Reminiscing life through Google Maps

Reminiscing life through Google Maps

I was trying to find a location using Google Maps when nostalgia hit me. You know when you can view aerial shots of places via Google Maps? I tried visiting places I was once in with people who were no longer in my life, and memories that are now just part of my past. Sobrang nakakanostalgic makita yung aerial shots ng google maps na may different versions like 2015, 2022, and so. It took me down to memory lane and also made me realize how much people, including myself, and places have changed through the years. Literally watching my life in pictures. Thank you sa mga nagtetake ng photos for Google Maps, I guess.

How to file for a business with zero sales

Hi everyone. May I know what else to do aside from filing 1701Q for a small business with zero sales? I’m a self-proprietor and I’m still kinda lost regarding what to do with the books of accounts (General ledger and journal) aside from submitting 1701Q online. Thank you!

Totoo pala yung sinasabi nila na habang tumatanda, mas lalo tayong lumulungkot

*plays The Cure by Olivia Rodriguez*

Nung nag-aaral pa lang ako, alam kong may mabigat na responsibilidad na agad ako kasi parehas incapable financially ang magulang ko. I was aware and yet, hindi ko pa sobrang ramdam kasi nakasuporta pa sakin mga tita ko which I’m grateful for because it’s still a privilege.

Now that I’m an adult and almost 3 years working na, ramdam na ramdam ko na ang hirap ng buhay. Seeing tired people’s faces in public transpos with my own tired eyes and soul, napapapaisip ako, ganito na lang ba talaga ang buhay? Magtatrabaho ka, kakain, matutulog. Sure, some of us from low-middle income earners may have some time and resources for leisure but at the end of the day, you’ll always have to come back to reality - harsh most of the time, rarely good, working our asses off until old age and retirement.

If I could go back in time, I’d want to remain as a child. Mind you, I don’t exactly have a great childhood, my father is emotionally abusive and my mother is dismissive. But at the very least, I’m naive or ignorant even, and ignorance is bliss. I don’t overthink every night how my family is so dysfunctional, how can I fend for myself when I didn’t keep my job, how do I come into terms with myself and many others.

For my younger self, having a roof over my head, clothes to keep me warm, and food to fill my stomach are enough for me to persist. I know many might disagree because having a job and money can take you out from situations you don’t like but as for me, no money, love, and moving to places can cure the emptiness I feel.

One thing that’s keeping me going though is something that I’ve read online: life already took so much crom you, don’t let it take more. I will survive and really ‘live’ someday. I’ll cling on to hope that it will get better.

First time kong makakain sa Frankie’s

Akala ko dati, mga rich kid lang yung kayang makaafford ng restos aside sa Jollibee and Mcdo. And tbh, I also thought we have a lot of money when my mother brings me to Jabee and Mcdo, occassionally.

Now that I’m an adult, I can finally try and afford restaurants that I thought I’m gonna leave empty pocket or I’m never gonna even afford!

Nagluha ako nung sinusubo ko yung chicken wings na sobrang init pa, yung luha ko, may kasama ring tears of joy 🤣. Honestly, I did not like the taste of Frankie’s but at least it made me ponder on things I’ve achieved so far.

So no, it’s not just about Frankies per se. It’s about small wins in life that I used to think as a kid, is too far fetched. Truly, malayo pa, pero malayo na. Sumakses nawa tayong lahat na lumalaban nang patas.

Reaching almost 500k savings at 25

First time kong magkaron ng ganito kalaking savings after working for over 2 years. Walang generational wealth ang pamilya namin at halos breadwinner nila ako since marami akong sinasagot sa bahay at binibigay sa nanay ko so hindi biro sakin yung milestone na ‘to.

Once I reached my first 100k, natuwa akong mag-ipon. Actually, my savings went up to more than 600k but I got laid off from my recent remote role 🥹. Dalawa sana flairs ko for today’s video: sumakses sa life at pagsubok hahahaha. Since I’ve saved enough, I took the opportunity to rest after that because I also got stressed a lot from my previous role and ofc from being laid off kasi yun pa rin naman yung bread and butter ko. Because of it, bumalik lang ulit sa dati which is yung nasa post ko. Narealize ko ulit how important it is to have emergency funds and savings because it really is a safety net lalo na sa hirap ng ekonomiya ngayon, kahit mga mukhang stable na kumpanya, nagle-layoff na rin. I got my new job na and I also started my own business because I got so scared na mawalan ulit at madrain ang savings ko. Good luck sating lahat at manifesting sa ating financial wins in life. <3

I got laid off from my first remote contractual job that I chose in exchange of my previous stable job

I quit my tiring yet stable onsite job at a big MNC after 2 years to shift to an independent contractor role to a startup company. Some might say it is a foolish move, a gamble even, but believe me, 12 hours of work and weekend work got the best of me. It drained the hell out of me as if I’ve already worked for 10 years there. I also kinda knew the stakes in becoming a freelancer although I did not expect that actual realization and experience witll hit me hard early.

Of course, I was really hopeful at first but I tried my best to prepare for the worst and lived within my means. This remote role isn’t exactly a greener pasture, it stressed the hell out of me due to the heavy workload and unsupportive management. I just kept thinking this is my bread and butter for now and it pays well. However, after only half a year in my role, what I feared the most happened, I got laid off mainly because the startup company isn’t doing well. The HR was vague to me, I don’t know if they just don’t want to break it to me harshly but what they said is it’s more of their financial issues rather than my performance. I knew I did my best despite the heavy workload thrown at me and I never missed a day at work but I can’t help but lose a bit of my confidence. However, I’ve heard that they’ve laid off long-term employees as well and for my peace, I just started to believe it’s on them.

On the brighter side though, I’ve saved quite more than enough from both from my recent and previous jobs that is to sustain me and my family (I help in our house expenses). I was really frustrated and I spiralled for a few days thinking if I can navigate through this failing economy as unemployed. I got severelt depressed. How can I help my family when I’m their ‘almost’ breadwinner. Then somehwhat somehow through the long days of being unemploted, I and my life partner had a light bulb moment. We will start a business that we’re both passionate about. I’ve always wanted to start a business but I never really had the time. This time though, I had all the time in the world to think and rest because I actually needed it. I sometimes shoot my shot in applying for a new remote role but I’m not expecting much to be hired because I’m also fine focusing on my business for a few months but dang, I got hired after almost 3 months of being unemployed. I think I got lowballed though because it’s much lower than my previous but I’m still grateful I will have something to add to my business’ capital and it has other benefits too unlike my previous role.

I’m not trying to be toxic positive but I’d like to believe me getting laid off is a sign from the universe that I can and should do something more, something I’m really passionate about which I never felt from my previous jobs because well long story short, I took my college course out of practicality. I’m really hoping for the best for all of us.

Tldr: i got laid off from my first remote work that I chose in exchange of my previous stable job. I learned the lesson from being a freelancer HARD that I was pushed to start another side hustle because the economy now is no joke. I’m just happy I somehow got my sparks back after losing it after I started working almost 3 years ago. Hoping for the best for all of us especially for those who are also facing struggles as a freelancer :>
