Part 6: Mt Shasta Mystery Cavern series

Deep inside the caverns of Lake Shasta, YouTuber @Katheart-fairygodmother2926 takes you on an amazing tour of the Lake Shasta Caverns. People from all over the world come to join the fun and adventure of touring these mysterious caverns in Northern California. Both Lake Shasta and Mount Shasta are known for UFO and paranormal activity, ranging from glowing orbs and metallic crafts to the region's infamous lenticular clouds.

Do you believe the lenticular saucer-shaped clouds are just a unique atmospheric allusion created by the mountain's elevation, or do you think the aliens use them as cloaking devices for their spaceships?

Based on J.C. Brown's legend of an ancient sunken city deep inside Mount Shasta, do you think there is a UFO or alien connection between the mountain and Lake Shasta?

Summary:

Geographical Location:

Lake Shasta is the largest man-made reservoir in California, located in Shasta County, in Northern California. Lake Shasta Caverns sits at the southern base of Mount Shasta and is popular for its underground limestone cave system of intricate, naturally formed stalactites, stalagmites, and crystal-like cave formations.

The towering Mount Shasta is located in the Cascade Range in northern California and has an elevation of 14,179 feet. It sits 50 miles north of Lake Shasta and is located in the ancestral territory of the Shasta, Wintu, Ajumawi, and Modoc people. Although Mount Shasta has not had a volcanic eruption in over 4,000 years, it is the most active among the Cascade Volcanoes, which scientists are monitoring very carefully.

The discovery and exploration of Lake Shasta Caverns:

For centuries, the caverns were well known to the indigenous Wintu Native Americans as a natural part of their ancestral homeland.

In August 1874, a government fish commission expedition exploring the McCloud River station found a cave on the mountain below "Mt. Persephone." They explored it for over an hour and marked the site.

In 1877, the Lake Shasta cave system was rediscovered by a Wintu teenager named Charles Morton while he was tracking a wildcat up the mountain.

On November 3, 1878, James A. Richardson, a federal fisheries employee at the nearby Baird Station hatchery, officially documented the first recorded exploration of the Lake Shasta Caverns. After entering the cave system, Richardson famously used the soot from his miner's carbide lamp to write his name and the date on the limestone wall. This historic inscription is still clearly visible inside the cave's "Cathedral Room."

Urban legends of a UFO base and tunnels hidden deep inside Mount Shasta:

The myth that Mount Shasta is a UFO base was popularized by modern folklore, ufologists, and remote viewers. They believed that an ancient, advanced civilization of Lemurians used the hidden caverns beneath the California volcano as a base. The legend is reinforced by frequent sightings of lenticular clouds hovering over the peak, which they believed was a cloaking device to hide alien spaceships visiting the Lemurian city.

The Pat Price Papers only fueled speculation that aliens are using Mount Shasta as a UFO base. In 1973, Pat Price was recruited by the CIA as a remote viewer in their Stargate Project. During a psychic session, he claimed to have located underground extraterrestrial bases inside several mountains globally, stating that these sites operated as hubs for an advanced alien civilization. The Pat Price Papers and Stargate Project documents were declassified by the CIA between 1995 and 2017. According to the declassified documents, Price described alien UFO bases hidden beneath mountains across the globe. Price died on July 14, 1975, in a Las Vegas hotel room. While the official cause of death was recorded as a heart attack, conspiracy theorists believe he was poisoned.

The story of J.C. Brown and Mount Shasta is one of California’s most famous urban legends. In 1904, J.C. Brown, a geologist and gold prospector began telling a fantastic and captivating story. He claimed to have discovered a lost underground civilization within an 11-mile-long tunnel beneath the active volcano. According to Brown, this tunnel led straight to the heart of the mountain and contained gold, giant skeletons, and hieroglyphic writings.

Specifically, he stated the chambers held:

  1. A burial chamber with twenty-seven 10-foot-tall giant skeletons, two of which were wrapped in mysterious robes.

  2. Two large chambers filled with solid gold and copper plates and shields, all engraved with strange hieroglyphics.

  3. A vast collection of ancient relics, ornate statues, and spears.

J.C. Brown kept his discovery a secret for 30 years. According to accounts published by the Stockton Record newspaper, he resurfaced in Stockton, California, in 1934 and assembled an 80-person expedition to investigate the site. However, on the morning of June 19, 1934, just before the team was set to leave, Brown vanished without a trace, and his claims were never verified. Urban legend claims he was taken by a clandestine secret society.

