3 years of guitar, little experience with pedals. Couple questions for gearheads.

  1. Are non-Dunlop Wah pedals worth it? They’re a lot cheaper but I don’t want a piece of crap.

  2. What distortion pedals are best? I’ve got a big muff on loan from a friend, but once he wants it back what should I get? (I’m guessing Marshall MG50FX built in overdrive won’t cut it)

  3. Anything else necessary? I have a Sheeran + looper but other than that I don’t actually own any pedals. Preferably budget-ish, I’m a high schooler earning like 100 bucks a week from maccas.

Getting into gigs

Hey guys, I’m under 18 but I’ve got into 18+ gigs before, and I’m wondering if you think I’d be able to get into the forum for Matt Berninger without valid physical id. I do know guys who sell fake ids (I could get a digital one for like 40 bucks, my friends use them to buy alcohol and shit so I know they work).
Thanks for your help

16m, Motion Picture Soundtrack cover. I’m a complete singing beginner but I’m intermediate in guitar and I have a good grasp of music theory. Please help me improve.

16 year old boy here, I really love music and playing the guitar and I’ve always wanted to be able to sing. Some people tell me I sound awful, others say I’m completely out of key (I personally think this clip is mostly in key but my ear isn’t amazing, especially for singing). I have a bit of musical training, I can guess intervals with like borderline 100% accuracy when I’m locked in (only when they’re played on a guitar by someone else though) and I can improvise on a guitar for ages without hitting wrong notes.

If this clip is complete, out of key rubbish, I’d appreciate it if you could tell me, but otherwise I’d like some advice. The song is motion picture Soundtrack by Radiohead.

How do I improve? 16M, I have 3 years experience playing guitar and a good grasp of music theory, but I can’t seem to get my voice sounding good. Not sure if it’s tone or pitch or whatever. Pls help.

Guitarist here. I’ve been playing almost 3 years, I can tell pretty much perfectly when a note I play is off key, and my aural interval and chord recognition is getting quite good. I can sing scales with varying success, same with intervals. Problem is, whenever I try to sing along with a track/song or my own playing, I’m pretty much always COMPLETELY off key it’s ridiculous. It sounds great to me whilst I’m singing but then I listen to the recording and ask my friends and they say it’s shit. How can I fix this? I really love music and I’ve always wanted to be able to sing well. Thanks so much
