Places to bike tour?
I live in the valley, and it's all I know, I'm turning 25 this year and getting older. I want to start bike touring, what are cool places and routes to take?
Must be overnighter/ weekend

Title, I'm 25, and all I do is work. Where are cool places to go to meet people? I live in San Fernando.
Title I'm 24M 5ft 9in and 220 lbs, I want to be 200 and have a chubby but somewhat muscular build.
I'm looking into workouts, as I have my nutrition dialed in, 2k calories a day plus 150 min protein along with a lot of fiber, etc.
I want to build that muscular foundation first, so I look good, imo, and then transfer specifically to strength and eventually just maintain that vs going as high as possible.
Looking into workouts, there's PPL 3 days a week or full body.
What is the best way to build that foundation of muscle? How long does this typically take with locked in nutrition, sleep, supplements (like creatine)
Title, right now I'm 24, and work a warehouse job, it's nice, but sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time. I love volunteering on the weekends as it aligns with my morals. I'd love to do something similar full time.
Examples like social workers, or agriculture where I supply food to schools, markets, etc or animal wise. Something where I can help people, and something secure.
Are there jobs like that here? There's places like church, MEND, and Mission but they seem sparce with jobs.

What are jobs related to this here in LA and surrounding areas? Social workers sound nice, along with something more physical like agriculture and supplying food to grocery stores, schools, etc
Title, I live in LA county, and have been experimenting with going car free with my trek fx1 gen 4. It's about to be 6 months and so far I've been loving it.
I think I want to keep doing this, I want to upgrade to a do it all bike. Something for going to and from work, 10 mile round trip, along with hauling groceries or other cargo, and weekend expeditions like bike packing and touring.
What is the best do it all bike? I want something comfortable, since this is my main mode of transportation and I'm spending a lot of time in the saddle, with a larger gear range to handle almost anything, has the strength to handle load and more mounting points.
As far as bars go, drop bars look cool, but I find them uncomfortable, mtb bars are a bit more comfortable, but there's only one position, I might go the alt bar route with some jones H bars or velo orange crazy bars.
Thoughts as a whole? Dumb idea? Idealistic? Just get a car?
Title I live in LA county, and right now I'm at the point where I'm trying out a bike as my main mode of transportation along with public transportation. If it doesn't, I'll unfortunately have to get a car, which I really don't want those extra fees.
One big hurdle though, is taking the lane, some places I can ride the side walk or a bike lane, but what about those times that there isn't any of that and just the road?
For example, I'm a big star trek fan, and want to go to Vasquez rocks, to get there I have to take sierra highway, which is just a road, no shoulder, no sidewalk.
How do you get comfortable with that? I don't want to be an asshole
Title, I'm 24, and for years now I've been helping my family, constantly broke having to pay bills and dedicating my time to work is finally over, I'm free.
While I am definitely older....I feel very much behind compared to my peers, haven't dated since hs, virgin, no friends, no hobbies, nothing but just working.
I now have a bike and more funds to be able to do stuff. Where are cool places or groups to join? I live in the valley.
Title, currently I work a warehouse job, and have affordable rent at 650. Before that I got laid off and came very close to losing my place. I never want to be in that spot again, and that anxiety has picked up with this current administration.
As a back up plan, obviously save, try to get into a better position/ new job, but if say I lose my place, could you technically live off the bike?
Like I have all my stuff with some stuff split with family like documents, and all my essentials on my bike, head to work, leave and camp out on blm land? Is this possible?

