How hard is the equivalency

Medicine in Egypt?

I’m Egyptian but live in the UK and have got my A level results a couple of days ago, and they were way worse than I expected. My parents are now moving me back to Egypt. Is this a good idea, or should I gap and go to a European school like in Bulgaria/Georgia? The biggest problem is that you have to learn the language. I don’t know what to do or what the best option is. I know coming back to the UK as an IMG is now impossible, so I’ll probably have to go elsewhere anyways after finishing resitting and trying med school here is impossible now as they don’t accept resits and I have not done the UCAT.

What’s the job market like in the UK?

I’m waiting on my A-level results and I have an offer to study management at UCL, but I’m worried I made the wrong choice. My passion is to go into finance and work in investment banking, but that’s what everyone also wants. I keep asking myself what makes me different compared to everyone else? I didn’t get into a top target university or a top target course.

I don’t have connections in the finance industry and I keep researching online, and all I read are doomer posts about people struggling to even find a normal job, even outside elite finance roles. Am I making the right choice doing this degree? Or will it just be a waste of time? It would be a nightmare to graduate and only find shit back office roles making 30k a year.

Does graduating from a UK university have an advantage?

Hello, I’m 19 years old, a UK citizen, and planning on going abroad to study medicine, either in a European country or back in my home country. I’ve already taken a year out to apply for medical schools in the UK but have failed again. I know how inferior this looks, but this is the situation I’m dealing with, so I’m asking: is it worth taking another year out to reapply, or maybe apply as a postgraduate, or just go abroad? If my plan is to sit the USMLE and go to the USA, will a UK university be a huge advantage and worth taking another gap year?

Am I the problem for not wanting to study in Egypt?

Hello, I’m 18, male. I was born in Egypt but now live in the UK. Both my parents are doctors; they went to university in Egypt, sat the equivalency exam, and came to the UK. Anyways, now that I’m 18 and finished school, my parents want to send me to study medicine here in Egypt because I couldn’t get in in the UK. I’m very against this and think it’s a bad idea because I will have to live alone because I have no family left here, and it’s going to be very challenging. Also, the degree is practically useless. So basically, I will be studying for five years for a useless degree that doesn’t mean anything unless I spend more years studying for the equivalency exams, and there is no guarantee you can come back to the UK or go to another first-world country. Am I wrong for not wanting to go and say I’m wasting a huge opportunity and that every other degree is useless here? What do you guys think?

Which UK university to choose?

Results day is on the 13th August. I currently have an offer from UCL for Statistics, Economics, and Finance. Requirement: A* in Mathematics. I don’t think I got that most likely A or B. Insurance is Durham for Finance and the offer is BBB. I think Durham is a semi target even though it’s a top 6 university and higher than UCL.

I’ve been scrolling through clearing for and found a course at UCL and saw a management course available, will it be looked down upon? It looks like a Mickey Mouse course and I think it’s brand new. Is it worth it for the University name or will I regret it?

Anyone have any experience with this university it’s a private medical school GMC accredited that’s costs 40k a year. I’m considering it as a last resort if I miss my offer.

Studying in Egypt as an international

I’m an 18-year-old male Egyptian who has spent most of my life in Kuwait, then moved to the UK. My father is a doctor in the UK, but due to circumstances, studying medicine here isn’t realistic. My options are either to pay extremely high international tuition fees or return to Egypt to study.
I wanted to ask what it’s actually like studying medicine in Egypt. Although I was born there, I’ve never really lived in Egypt apart from occasional summer holidays, so it would be a completely new experience for me.
I’ve already applied to public universities because many of them have a good reputation and rank well internationally. However, I’m also considering private universities. They seem to have more modern facilities and campuses, but I’m concerned that some of them aren’t listed on WDOMS, which could affect my ability to pursue certain licensing pathways and exams in the future.

My long term goal is to work abroad. I know returning to the UK is becoming increasingly difficult because of the recent changes to immigration. I also don’t have the right to work, so I’m also considering countries like the USA or Australia. At the moment, I’m leaning towards the USA because I have several relatives there who successfully went through the USMLE pathway.
That said, from what I’ve read, matching into a US residency as an international medical graduate is incredibly demanding. It requires excellent exam scores, strong clinical experience, research, and, to some extent, luck.