Residents near Mount Shasta believe that a lost continent called Lemuria and its crystalline capital city, Telos, are hidden beneath the mountain. There is a widespread belief that surviving Lemurians went underground after their city sank into the Pacific Ocean. Followers who believe in this mystical folklore, claim these beings communicate through spiritual messages and programmed crystals.

Visiting Lake Shasta Caverns Today:

While J.C. Brown's mysterious underground city with an 11-mile-tunnel system was never found, the region's actual limestone caves, known as Lake Shasta Caverns, were opened to the public as a natural tourist attraction in 1964.

Today, visitors can reach these caverns by registering at the Visitor Center in Redding, CA, taking a catamaran ride across Shasta Lake, and enjoying a scenic bus ride up the mountain.

Matthew Lewinski Lived in Condo with Dead Ex for 7 Months

Forensic death investigator Joseph Scott Morgan and investigative journalist Dave Mack detail the sickening story of murder, mayhem, and mutilation. On the YouTube channel, Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan, they explain how the forensic evidence will reveal what happened and how Matthew Lewinski was able to live for 7 months in his condo with the dead and decaying body of his ex-girlfriend.

Summary:

Prior to the murder:

Matthew Lewinski's sister, Debra Federico, testified in court that she is the legal guardian of her father who owns a condo in Clinton Township, Michigan, and that her brother lived in the condo. While she kept tabs on the property, she experienced conflict with Matthew regarding their father's health and legal guardianship. Additionally, the condo had gone into foreclosure in 2019, prior to the start of COVID-19.

Federico said she tried to go inside the condo a couple of times, but her brother wouldn't let her in. She also wanted to gain access to the condo to retrieve a ceramic Christmas decoration that she believed was stored in the basement. Unfortunately, her brother refused to let her inside to look for the item

The timeline of murder and conviction:

April 2020 - November 2020:

Matthew Lewinski and Courtney "Jerri" Winters started dating in April 2020. Lewinski's sister, Debra Federico, said she knew her brother was dating a woman named Courtney who also goes by Jerri, but had never met her face to face. She said they once had a volatile interaction over the phone. Federico said Winters threatened to have her arrested if she didn't pay the condo bills. In November 2020, the couple broke up and Winters left the condo.

December 2020:

Courtney "Jerri" Winters returned to Matthew Lewinski's condo in December 2020. The couple began arguing in the living room while Winters sat in a Lazy-boy-chair. Lewinski went into the kitchen to make her tea; when he returned to the living room, Winters was sitting in the chair nude. She told him that she had gotten an abortion during their separation, causing the argument to escalate into a physical altercation. Matthew Lewinski told the detectives that he strangled her with one hand for 30 seconds until she stopped moving. He added that he continued holding his grip around her neck for five minutes.

December 2020 - July 2021:

Lewinski had initially hidden Winters' body in an upstairs bathtub, then later dragged it to the basement. During the time Lewinski was living with his ex-girlfriend's decomposing body, he was removing large portions of skin from her back to dispose of the remains and conceal a murder. He threw the pieces of skin into a local restaurant's dumpster. Over several months, neighbors complained of a foul, rot-like odor but assumed it was a dead wild animal.

July 26, 2021:

The residents called 911 to report a man walking outside the condo complex in his underwear, mumbling to himself in a state of confusion. The officers arrived and took Lewinski from the condo complex, and he was admitted to the Henry Ford Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

July 27, 2021:

The condo association called Lewinski's sister, Debra Federico, and told her the lights were left on inside the condo after her brother was taken to the hospital. Federico, her husband, her son, and a family friend went to the property to turn off the lights and check the locks. Since her brother was hospitalized, she decided to use this opportunity to check the basement for the ceramic Christmas decoration.

Federico did not go inside the condo. She waited outside while her husband, son, and a family friend went inside. She Facetimed with them so she could see inside. As they were looking around in the basement, to their horror, they saw what appeared to be legs and arms. They slowly backed out of the area and left the condo.

They told Federico they needed to call 911 because they found something. Det. Michael Chirco, an investigative officer with the Clinton Township Police Department, was one of the first deputies to arrive and secured the scene. The detectives observed the body in a state of decomposition, described as nude, face down, lying flat, with its arms apart and the head turned to one side.

Furthermore, the detectives noticed that massive sections of skin had been removed from the corpse's back—spanning from the base of the neck down to the buttocks. The mutilation was severe enough that bones and internal organs were left visible. In addition, they noticed blood splatters in the basement and saw multiple bottles of bleach, a knife, and rubber gloves.

July 28, 2021:

Clinton Township police detectives obtained a search warrant to process the crime scene and conduct a forensic sweep of the condo. Detectives Michael Chirco and Joseph Burns interviewed Matthew Lewinski at the hospital. Lewinski confessed to strangling Courtney "Jerri" Winters in December 2020.

