Bought myself a pump upgrade as a birthday present to myself

Bought myself a pump upgrade as a birthday present to myself

I turned 31 last week and used my birthday money on a breast pump. If you told me that a few years ago, I would've laughed.

I've been pumping for almost a year now, and honestly I think I was more excited about getting a little bit of my time and energy back than getting a new gadget.

This past year has been wonderful, but also exhausting in ways I didn't expect. The constant cycle of feeding, pumping, washing parts, doing laundry, getting up at night, and somehow still trying to function during the day really adds up. There have been days where it felt like the entire day revolved around the next pumping session.

My old pump still worked, but I finally decided to spend some birthday money on something that might make the process a little easier. I used it for the first time this morning and so far it seems promising, but honestly the biggest thing I'm hoping for isn't better output or fancy features.

I'm just hoping for one less thing to think about every day.

Maybe that's what your thirties look like. A few years ago I would've bought myself something fun. This year I bought myself a little convenience and the possibility of being slightly less tired.

And strangely enough, it feels like a pretty good birthday present. ❤️

They're checking the clock to see who's next to ride the robovac

You know robovac has a strict schedule. They should check to see whose shift is up.

just switched from android and magsafe is the one thing I didn't expect to care about

Came from a pixel 7 pro. Expected to miss the customization, the notification system, the back tap gestures. Didn't expect the thing I'd like most about iphone to be sticking magnets to the back of it.

I have an anker maggo slim that snaps on for charging, a wallet that snaps on when I go out, and I just ordered a car mount that's magnetic too. The whole ecosystem of stuff that just clicks onto the phone without a case or clip is something I never knew I wanted.

Android has Qi charging but the magnetic alignment thing changes how you interact with accessories completely. Nobody told me about this part when I switched

I went away for the whole weekend and didn't bring a single charger for my pump

We went to my parents' cottage near Muskoka this weekend and I packed everything for EP like I always do. Pump, cooler, storage bags, the whole routine. But when I was packing I realized I didn't need to bring any cables or chargers because the eufy s2s charging case holds enough battery for days. I just dropped the cups in the case after each session the way I always do and it kept everything charged the entire weekend without me plugging anything in.

I know it sounds like a small thing but for a cottage with barely any outlets and no convenient place to set up a charging station, it made the whole trip so much easier. I didn't have to think about finding a plug or worry about the pump dying mid-session. I just pumped on the dock in the morning, on the porch in the afternoon, and on the couch at night, and everything just worked.

I used to stress so much about pump logistics when we went away for the weekend and this time I barely thought about it. It was really nice to just enjoy the trip and pump when I needed to without any extra planning.

It’s been on the windowsill for a week…

I got a backup power unit for my fridge, and I originally planned to move it behind the fridge once I figured out the setup.

A week later, it’s still sitting on the windowsill next to my cactus, and now I’m starting to think it actually works in that little corner. It wasn't supposed to be part of the room decor, but somehow it doesn't look as out of place as I expected.

I’ll probably still move it eventually, but I’m curious — has anyone else ever had a temporary setup that ended up fitting your space better than planned?

my boyfriend moved across the country for work

He got an offer in Seattle and we talked about it and agreed it was too good to turn down. I'm in Philly. We've been together for 3 years, and this is the first time we've done long distance.

It's been about 6 weeks, and we FaceTime every night before bed. It's become our little ritual where we both get into bed, prop our phones up, and just talk about our days. Sometimes we even fall asleep on the call. It's obviously not the same as being together, but it's helped more than I expected.

I keep my phone on a charging stand with a kickstand on my nightstand, so it stays charged while we talk and I don't have to hold it. It's a small thing, but it makes our nightly calls a lot more comfortable since we're usually on for about an hour.

He's coming to visit in 2 weeks, and I'm already counting down the days. Long distance is hard, but so far we've found a routine that makes it feel a little easier.

EP during a heatwave in Ontario

It's 35 degrees in my house right now and we don't have AC. I turned the heating off on my wearable pump for the first time ever because the air is doing that job for free at this point. I've just been carrying my water bottle and my pump from room to room chasing wherever the fan is pointed and pumping wherever I end up.

My worry is the milk though. I feel like I'm producing less this week and I can't tell if that's the heat or if I'm just not drinking enough. I usually leave the milk on the counter while I clean up but there's no way that's ok when the house is this warm, right? I've been putting it straight in the fridge but I'm honestly not sure how fast it goes bad in this kind of heat.

If any Ontario moms are pumping through this please tell me what you're doing because I am struggling.

I refuse to pump in the company wellness room

My company has a "wellness room" which is literally a converted bathroom with a chair. It and it's not the most comfortable space.

I've been desk pumping instead and it's so much better but I feel guilty, like I'm supposed to use the room they provided. Anyone else just pump at their desk?
