What PDF features only pro software has

Hello everyone, I am developing my own PDF editor called KeyPDF. I have been working on it for over a year from scratch, so every new feature is not really dependent on the limitations of third-party software. Therefore, I wanted to ask what kind of features keep you using expensive software. So far, I have implemented text editing and a good level of JavaScript support. I am thinking in the direction of scripts to automate edits or maybe advanced DRM on PDF files. So, if you have any ideas on what kind of advanced features I should add, please let me know.

KeyPDF - an actual PDF editor in your browser

I was working on this tool for over a year and made a PDF editor from scratch. You can edit existing text, redact, annotate, fill forms, and I made it run fully locally so you don't have to deal with signups and upload rates. You can try it at https://keypdf.net

Built PDF Engine from scratch. It can edit text locally in browser

I spent over 14 months writing a PDF engine from scratch, and you can see how it works above first couple of months I spent thinking about architecture, then I slowly added support to most of the font encodings, then added vector graphic support, and finally brought images, and after around half a year of debugging and building complex features like redaction of text I am pretty much done and launching a beta you can try at keypdf.net

Unlike most of the PDF editors in the browser, mine can edit text, while others can only annotate or require server uploads with rate limits, so feel free to try KeyPDF

KeyPDF Free PDF editor

I was working for around 14 months to create KeyPDF, a free PDF editor from scratch that lives in your browser. It can actually edit existing text and images, not only annotate like most of the other editors online. Also, all files are processed locally, and there is no need for server uploads and even Internet connections after the initial load.

I'm a student and spent over a year building KeyPDF, a free Acrobat alternative from scratch, it edits PDF text and images right in your browser.

Hello Reddit, so as it is said in a title, I made a PDF editor from scratch after a frustration I got when I needed to edit some simple PDF file and found out that my only option was heavy desktop apps for a $100+/year subscription or scammy sites with mostly fake promises like "REAL PDF EDITING" when in fact the so-called editing was just annotations. I started in spring 2025 and thought it was light work, and boy, was I wrong. It turns out it's all complicated, and existing tools are not matching my goal to edit PDF files on client side in browser, so I had to build my own. I started making a new PDF engine and expanding it, read hundreds of pages of documentation, and solved uncountable numbers of bugs, so today I would like you to try the first public version of KeyPDF, a brand new browser PDF editor.

Try it Keypdf

https://reddit.com/link/1uod0l1/video/6dk6fl3r2hbh1/player

I spend over a half year making new pdf editor as i saw many browser based pdf editors simply cannot edit, they offer annotations shapes and all that but not edit so i decided to build my own and decided to make pdf engine from scratch in order to make it optimal for editing and now viewing as every other pdf library made in js, and since it is new product with its own engine i really need feedback to make it better as those existing apps based on libs that exist for years and decades so please if you want to try in browser local true pdf editing check keypdf, it is totally free and does not contain any ads or trackers, my goal is to impove it and make best in browser pdf editor.
