Those with severe endo & adenomyosis, did suppression with frozen transfer work?

I'm potentially going into my third and absolute final round of IVF and I'm hoping to hear your experiences.

I have severe endometriosis adenomyosis. I had specialist excision surgery to remove all of my endometriosis in February. Along with removal of endometriosis, I also lost both of my fallopian tubes. Surgeon had no choice but to do a bilateral salpingectomy as both of my fallopian tubes were far too damaged to be fixed.

The clinic I'm with have always known that I have endometriosis but haven't ever suggested any suppression or frozen transfer before. What they're hoping to do now is full cycle to retrieve my eggs and use the ICSI method to fertalise. They then want me to be on some form of suppression for 2 to 3 months before a frozen transfer. Has this worked for anyone before? They believe my last embryo fail to implant due to inflammation from all the drugs. I'm really gutted they didn't think to do this in the first place! Here's what I've had done before

1st Round (NHS) in late 2024/early 2025

- Down regulation for 1 month

- Max dose stims

- 3 eggs

- 1 fertalised & became a high quality blasto

- Although implanted, became a loss at 8 weeks

2nd Round - June 2026

- Shorter protocol, milder dose of stims

- 2 eggs

- 2 fertalised

- 1 blasto, even better quality

- Failed to implant entirely

Any hope, guidance, positive experiences would be great to hear.

Ladies with endo. Anyone only get 1 or 2 embryos and had their miracle baby?

We're considering doing our 3rd and final round (UK based couple) because we can no longer afford any more IVF if we decide to go ahead with a final round (being quoted £14.5K). We are so torn. I have stage 4 Endo, adeno, and in January this year, I had excision surgery to remove it all but in the process, had to have my fallopian tubes removed.

Surgery has reduced my egg reserve by loads. I now only get 2 or 3 eggs per cycle. My body doesn't respond very well to stims.

I'm feeling really deflated and lost right now. I've literally lost all hope but we're considering one last round because I have such kind family who have offered to help to pay for the next round if we decide to go ahead.

I'm just looking for some kind of hope or something I suppose. I'm currently trying to process the possibility of never having a biological child but I just can't accept it.

Those who had kids in their late 30s / early 40s and now have teenagers, how is life going now?

Are there any older people in here that had kids when they were 38-43 and now have teenagers? I'd love to know your experiences and how it's going. Has it made you happier, more fulfilled? Has it been challenging and do you regret it?

Experiences from people of colour UK, adopting a child of a different race. Or adoptees with a parent of a different race

My husband and I are considering adoption. We live in a quaint village in the UK. He is white and I am Indian, born and raised here in the UK.

Adoption is something that has been heavy on our hearts for a while, but we don't know many couples like us who have adopted. We would love to know if having a different race, mother or father has ever affected a child's upbringing, or how a different race mother or father raise their adopted child.

We haven't actually gone through the process yet, but it is something we are looking to do towards the end of this year. When I have spoken to my husband, about the race of a baby we may be adopt me and how that might play out in their lives as they grow up. He has mentioned to me how we have friends that are same-sex couples, who have children together through sperm donor or egg donor and so families come in all different variations now and now children growing up don't really care about who's got what parent etc.

I just really love to hear the perspective of others that have been in this situation and their experiences.

EDIT UPDATE: to be clear, we don't mind adopting a child of a difference race but as my partner is white, we're happy with a child who is white, or a child who is Indian as I am indian, or a child who is mixed heritage of white and Indian. We just wanted to know if we adopted an indian child, how they would feel with a white parent or vice versa, if we adopted a white child, how they would feel with an indian parent, or would this not affect a child's upbringing much?

One last round? Positive stories pls.

Hello all,

My partner and I are toying with the idea of one last round of IVF before it's all over. Has anyone gotten to the stage of one last round and it's finally worked? I'm looking for positive stories or hope I guess though I know that means absolutely nothing for my journey as it's so individual. I'm just curious.

Back story.

We're in the UK, I'm F40, and he's 43. We met a little bit later on in life but knew we wanted a family together. We bought a house with enough room for raising a family but endometriosis and adenomyosis had other plans. 2 years into our relationship I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis with frozen pelvis. I had surgeries for this in 2023 and we were on an NHS waiting list for IVF. We didn't start IVF until 18 months after my surgery because that's how long the waiting list was!

I was rushed through the process as I needed for me to start injecting before my 39th birthday. Through scans I kept getting told that my ovaries were sitting in awkward positions etc. Which way is questions about my endometriosis being back so soon after surgery. We continued with the process and to our surprise against all odds, with my body responding very minimally to stimulation, (only retrieved 3 eggs, 2 fertalised, 1 high quality blastocyst), We fell pregnant on this round, unfortunately losing this pregnancy at 8 weeks as the embryo wasn't growing as expected.

Ask for what to this February, off the back of investigating if endometriosis was back, I had a surgery to remove all endometriosis again. This time I lost my fallopian tubes. The plan was to try naturally after this surgery but obviously that can't happen now. So we've had one round that we agreed would be the last round as it was £10k to start from scratch, and we would accept that Parenthood and a family wasn't meant for us. My body responded very similarly to last time, basically getting the same numbers. This time the embryo was of a higher quality. However, there was complete implantation failure this time. I threw everything at this round. The supplements, trying to live toxic free, hundreds of pounds on acupuncture.

We were devastated and have to been trying to come to terms with what our future may look like with no children. Really struggling with that, currently in therapy. It's been about 3 weeks since the negative pregnancy test.

Where we are now...

Had a review with my fertility clinic and they have told me what they would do differently this time. PGT-A testing, putting me on something to shrink my adenomyosis for 2 months, so embryo freezing is needed if I get any viable embryos this time etc. so the cost will be in excess of £14K.

My sweet, beautiful mum had a chat with me the other day and has offered me the money for the next round, We wouldn't take it all from my mum because that just wouldn't be fair at all. She's insistent and so if we did go for another round we would put in some money ourselves too. But we're really unsure of whether we should even go through another round at all when it looks like my odds are so low and just accept it's over.

Really not sure how to play it.

Thanks in advance.

UK Peeps - Best friend offering to be surrogate. Costs, contracts, what do we need to know etc

Hello all,

I'm new to Reddit. Please be kind.

I have been struggling to concieve as I have stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis. I had surgery for this recently and lost both my fallopian tubes due to the damage that Endo had done (bilateral salpingectomy).

I've had an IVF pregnancy that resulted in a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks, and I've had a failed implantation on my next round of IVF.

I have a dear close friend who I've known since childhood and is in a same sex marriage with children. She is genuinely the most kindest person in the world. She really wants to help and has offered multiple times to be our surrogate. It would be our embryo being implanted into her. So it will be biologically our child if it all went to plan (so a gestational pregnancy).

My friend has said she doesn't want anything for it, she just wants to help my partner and I have a family of our own. Even her wife has offered to help, but my friend is the younger out the two so thinks she may be the better fit. She had her daughter 13 years ago now.

I'm just wondering if anyone in the UK has had a best friend be their surrogate and what the cost of this was if there was any cost involved with the surrogacy itself. I know we obviously have to pay for the IVF process again, but what else would we need to think about?

I'd love if someone could break down their surrogacy journey using a friend. Just trying to map out all the things we'd need to think of and how much we'd need to budget for this.

I am based in the West Midlands so I'm guessing costs will be cheaper than London but still willing to hear from anyone anywhere in the UK.
