Is this something that can be repaired on a bag?

Hello all! I hope it’s alright that I’m posting on this sub. I purchased a secondhand top grain pebbles leather bag that was listed in like new condition.

For like new condition I am happy with the price I paid, less than half what the bag is currently retailing for online. I paid $230 after tax and shipping and the bag brand new is currently selling for $514.

It is very clean and in great condition, with the exception of this cracking along the handle and edges of the opening of the bag. This looks more like a paint or wax coating beginning to crack, rather than cracks in the leather. Is this something that is easily repairable?

Esembly inner ties, thirsties duo fitted and GMD workhorse? give me your opinions please!

Hello everyone! After months of research I’ve finally started actually purchasing diapers leading up to my little one’s arrival. We are hoping to exclusively cloth diaper and I have a few questions.

I ordered 7 size one esembly covers, they seem to be pretty universally liked on these threads and I got an amazing deal on them. I ordered 21 esembly tie inners, 3 snaps (I’m reading a lot of complaints about esembly inners, and they all seem to be about the esembly snaps inners). For starting out, just for the sake of simplicity while we get the hang of cloth diapering I wanted to stick primarily to one system and esembly seemed best for a beginner.

I think 24 diapers for full time is probably not enough though. Now that I’ve gotten the diapers and fiddled with them a bit I feel a bit more confident about trying out other inserts. I’m reading that GMD workhorse diapers and thirsties duo fit underneath esembly covers, so I’m probably going to order a few of those to bring my number up to 36 diapers.

GMD workhorse diapers have so many sizes that I’m apprehensive to purchase those ones because I feel like I’ll have to keep sizing up, and thirsties seem great, but at $23 a diaper it’s definitely an investment. I do not mind spending the money if it’s a superior diaper. Does anyone have any input on the diapers I am looking at? Should I skip the workhorses in favor of more thirsties?

And any advice on cloth diapering from birth, will the meconium poos really stain the diapers and make them hard to wash? Are disposables better until the meconium is done?

What is the lowest cost sufficient water treatment option in this scenario?

I live in North County San Diego in an area where last year’s water hardness test was 275 ppm. When I test our water with strips it’s always the highest hardness result but I haven’t had a comprehensive test performed. But I do know we have very very hard water. We rent a small 2 bedroom home with 1.5 bathrooms and we have about 1.5 years left here before we move. Our landlord is chill and we can do whatever we want within reason, so I feel confident we could install a comprehensive system without any objections from him, if we wanted to.

I do struggle with very dry skin, acne and eczema so I’m sure I would benefit from a whole house softener, but the main reason I’m looking into softening options is because we are expecting a baby and plan to cloth diaper. There’s lots of recommendations for washing with calgon for preventing mineral buildup but I’m reading there is a strong fragrance and with my sensitive skin I don’t think fragranced detergents are the right solution. I have also read food grade citric acid added to the wash is a softening solution, and that borax probably isn’t sufficient for our level of hardness.

I have read there are in line softeners that screw in to the washers main line, but they require a considerable amount of maintenance. I found a relatively inexpensive whole house softening unit from aquasure and there’s an option for a 32,000 grain system or a 48,000 grain system in the $500 range. I’m hesitant to go through the hassle of installing a system when we will only be here for a short while longer, but I also am willing to look into it if a system is the best option. Does anyone have any recommendations for a system that is somewhat inexpensive, easy to install, and low maintenance that can do the trick for a little while before we leave? I just don’t want to ruin our cloth diapers. 🥴

Help! What is the cheapest thing on artipoppe’s website?

Hi moms (and dads!)

I’m in the market for a new carrier and I’m trying to decide between the Argus Oat and the boho Laguna in blue. Frankly, I like the boho Laguna look more. I’m an Amex card holder and I need the charge on my card to be at least $400 so I can get that $80 statement credit. The problem is that my order for the blue with the referral discount comes out to $396 after tax. 😭 the Argus oat comes in at $406, so it would trigger the statement credit.

