I just ask because there's so many poignant episodes from DS9 and TNG that remind me of the incels.

You got Geordi generating a fake AI GF in the holosuite and create a relationship with her. You got Barclay basically copying folks on the ship and basically banging them in the holodeck. Yet it these episodes the folks around them are like my goodness, let us help you and they make them slightly less incelish.

You got that episode of DS9 where basically Vic Fontaine teaches Vic to just use practice and be confident and talk to women.

It's like they already knew about these incels and were already guiding them out of it. Is this how the previous generations were saved versus idiots like Rogan ?

There's the one word definitions floating around for each captain with Picard obviously getting the title of diplomat, and Janeway getting the scientist title but I don't know if there is a clean one word description for Sisko

The only one I can think of is father, but he's more than that. He's much more lenient than Picard or Janeway from everything from personal quirks, to bending the rules due to their society. Like he has no hesitations about blackmailing Quark at multiple times because he knows that's how the Ferengi work, and it's effective.

However, Janeway or Picard would probably not be so brusque about it. Janeway definitely bends the rules more than Picard, but Sisko clearly even breaks the law at one point. I would say he's also the most human and most emotional of the Captain's. He's more likely than the other two to spend time with his crew.

Being in Japan for awhile, we enjoy the animal cafes but obviously some of them have questionable ethics with spacing and size, such as for owls. I know in Tier 1 cities, they have very good zoos with great spaces to run around for the animals, as well as the Panda conservation program. Hong Kong has Ocean Park which has just wonderful and large environments for the animals. Chimelong is a safari park where you are in a mobile cage intead of the animals.

Meanwhile in Japan, Ueno park has tiny cages with animals clearly being uncomfortable, pacing back and forth in distress. The otter exhibit was dirty and a joke. Then then do have the animal cafes with varying levels of ethical quality. Granted Shanghai zoo does have some ethical concerns as well, and some of the people treat the animals so poorly (wish they would get banned for life)

I know it's not universal as China is very large, but does it seem like China just has better animal conservation than Japan? If so, why? Does Japan just not care about improving animal welfare?

Let's keep it civil folks. Just curious, we know the full hand over is in 2047, but HK is still pretty dang integrated into mainland China nowdays, not at all like before. Same for Macau.

Would you be OK with those cities retaining their SAR status moving forward? Why or not?

Obviously I'm extremely biased as someone born in HK, but I'm curious to everyone's thoughts on why or why not?

I would say Westerners would love Jackey Cheung, he has a wonderful voice, great albums, and just really is one of the best.

I think Chinese may like a Canadian guy I've come across called Devin Townsend. He has many different styles of music from operatic rock, heavy metal, folk music, ambient music. It's very fascinating stuff and his voice is also quite powerful.

I could be thinking of mainly French films, as I do like films by Guy Ritchie but I don't like pretentious films really. I don't like Breathless, I didn't like Le Samurai which may be the slowest film of all time. Perriot Le Fou? I'll take the Cowboy Bebop episode instead. Wages of Fear? It's weird ass hour beginning doesn't really do much to setup the film besides being oddly surreal. Sorcerer did it better.

Same as above, pretty common story, doing a day trip out to Lake Kawaguchi for some horse back riding, trails, and a night at a hot spring. I'm trying to avoid renting a car (especially since living in the USA, it's hard to drive on the left again like back in Hong Kong 😃) to save some cash.

I know back like 10 years ago, it was a bit hit or miss in the area with taxis and the apps were basically unavailable.

How about now days? GO/Uber have more service in the area or should I just bite the bullet and rent a car for a day?

I have matching Kitchen Aid Microwave, Stove and Dishwasher.

The microwave buttons wore off and the motor died that opens the door so it just grinds now if you hit the button.

The stove blower fan has now failed twice so it randomly errors out while warming up.

The dishwasher leaked on my brand new wood floors due a recall for bad gaskets, at least they reimbused me, but now 3 years later, the pump on the motor is dead for the spinning thing.

Now Im trying to get service on the phone and have been waiting 30 minutes.

This company makes trash, and has trash customer service. I wish I could go back and warn myself. Luckily the fridge was out of stock and we got a Samsung Bespoke instead (to match our washer and dryer which are Samsung) - Not a single issue from those.

Hey Everyone

Just was rewatching the episode Life Support where Wynn keeps Bariel alive to do the negotiations in her own benefit.

However what really stands out in this episode is the B plot. Jake gets a date with a girl on the station and his friend wants to help him set up a date for him as well. It goes horribly due to the misogynistic Ferengi views and attitudes.

But the moment that really hits home is after the fight and Jake comes back to his father frustrated with how the date went. Commander Sisko realizes Nog was doing what he would normally do in his culture, but more importantly, admits he was wrong.

A season or two ago he's highly skeptical of Ferengis and his son hanging out with one. Now he's confronted with a situation where he accepts that he was completely wrong and realized someone can be friends even with major cultural differences.

It's a short scene but Jake and Sisko just sitting, eating together, being father and son, and realizing they've both grown is just a great moment.

So for Build engine we got awesome things like WGRealms Demon Throne, Iron Fury, AMC Squad, new Blood expansions.

GZdoom we got Ashes 2063, Hedon Bloodrite, Supplice, Selaco.

Quake 1 and 2 and Hexen and Heretic all got new expansions

What do we have recently for anything running the HL1 engine? I miss played They Hunger, Poke646, and other random TC mods for the game year back, but what do we have modern? Anyone doing a major source port and TC?
