiced parallel parking like MAD prior to the test and I was kind of bummed I didn’t have to do it for my test as I find it to be easier than reverse parking for some reason.

Soooo relieved!!!

Hairstylist

Looking for a stylist for a good haircut and natural looking colour. I have bone straight hair, fine but LOTS of it. I’ve been to Cameron Hair Studio and Corner Room in the past but didn’t love them.

Ideally lower city. Would love to find someone local. Thanks!

Emergency brake

Hi all. Has anyone NOT used the emergency brake during your G2 test and still passed? My hand is a bit sore right now when I grip things tightly and I’m using a car that has the brake where you pull up to brake and press the button to release. It’s a bit stubborn to release.

Should I mention this to the examiner? That I normally would use it but my hand has been a bit sore lately? Or just use it and suffer through the pain lol.

Hamilton G2 Test

Hey guys I have my test in June. I’ve been practicing around the test area a lot but I’m wondering where they get you to parallel and reverse park? I struggle with my reverse parking a lot and I’m so nervous I’ll fail cause I can’t reverse park. Idk I’m stressing.

Hi all,

I don’t know if this is welcome because it hasn’t been a long time (only been 2 months), but I’m here to seek some insight and even some perspective from you all. My husband’s 72 year old father was in the ICU and hospital for around 2-3 weeks in March. He lives alone in a rural area and is divorced. He was discharged and was recovering for a couple of weeks at home either with my husband or sister in law when he was admitted to the hospital again. Spent some time there, and was discharged for a whole week at home with my husband.

My husband has been away off and on for a huge chunk of the two months staying near the hospital then staying with his dad and supporting him with errands, cooking, driving, etc. His dad lives a 4hr drive from us. He’s asked that I stay home, look after the dog, and make sure that things are running smoothly at home so he doesn’t have anything to worry about.

My husband was supposed to come home today as his dad was looking better and better everyday. We were so glad to see him feeling better. However, he was admitted to the hospital again today out of the blue.

While I absolutely support my husband being with his dad, is it unreasonable to suggest to my husband that his two siblings, his dad’s sister and his dad’s girlfriend help share the task of supporting his dad a bit more to give him a break? I’m worried my partner is going to burn out, this time has been difficult for us all. Both of my parents died when I was in my early 20s, so I don’t have a lot of experience with elderly parents and caregiving. I also don’t want to continue to live alone, he’s been gone so much. It’s very isolating.

Any advice, insight, perspective, etc. is appreciated while we all navigate this.