I'm 24, work a warehouse job, and life is good. My job is thankfully stable, I have affordable rent at 650, and make sacrifices like being car free and rarely eating out. I would like to think I have it good.
I say this because once and a while I like to look at room listings, and even for a room, it's 900+ apartments and shit areas are upwards of 1500.
I would be literally paycheck to paycheck, if even that. Do y'all have multiple jobs? Live extremely far away?
If I had to pay that much I'd rather have my job and be homeless, and just camp out in the mountains with my bike
Title, I'm turning the big 25 this year and currently work at a warehouse, it's cool, management is nice and the work is fairly easy.
But sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time here, no disrespect of course, all labor is valuable, but I want to use my time helping others vs just on the weekends volunteering.
What does it take mentally and physically to be a CNA? I don't mind long hours and physical work, I do overtime often here, along with pulling 20ft copper and plastic pipe in the sun for plumbers.
Mentally ....can be an issue, as I have adhd and tend to be forgetful, and have issues hearing what people say, in the sense that I can hear exactly what was said, but didn't process it. I am currently not on medication and will jump on it soon.
How is it day to day? Is it stable? Pay I don't care much for, I'm a simple dude and as long as my needs are met plus a little extra for savings, I'm happy.
How is it when it comes to age? Warehouse jobs typically behind the scenes will absolutely not hire someone who's 30+ is ageism a issue for CNA's?
I live in LA county if that changes things.
Edit- Many are automatically saying no, which is cool, but for someone like me what is a good career path then?
Title, late last year I bought a trek fx 1 gen 4 to test out going car free, so far it's been good, but now here in LA County, specifically the valley for those who live here, it's getting hot.
Valley weather is consistently 80+ and 90+ in the summer with high humidity. For work I'm now starting to drop sweat, which I don't mind too much, as im going to work and gonna clean up anyways.
But what if I just want to go out? Hang out with friends, go out to eat? Etc. will I always be sweating and wheezing?
This is week 2 of commuting to work. If I don't get used to it, and I still plan on doing it, I might go the ebike route.
Title, I bought a trek fx 1 gen 4 late last year as a car replacement here in LA county. This was my first week I've completed commuting by bike and I love it. 10 miles round trip, about 30ish mins to and from work.
I think I want to do this long term. In June I will be upgrading, but I'm stuck in what I want.
First thought is a surly bridge club, steel, lots of mounting options, can fit wide tires a true do a little bit of everything bike I intend on doing, commuting, errands, and overnighters.
However, going to work in the morning in shorts and a T-shirt when it's hot out makes me want an ebike, especially if I'm going to use this to go out, in my typical uniform of jeans T-shirt and boots and longer distances than 5 miles.
My problem with Ebikes is I'm a big fan of the right to repair, whether that be boots, my hiking clogs, jackets, tech, even software running Linux. I feel like many Ebikes are very proprietary and what if someone breaks my screen? Software goes out of date? Size of battery doesn't exist? Charging port changes? Etc. I don't want to drop 4k+ on a tern, surly big easy or bullit only for me to be locked out in the future.
Another issue is theft, a nice ebike is for sure going to get stolen here in LA.
Thoughts? For those who own a regular bike, does it get easier living life outside of commuting?
I'm getting to a serious age, 25 and so far I have no friends partner, virgin, etc all I do is work and take care of family.
Where can I go that's not weird alone, no alcohol or drugs, and meet people? I have pretty good social skills, but outside of work, it just doesn't happen?
I know people will say, volunteer, where do people need the most help? I live in sylmar.
I know others for sure say meetup, but I've tried and they all tend to skewer older, which isn't an issue, but I don't think we'll have the same interest. How do I find such groups?
First time in the gym today, went well. Currently looking at an app and it wants me to split, push, pull and legs.
I don't know much about working out, but I was looking at it and per option there's specific workouts for each group..
Could I just do one exercise with heavy weight? Hypertrophy will take a long time, and I'd rather get strength since I hear you get faster results. Would help with day to day plus work thoughts?
Starting to exercise, using an app, and one of the workouts are skull crushers with 15 lbs dumbbells. Struggle but at some point my right arm gives out while my left arm can keep going. It's a weird feeling I try to push at there's a lot of resistance, no pain.
Do I keep doing it and push through even though I'm not doing the best form?
Title, Ive done my test rides, and I'm finally going to ride to work live tomorrow, 11ish miles round trip.
I do get somewhat sweaty, but to cover I'll use the gym and shower at work. Except recently, the shower no longer works, and we have a cheap boss where it's up in the air if they repair it. Until then, how do yall freshen up?
I bought some wash cloth thing that was soap impeded and you add a little water and then towel off. What else is on the market that you recommend?
Outside of work, life wise, how do you deal with sweat? I live in LA county, the valley specifically where in the summer it's regularly 90+ degrees.
