Just upgraded from Pixel 7 Pro to iPhone 17 Pro — here’s my honest take after 5 days

After years as a die-hard Android user with my Pixel 7 Pro, I made the jump to the iPhone 17 Pro…

and I’m actually enjoying it more than I expected.
I still own the Pixel and I still prefer its still photos.the colors, detail, and computational photography are hard to beat. But the iPhone’s portrait mode is excellent, and shooting ProRes 4K has been a revelation.

I run a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K as my main A-cam, and the iPhone is turning out to be a fantastic B-camera. File matching in post is so much smoother now.

On the ecosystem side, I still have my old 2011 iMac (now mostly a data archive), but my daily driver is a Windows Asus VivoBook S15 with 32GB RAM and Intel Evo. Surprisingly, the iPhone pairs with it really well. It actually felt easier to integrate than I expected the VivoBook feels Mac-like in a lot of ways.

I’ve always preferred Apple computers in the past, but these days other platforms have caught up nicely.
Only had the 17 Pro for five days and I’m still getting used to iOS, but overall I’m liking the experience so far. The camera workflow upgrade has been the biggest win.

Fellow switchers, how has the Android to iPhone transition treated you, especially with mixed computer setups?
