Conservation/Restoration threat?

I have been doing some cleaning/pressing on books in my collection, but I have (so far) stuck to dry cleaning, humidity tank and pressing but I’ve been watching some amazing results with HOP method and blue light which is tempting to try.

My question is that with some of these techniques being pretty aggressive (like removing the cover and soaking) and producing such dramatic results what is the concern that it will come back from CGC with a “Conserved” or the dreaded “Restored” blue label? Is it just a crapshoot like everything we send in to CGC, or are there ways to minimize the effects or at least the tell-tale signs? Or are these best just done on PC for nice presenting copies?

What do you all think? Anyone sent a book off after doing a bunch of work on it only to have it come back as conserved/restored? When is it best to leave it, even if it’s a grade lower but untampered with beyond a dry cleaning and pressing?

How do we handle a first appearance on an advance book?

I got #7 & #10 from the blind bag. I haven’t read them yet but I wondered, what if there is a first appearance in say #6 and they are also in #7, would #7 be considered their first appearance since it came out 6 months prior to #6?

When articles came out declaring the Absolute Batman preview in DC Connect his first appearance the collectors started clamoring for it.

Are we headed for a similar debate? (Obviously if there’s no first appearance this is just a theoretical question)

Advice: best dry cleaning products

I’ve read that many folks use Swiffer pads and cotton rounds, also I just got an Absorene eraser but haven’t used it yet, but what are the favorites, recommendations or other lesser known products or things to stay away from. Thanks in advance!

Bought one bag, got #7 (and then bought the die-cut variant)

I bought one blind bag, opened it at the shop before leaving and got this “ultra rare” #7. I’m really curious how the regular #7 will look when it comes out in 6mos. I assume it won’t have “ultra rare” printed on the cover.

My favorite cover of them all is this beautiful die-cut, to me it’s the real standout of all the covers, especially seeing it in person! (Well maybe not compared to the 1:2500 Kubert sketch, but other than that.)

[Discussion] I have just finished the first arc of *Bleeding Hearts* and I don’t know anyone else reading it! Wow! Maybe also [spoiler]

I have read in various subs that many people are reading and enjoying Bleeding Hearts on Vertigo, but I haven’t seen any discussion on the conclusion to the first arc, cuz man! did it hit! I also don’t know anyone else irl who are reading it. So I’m curious, who’s reading it? Who’s caught up? Who else got to that part and went daaayaaaam!

My first puppet, the final boss in my daughter’s indie video game

My daughter has been building and just released her first video game on Steam, called Indigo’s Dreams. It’s an 8bit multimedia platformer that utilizes stopmotion, collage backgrounds, claymation and a puppet as the final boss. I helped with claymation and built this puppet from her pixel art sketch. After I did my interpretation of the Mutant King she changed the boss in her game to match more closely. He is featured in a cutscene before the final battle.

I was curious to see what folks here in the puppet thread thought about it and about puppets in a video game.
