Baby beardie advice

So I have a friend that lives with me and has never had her own pet. I already have a bearded dragon that I’ve had since 2016 as well as a blue tongue skink and four cats. She’s only ever handled my bearded dragon who is an adult and very chill.

She impulsively got a baby bearded dragon from petco yesterday and the petco employee for some reason encouraged her to get a very small tank (I believe it’s 20gal). Anyways I’ve talked her into getting a 120 gal soon. My concern is for one, like I said, she’s only used to my very relaxed and older bearded dragon and I told her that the babies are NOT like that, they can randomly take off and are much faster and smaller so they can get away quickly. Another thing is I worry she will not take proper care of him once he’s not new and exciting anymore.

I’ve never had a baby beardie as young as him so please feel free to provide helpful tips and tricks. I’m taking her to the pet store later this week to get better lighting and she’s going to order timers and the Govee thermometer/hygrometers.

How to transition to indoor only

I have a 3 year old (vet estimate) cat that I rescued and he was just a stray he even has a clipped ear from being TNR. Anyways, I’ve had him about a year now and he’s insistent on being indoor/outdoor. I have three other indoor only cats and I know the dangers of having cats that go outside. I also live in a decent sized city so there’s the added danger of traffic. I really want him to be indoor only but he darts for the door and when we try to make him stay inside he will SCREAM nonstop until you let him out. Like guttural loud meows. He’s very sweet and tolerant, gets along great with the other cats and my dog and spends maybe 60% of the time inside but I want to know if anyone has advice on how to get him okay with indoor only.

New Baby!

I got an Australian BTS today. He’s two years old (currently hiding under rock cave) and I’m so excited to have him! This is my first time owning one, I’ve only had bearded dragons prior so I would love to hear any tips or tank accessories I should look into.

New owner advice

Hello! I am looking to get an Australian blue tongue. I had never even heard of these guys before but I went to a local pet shop the other day because my boyfriend (we do not live tg) is getting a Mexican black king snake this week and they had a blue tongue skink. The worker let me hold him and talked to me about their general care needs, temperament, and life expectancy.

I cannot stop thinking about him and am going to look at a tank tomorrow. I have had bearded dragons for years (my current guy is 11!) but otherwise haven’t had many other reptiles. I’ve been doing research on the care and need requirements but wanted to come ask other owners directly.

I understand the Australian version needs a hotter hot side and a bit more humidity. I understand they need 12 hrs of light and 12 hrs of dark. My main two questions that I’ve seen some conflicting info on is what exactly should their diet consist of and what is the best substrate for them? For reference i live in a fairly humid state but it can get pretty cold in the winter. I feed my bearded dragon dark leafy greens, some fruit here and there, and dubia roaches with repashy calicium powder.

Recommendations for turntable cabinets?

Hi! I just got a Victrola cabinet style player from the 60s. It’s absolutely beautiful but I know ppl don’t like Victrolas. Anyways just wondering if anyone has recommendations for something that still looks as beautiful as the Victrola and plays well or if I could replace the Victrola parts inside with something else yk? Tyia, I’m new to this.

Where to start for deep cleaning a large old home.

Hi all, I live in my stepdads house and have lived there for most of my life (I’m 19 for reference). Anyways, we have 2 dogs and 5 cats. My dog sheds what feels like a pound of hair a day like there will literally be hair balls in the corners of floors/stairs. Additionally my stepdads cat is indoor/outdoor but pees on the floor anytime he’s inside (we have 4 litter boxes that are scooped by me every other day).

We have a HUGE house (over 2500 sq ft) that was built in 1916 and my stepdad has owned it for 20 years and it has never been taken care of properly. We have original wood floors but they are certainly ruined and rotting in some areas. How should I tackle deep cleaning it?

I’m talking like scrubbing walls, baseboards, cracks and crevices and most importantly removing pet odors/urine from the old floors safely. What materials do I need to get? My stepdad probably won’t be helping me but my friend is going to.

Thanks in advance.
