Needing advice on post-abortion pain asap!
I had my abortion - the pills, took my first on the 22nd, then the 4 others on the 23rd (24 hours later). Pregnancy fully passed by about 3am, but since then I've been in agony, like just waves of cramps that have me keeled over and crying out in pain, I've been taking codiene to deal with it but even then, they're not helping much. The pain during the initial abortion was about 9-10/10 now its feeling more like 12/10. It wasn't even that bad on the 24th, it was painful but bearable just about, but today its literally unbearable
I've been considering going A&E incase theres retained tissue left of a clot that isnt passing etc but unsure if thats the right move. Spoke to the helpline from my abortion clinic and they said its probably just my uterus contracting back to normal and the pain is just similar to that of labour, but this doesn't feel right or like labour (i have a child, my labour with him was 12 hrs with strong/quick contractions when they shouldn't have been since I was only 2cm, turns out I had a deadly infection too, pink waters & a foul smell, got told it would've killed us both if I'd gone into labour on my due date but we also believe i went overdue by around 2-3 weeks and they miscalculated my due date) and despite the agony I was in then, I'd rather go through that 10x over, then this once more or even any longer...
I also had quite heavy bleeding the first 2 days after taking the 4 pills, to the point I nearly went a&e for that aswell but the bleeding slowed after around 5 hours.
I just need any advice / info rn on what to do / if this is normal, even if its not much info, anything will be appreciated rn, even if its just your own experiences with the pain after an abortion.
Thanks!
First abortion, not sure what to think. Possibly heading to A&E /ER
So, i took my first pill on the 21st, took the 4 other ones on the 22nd, around 11:40pm (around 24 hours after the 1st dose), started bleeding around 10:20pm, then after the 4 pills, started bleeding even heavier around 30 minutes or so in. Lost the entire pregnancy (or so i believe) but its been about 3 hours since i took them now, im still bleeding really heavily (soaked through am entire pad & one my maternity nappies from when i had my son last year) with quite large clots, fairly painful cramps, dizziness and feeling quite faint / warm. Everything i looked at, including the support guide i was given by my clinic doesnt really say what to do, in some seconds it says its normal, but in others it says go A&E asap. So I'm going just incase, especially given how uneasy I feel .. I'll update once im back
If anyone believes i made the wrong choice in going A&E, please tell me & why you think so! All this has just made me super nervous / scared, especially given the amount of blood and seeing the pregnancy..
UPDATE: I didnt end up going to the hospital, I decided to wait it out a little first as the bleeding seemed to ease up slightly. Cramps have gotten significantly better, bleedings slowed to about 50% of what it was, if not slightly less/more than 50%, my partners awake now too and been checking my BP, BPM, temp etc, to make sure everything's fine too.
Just going on from here and seeing if theres any changes, called the clinic too and spoke to them, they told me if the bleeding continues as heavy as It was earlier, more blood clots that were as large as they were or if my symptoms get worse than what they are, then to go straight to A&E rather than going to them for a checkup/calling the helpline. My 3-4 week checkup appointment has also been booked in now aswell 🫶🏻
Whats this on the roof of my mouth, appeared randomly sometime this morning?? (20th may)
• Age: 20 (nearly 21)
• Gender: Female
• Height: (roughly) 5'7
• Weight: (roughly) 12.10 stone (76.8kg / 169.4
pounds)
• Medication: Vortioxetine 50mg, Cyclizine hydrochloride for nausea 25mg, sleeping meds: Promethazine hydrochloride 25mg, iron meds: ferrous sulfate 50mg.
• Vape, rarely drink
I don't actually know when it appeared, I just know i noticed it in the morning, around 11am, as my mouth was quite sore/irritated, but probably important to note, I've been throwing up near enough back to back the past few days (5+ times daily), 9+2 weeks pregnant (as of midnight, currently 11:13pm) (no antenatal care currently, as still trying to decide whether or not I'll be keeping it, me and my partner suffered a infant loss a little over a year ago too. Still waiting for answers.)