I have looked through the website and it looks like the cheapest thing they sell is the Artipoppe Deck? and those are $35. That’s kinda a lot to spend on something I don’t want when I only need to fluff my order by $4. Do ya’ll have any tips for how to get that order price up a few dollars? Or maybe you can give me some textile advice that will make me feel more affirmed with buying the Argus oat, even though it’s my second choice? I don’t want to pay $57 more for a carrier by skipping the referral discount. Knowing I could have gotten it for cheaper would just tick me off.

I live in San Diego and will be moving to North Carolina in the next year. I know the Argus Oat cotton linen fabric is better for hot humid weather. And I know the 100% cotton Laguna will wear a little hotter, but also is softer and might wash better? I’d love any advice on which carrier you guys would pick between these two. Obviously I want to buy the one that functionally meets my needs more, which I think would be Argus oat. But I just prefer the Laguna. I just spent $400 on a Sakura bloom too, so going the cheaper route would make more sense for my bank account right now. 😵‍💫

Seller not shipping within Posh’s timeframe. What would you do?

EDIT*

Thank you guys for all your advice. I did end up escalating to posh support and immediately afterward the seller canceled my order. I think ultimately that’s the best result that could have happened and I’m glad I didn’t have to fight with her over it. Appreciate you all!!

Hi guys! I’d appreciate some insight on how you would handle a scenario like this. I primarily buy on Posh, but I sell intermittently too, so I do know what it’s like to both be a seller and a buyer.

I purchased a dress for $135 on June 1st. We have a trip coming up, and I will be out of town early morning the 20th. I ordered this dress to wear on my trip. It is now the 7th and Poshmark reminded the seller to ship the item and they stated their intent to ship it, and also marked the item “shipped by seller”. I assume marking the item shipped by seller means it won’t trip Posh’s algorithm to allow the buyer to cancel automatically after the 7th day, is that correct?

I messaged the seller first to touch base, because with poshmark’s downgraded ground advantage shipping it takes a lot longer for items to arrive now. I have had no correspondence with the seller prior to this. She told me she will ship the order on Tuesday the 9th(meaning she plans to ship on day 9 since I placed my order). This is past Poshmark’s policy that sellers have 7 days to ship. I was irritated that she didn’t message me earlier to let me know the item would be delayed, does not seem at all concerned that she’s violating Posh’s terms and just thanks me for my patience and that she’ll ship it when she ships it. I feel like I have enough wiggle room that it *probably* will still arrive on time, but I’m pretty frustrated by her response.

Since she has marked the item “shipped by seller” will Poshmark still allow me to cancel my order tomorrow when the 8th day timeline has been met? It probably will arrive on time, but there’s a real possibility that it couldn’t and I bought this dress for a family maternity photoshoot. If it doesn’t arrive on time then I don’t need it anymore and won’t be able to return it.

Surprise second baby appearing on an ultrasound for a singleton pregnancy. Would love to hear from a radiologist

Hello! This is kind of weird but I’m waiting to hear back from my doctor and I’m losing my mind.

I (34 Female) am currently 16 weeks pregnant with a singleton baby. I have had one medical grade ultrasound before this one, at 8 weeks gestation. I went in for a routine 15 week appointment with my OB. She wasn’t planning to do an ultrasound, but she couldn’t find the heartbeat with a Doppler so we had a very brief (literally 1 minute long) ultrasound to check the heartbeat. She printed a cute ultrasound picture and sent me on my merry way. A week later I sent it to my dad, and he responded back with “wow! Twins!” Now looking at the ultrasound there is definitely a second baby there. I called my OB yesterday and haven’t heard back and also spoke with my midwife, so I will have a repeat scan on Tuesday. But I’m freaking out now and hoping there is a valid reason why there would be two babies on a scan for a single pregnancy. I spent all night googling things like mirror artifacts, but none of them quite look like what I’m seeing. To the professional eye would you see this scan and assume there was a glitch with the machine? Posting an Imgur link with a second picture from the scan where a second baby isn’t visible

https://imgur.com/a/rwG0ckf

*EDIT*

Thank you so much everyone! I ended up getting in for an ultrasound sooner and this was confirmed to be a single pregnancy with an artifact. 🙌🙌🙌

Did any of you catch a twin pregnancy before your doctor did?

