Curious How Many Of You Get Paid Extra For Video MPI?

So I am no stranger to video inspections. We got truvideo at my mazda dealership almost 7 years ago now, and from the first day I was 100% compliant. I moved to different dealership for chevrolet about 5 years ago. At the time they didn''t have it. But about a year ago, they added it. At mazda, they provided us a phone we could use if we didn't want to use our own and they paid us an extra .2 for every verified video on an RO. Now that I'm at chevrolet they provide nothing so you have to use your phone, they pay nothing, and in fact will prevent you from getting a bonus if you don't get 100% every week. I am in compliance every week. But it seems a bit crappy. Just curious if a lot of other shops are requiring and not compensating for videos?

I tell you what though, we are in the wrong business. I don't know what it is now but truevideo sold to our dealership years ago was like 80k a year for that dealership and back then it was a BASIC app. Its improved quite a bit since then. But dang I need to pay some developers to make me one and start hocking it.

Custom Air Conditioning

So wondering how many of you have jumped down the rabbit hole of custom air conditioning and lines. I've got a 400hp Miata. About 2.5 years ago I added a large intercooler to the front and in doing this has to delete my stock receiver/dryer and install an aftermarket one in the engine compartment. Unfortunately the desiccant ruptured and now I need to take it all back apart again. While it's apart like all things on my vehicle, it seems like a great time to upgrade.

I've been talking to some guys at vintage air and apparently there are companies that make adapters to convert from normal ac fittings to A/N lines. You can run ptfe lines and would be plenty good enough to hold the pressures. I've just not gone down this rabbit hole before. Wondering if someone in here has possibly ran braided A/N lines for their a/c lines.

Another option is vintage air's ez clip system, and there's others from other companies as well. But they are smaller than typical ac lines and a lot more flexible. I think it would give me enough end to run a vertical dryer instead of the horizontal setup that gave me problems the last time. But I'd really love to do the a/n lines as it would definitely clean up my bay some. I'm about to do a wire tuck soon as well so with those 2 things I think it would drastically improve the looks under the hood.

New Headunit Recommendations

So I've been rocking the Teyes CC3 2K for about 2.5 years now. It's been great, but my weekend car needs a new head unit. So I've been thinking of getting a new unit for my daily and moving my CC3 over to my weekend car. Just looking for some recommendations. I see that Teyes has the CC4 Pro now so I'd be amiss if I didn't consider it. But just seeing what general consensus is.

The few things I most definitely want in a head unit are:

  1. Built in DSP that has front, rear, and subwoofer channels

  2. Built in sim or esim that has some support for US bands (I know Teyes isn't the best for this but I've had it working pretty good the whole time I've used it)

  3. Being able to natively install Hulu, Disney would be nice too. But I can live without that. The other 2 are must haves though.

Really appreciate any recommendations!

So I've got the milwaukee 3/8 right angle impact and I absolutely hate it. It doesn't seem to have much power, the head is bulky, it takes up too much space in my drawer. And I almost never use it anymore. I think I am going to trade it, but I'm kind of torn on what to trade it for. Right now Ive got newest 3/8 impact, last model high speed 3/8 ratchet, original fuel extended reach 3/8 ratchet, 1/4 extended reach ratchet, newest 1/4 impact, the new new 1/2 ratchet, and the newest 1/2 impact. Ive got a bunch of other stuff but those are my like main things I use everyday. Oh and I've preordered the extended reach 3/8 new new ratchet.

I've been debating getting either stubby 3/8 or stubby 1/2 impact, or maybe the new new 1/4 reguar ratchet. I've also debated getting the new Sub compact's but I don't really think I would use it a lot just because of the reduced power. Any thoughts/recommendations?

I had also debated building that impact driver 1/2 frankenstein gun from few years ago. But I'm guessing these days the new 1/2 stubby is probably exceeding the ratings on that anyways.

Oh and I'm an A tech 26 years in auto industry and about 20 years in the shop. Right now I'm a recon team lead. Might help for use case scenarios.

Helping out my grandmother. Replaced her ice maker but she had knicked a wire on her auger harness trying to chip away ice. I got it working again for now splicing a piece of wire in but hoping I can replace it. A replacement auger is about 250 bucks. . But having problem corroborating a part number for the harness. Here's the tag on the fridge model number pictured and the replacement ice maker number was DA97-15217D. Thanks for any help!

Hey if anyone is gonna be in sxm sometime soon could pick me up some spices from the lady in Marigot outdoor market I'll pay you to ship em to me. I usually go every year and due to my grandmother's failing health it doesn't look like we will make it this year. Her name is Sandy the Spice lady and here is a bottle of vanilla. She has a lot of hand painted containers like this. Looking for 2-4 of the larger steak seasoning spices. I don't know what she puts in them but they are so unique and I just cannot seem to recreate it at home..
