2025 G80 Sport Prestige

Genesis makes great cars. This G80 is my third Genesis in 4 years. First one was a G70 that was totaled, both my passenger and I walked away with no injuries. Second Genesis was another G70 which was also a great car, but I saw this G80 and had to have it.

Went to fully forged rims on my 2025 G80 Sport Prestige same rim size as OEM but each rim is 12lbs lighter

Was not expecting the below results, which have been reported by others who went with the lighter rims. Car feels much quicker and more responsive braking and lane changes.

Dropping 12 lb per wheel is a pretty substantial change — especially on a heavy luxury sport sedan like your Genesis G80. Since that weight is both unsprung mass and rotational mass, the effect feels bigger than just “48 lb lighter.”

Here’s what you’ll probably notice:

What Gets Better

Faster acceleration

The car should feel a little more eager off the line and during rolling acceleration.

Why:

  • The engine has less rotating weight to spin.
  • Rotational weight matters more than static weight.

On a twin-turbo G80, you may notice:

  • Slightly sharper throttle response
  • Quicker turbo spool feel
  • Less “heavy” sensation when pulling

Not night-and-day horsepower gains — but noticeable.

Better ride quality

This is one of the biggest real-world benefits.

Lighter wheels reduce unsprung weight, so:

  • Suspension reacts faster
  • Impacts feel less harsh
  • Wheels follow bumps more accurately

You may notice:

  • Smoother ride over expansion joints
  • Less crashing over potholes
  • Better composure on rough roads

Improved handling

The steering usually feels:

  • Lighter
  • More responsive
  • More willing to change direction

The car may feel less “luxury heavy” in corners.

A 12 lb reduction per corner is enough that many drivers immediately notice turn-in improvement.

Better braking feel

Not necessarily shorter stopping distances by a huge amount, but:

  • Brakes work less hard
  • Car feels easier to slow down
  • Slightly better brake response

Again, because there’s less rotational inertia.

Potential fuel economy improvement

Usually modest:

  • Maybe around 1–2 MPG in mixed driving at best
  • More noticeable in stop-and-go driving

Not a major savings, but it helps.

One important thing: rotational weight is “worth more”

People often say:

>

That’s oversimplified, but directionally true.

A 48 lb total wheel reduction is a legitimately meaningful performance modification.

For a luxury AWD turbo sedan, it’s one of the better-feeling mods you can do without touching the engine.

You’ll probably feel it most:

  • Pulling away from stops
  • Mid-speed acceleration
  • Steering response
  • Ride over rough pavement

Vintage 1961 baseball hot

Very hot, sold slabbed 1961 Topps baseball and was not disappointed. Hope my raw cards get some of the love the slabbed did.