On top of that, no one really knows what the situation will look like in another five to seven years. For anyone studying medicine in Egypt and is going through the USMLE or another international pathway, would you recommend studying in Egypt? Would you recommend public university Is there anything you wish you had known before making that decision? Remove the part where I put about choosing colleges and translate to Egyptian

What should I do? Am I the problem here?

I’m an 19 years old male living with my parents and siblings. On 29 July, sometime after 2:00 a.m., while we were all asleep, a man broke into our house. Nobody heard him. The intruder knocked some items onto the floor, sat on our sofa, found my car keys, and took them before leaving. He also left the lights on and the front door open.
He then took my car on what was essentially a joyride. When I eventually found the car, it only had around 40 miles of range left. Luckily, I found it about a five-minute walk from my house. The keys were gone, but I had a spare set, so I was able to drive it back home.

My parents called the police, but they said it wasn’t an emergency and that they would come the following day to examine the house.
Fast forward to the night of 30 July. We were all understandably on edge, but my father didn’t seem particularly concerned about what had happened. Before going to bed, we made sure all the doors were locked. However, my dad insisted on leaving one of the ground-floor windows open all night because he needed to charge one of his cars. The window can be opened very easily from the outside.

I told him that someone could easily open the window and climb through it, especially since the intruder still had my car keys and could easily come back. We started arguing, and I said that leaving the window open was a stupid decision and that he didn’t seem to care much about what had happened.
He became extremely angry and started beating me for around ten minutes. He repeatedly punched me in the body, leaving me with multiple bruises. I never hit him back I just stood there and took it. He kept shouting at me, telling me not to question him and not to call him stupid. I’m fairly certain the whole neighbourhood could hear us. This all happened at around 1:00 a.m.
Afterwards, I went straight to my room and avoided him before eventually going to sleep.
The following morning, my mum is very angry at me arguing with me and said that I was the one in the wrong. She told me I should have been more respectful to my dad and that I needed to apologise to him, even though I don’t believe I did anything wrong.

She then told me that if I didn’t apologise, I would have to leave the house as soon as possible. I have nowhere else to go. I only have 1,000 to my name and an aunt who lives in a completely different country. I don’t even know if she would be willing or able to take me in.

Sorry for the long post. I honestly don’t know what to do. Is there something else I should be doing?

How are you supposed to afford the training?

Especially in the UK, you need a CAA licence to work in the UK. Especially since the UK left the EU, we can no longer work there, and no European school offers a CAA licence, so you are forced to train in the UK. Integrated training is £130k, and the lowest is £110k, and that’s in GBP, not Euro. It’s insane. Even if you go modular, it’s still going to be £90k, not really saving much. I’m just wondering how you are ever meant to save this up unless you have rich, well off parents? Should you take a loan out from a bank over 10 years? Will you even get approved? I’m just wondering because my passion is to be a pilot, but it seems to be a profession just for the wealthy.

Medicine in Egypt or in Europe?

:

How much will it cost to build your own home?

I’ve been looking at buying a homestead, but the prices are absolutely insane, so I am wondering if it would be cheaper to just build my own home. I would be looking at purchasing 15 acres of land, which goes for around £200k, then build a house on it, which will cost another £300-400k, so all together would be £600k, which is incredibly cheap for what I’m getting. Am I missing something? Why would anyone buy an already built homestead going for £1-1.5 million?

Is this path even achievable?

Is this path worth it anymore for non-us IMG not green card holders? You spend many years in medical school finish spend lots of money in sitting the USMLE doing USCES sacrificing everything just to apply to a residency program with only 30-35% odds of matching?

Even if you match you have to go on a J1 Visa which is a NON-IMMIGRATION VISA where you have to lie say that you are not intending to immigrate and have to show proof of funds back home etc to even get it approved. Essentially you have spent the past decade of your life working your ass off just to not even have be able to Immigrate to the US?

The only way around this is to a waiver job in a random hell hole in the US for 3 years and then you are at the mercy of your employer whether you can get a H1B. Furthermore, there could be a huge backlog because of your country of birth essentially meaning you will never get green card let alone citizenship. What an absolute joke you spend your whole life essentially being a second class human.

I wanted to ask how difficult it is and if anyone has done it before, if they can tell me what the interview questions are about. I’ve been using politest.com to prepare so far.