Hi guys! I’m 16 weeks pregnant with a single girl. My eight week ultrasound confirmed a singleton pregnancy, normal NIPT. I had one brief ultrasound at 13 weeks with my midwife, as well as a brief one at 15 weeks with my OB when she couldn’t find the heartbeat on the Doppler. No one has ever raised the alarm about it being twins. I got a cute ultrasound picture and went on my merry way, sent it to a family member and got “wow! Twins!

I’m not going to post the ultrasound since I think that’s against this sub’s rules, but really it looks like a 15 week term baby, to the left of the baby. I emailed my OB and called my midwife. My midwife feels like it looks like a second baby, but is surprised because my previous ultrasounds showed no signs of a twin. I’ve read ultrasounds can sometimes present with “shadows” or mirroring, but when I look up examples like that I never see what looks like a whole second baby. It’s just so weird. Im in complete disbelief, in part because it hasn’t been caught by my OB or my Midwife before this. Has anyone recognized a twin pregnancy before a professional has?

How long does Mercari take on return requests?

I have always used Poshmark, but that has been a hot mess express lately. I have only ever purchased an item and actually received it once on Mercari. I have purchased items and had the seller cancel immediately after payment 3 times, so I’m not impressed so far.

I purchased an item from a seller with over 1500 ratings of a baby item that was listed as brand new, never used with no box. I received it today, delivered at 12:44 and I opened up a return request at 12:57. The item is 100% used, with what appears to be dried bodily fluids literally all over the plastic frame. I am actually appalled this seller had the nerve to sell this as new, never used. To make matters worse, I opened the return request and submitted pictures and the seller is now trying to make it sound like it was tampered with. There was no delay in shipping and the packaging was intact when I received it. From the time UPS marked it as delivered to the time I requested a return was not even 15 minutes. Has anyone ever experienced this? How long does Mercari take to review return requests? I am not trying to keep this item.

Hello all! This is my first post on this sub! After months of research I think I have settled on the Sakura Bloom Scout as the carrier I want. This group has been so helpful in narrowing that down(thank you!), but I do have one concern. As soon as I saw the eyelet linen and leather scout I was ready to pull the trigger. I absolutely LOVE it. It’s hands down my top pick of any design they have. But I have seen some comments on here that the eyelet linen is not the ideal material as baby gets heavier. So I did some more digging and found a fabric care guide from Sakura Bloom, but they don’t explicitly explain the eyelet linen fabric (at least in the guide I read).

So here’s my question. I hated baby wearing with my first. My back hurt all the time. My shoulders hurt all the time. It didn’t feel natural or comfortable to wear baby in front doing dishes, baking, etc. I had the luxury at that time to just decide I hated baby wearing and wouldn’t do it. I put very little thought into it. But now I’m expecting my second and homeschooling my 4 year old and I am going to need to have options for wearing baby that don’t hurt. I don’t have particularly large babies, in fact my son was quite small. I am very concerned about making sure whatever carrier I get will provide the support I need though. I am open to the Venice silk scout, the Maren silk scout, or the eyelet linen scout. I also live in San Diego, and will be moving to Charlotte NC, so a carrier suitable for warm weather is a must too. With my needs, is the eyelet linen a bad buy? Is the fabric scratchy on baby’s legs? Is it too hot? I like the Venice silk scout with leather detail, but that comes in a full $100 more expensive and is also a heavier duty silk fabric. I like the idea of having more support from a more structured fabric since my previous carrier didn’t have enough support. Is the quality of that one that much better than the Maren silk? Am I overthinking this? I would like to just buy the carrier that I like the most aesthetically, but I want to make sure that I make the right choice for my situation to give myself the best chance at enjoying baby wearing this time around. I would appreciate any advice you guys have!
