Is it worth going into finance?

Hello, I’m a uk student and I’m having second thought on my university offers. I have an offer from UCL to study economics (i got rejected from LSE) anyways is it a right choice to go into finance now? Especially with how competitive everything now is and I have no family connections? is it worth the effort and the slight chance that you get a good role what if you just end up in back office etc?

Is a career in finance worth it?

Hello I’m 18 years old Final year of school and debating whether to go down the finance route or Medicine. I’m in the UK so Target universities here are different but I have an offer from a London university that I would say is In between target and semi target. It’s top 9 in the World but I’m not sure whether I should go or not? reading online I can see that a career in finance is very competitive and hard to get into if you don’t have connections.

The only way is to go into a target and get internships etc and is it worth it for the slight chance that you could end up in high finance what if you end up stuck in middle office or back office because you fail the interviews or you are just unlikeable etc? what would be the best option?

[IWantOut] 19M UK -> USA

Hello, I’m 19 years old male and live in the UK and I really hate it here and I want out the place is just very miserable and there is no life here.

I’m a first year in university (studying medicine but I hate that too but that’s for other reasons) anyways what are my best bet for moving to the US in the next couple of years I have a lot family there Uncles and cousins and grandparents but no immediate family. I’ve read about the diversity lottery visa but that’s only a 1% chance so not ideal at all.

So What’s the best option for me is it applying for masters there and then applying for jobs is that viable? I have read about OPT how likely are you to get a job if you are on that?

UK to US

Hello I’m in the UK and want to leave to the US applying for jobs and getting a work visa there seems impossible. The only possible way so far is get a company transfer So I wanted to ask how likely are these transfer do they only happen to the people in top management roles? how likely is it to get a transfer to a branch in the US. Is it something that you can request? Or just based on the firm and how important you are.

UK to USA

Hello I wanted to ask about how possible it is for me to move to the US in the future. I’m fed up with the UK this place is miserable.

My background. I’m 19 years old in my first year of Medical school here in the UK I want to know how likely it is for me to move there in the next coming years I’ve looked online and have found out about sitting equivalency exams and how competitive it is to practice medicine in the US how viable is this process?

I also have family in the US who are doctors who have done this process but that was decades ago and I’m not in much contact with them. Is medicine equivalency one of the hardest ways to immigrate to the US?

international student from the UK

So I’m in the UK and have an unconditional offer to study at UCL I have ABB in my A levels in Stem subjects (I know they can be better). I know this is a great opportunity but I really want to move out from the UK and live in the US so my options are either study undergrad here and then masters at US or take a gap year and sit the SATs and apply to undergrad in the US can someone tell me what are the requirements for entry into t20-30 schools what score should I aim for in the SATs and I know extracurricular are massive in the US compared to here I still have some but nothing to impressive. Will me taking a gap year be a seen as a problem? My main purpose in studying in the US is to move to the US

I have absolutely no clue what to do after 6th form I’m in year 13 I have offers to study at university but I’m so scared I won’t meet those offers I need an A in math and right now I’m no where near that because of applied papers. What if I don’t get in? What am I suppose to do now I wanted to go into finance after so the university you go to matters a lot so I can’t just go to a random one in clearing and the though of resitting is painful what am I supposed to do now? this is horrible I really hate 6th form