July 30, 2021:

Matthew Lewinski confessed to the murder of Courtney "Jerri" Winters. He was taken into custody and was held without bond.

August 4, 2021:

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office formally charged Matthew Lewinski with first-degree premeditated murder, disinterment and mutilation of a body, and concealing the death of an individual.

2022 – 2025:

The trial was severely delayed for nearly five years due to the legalities of a hospital bed confession. A circuit court judge suppressed Lewinski's confession to detectives, a decision prosecutors fought through appeals that reached the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Supreme Court. The confession was eventually reinstated.

May 21, 2026:

It took a Macomb County jury only one week to convict Matthew Lewinski of all charges. He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

July 14, 2026:

Matthew Lewinski is scheduled to be sentenced on July 14, 2026 and his first-degree murder charge carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

30 yr Cold Case of "Baldwin County John Doe", Identified as James Carol Jackson Murdered in 1994

On January 8, 1994, a person walking in a wooded area off State Highway 225 in Baldwin County, Alabama, stumbled upon skeletal remains. Authorities arrived at the scene and noticed items scattered near the remains, which were determined to belong to an adult male. Investigators collected a trucker hat that read, "America By Birth, Texan by Grace Of God," a western shirt, an inhaler, a digital watch, a dark pair of prescription bifocal glasses, a mechanical pen and pencil set, and a welder's torch tip.

An autopsy conducted in a Mobile, Alabama morgue ruled his death a homicide resulting from a gunshot wound to the head. Additionally, experts estimated that the man was murdered in 1988 or 1989, and he was around 50 years old at the time of death. The authorities were unable to identify the man, and, with no other evidence or leads, the case went cold.

In March 2024, Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences working with local law enforcement submitted forensic evidence to OTHRAM in Woodlands, Texas. Othram's scientists successfully extracted DNA from the submitted evidence and built a comprehensive profile of the man, which powered a search by Othram's forensic genetic genealogy team. The results led investigators to potential relatives.

After 32 years, the man was identified as James Carol Jackson, a resident of Texas. Jackson was a Marine veteran and a structural welder from Groveton, Texas. Around 1987, he told family members he was traveling to Alabama for work. While there, he communicated frequently with his family. Suddenly, after one year, he stopped communicating with them.

James Carol Jackson was last seen driving a 1978 to 1981 red Chevrolet Camaro with a white interior, no spoiler, and a CB antenna, which has not been found.

Investigators believe Jackson may have lived off Baldwin County’s Highway 225. He may have frequented the bars along that route as well as in Bay Minette, such as the Tensaw Lodge.

Family members described Jackson as a non-violent, easy-going guy. They have found some peace that their loved one has been recovered, but they still have questions about the circumstances of his death. Unfortunately, the identity of the killer remains a mystery.

On April 22, 2026, authorities held a news conference in Bay Minette, Alabama, to announce the positive identification of James Carol Jackson and to reassure Jackson's family that this is still an active homicide case. The authorities are currently searching for his vehicle, which may hold the key to finding his killer.

“I’m hoping once we get this information out there, someone will say, ‘I remember this man and worked with him,’ … and compress a timeline on this man’s life up to the late 1980s when he was last here,” said longtime Baldwin County Sheriff’s investigator Clint Cadenhead, who leads the agency’s cold case unit.

Christopher Ebanks Allegedly Murdered and Dismembered his friend Billy Carrethers after he called him over to get help with rent payments

Arizona v Christopher Michael Ebanks

On May 7, 2026, Christopher Michael Ebanks, 32, allegedly murdered and dismembered his friend Billy Joe Carrethers, 44, over rent money, in an apartment complex in Phoenix, AZ. Forensic Death Investigator Joseph Scott Morgan and Producer/Writer Dave Mack discuss this horrifying & developing case out of Phoenix on their YouTube channel, Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan.

Case Details

The Conflict:

Billy Carrethers and his girlfriend, Selena Blanco, got into an argument over making rent payments, so he called his friend Christopher Ebanks, who had only been out of prison for one month, about help in getting rent payments.

After Ebanks arrived at the apartment, Carrethers got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend Selena. Ebanks intervened and attacked Carrethers about putting his hands on a woman, saying why don't you fight a real man.

The Murder:

Ebanks allegedly attacked and killed Carrethers with a hatchet. Ebanks placed Carrethers' body in a bathtub and chopped the head and hands off. The victim's body was wrapped in carpeting and an air mattress, and then bound with an extension cord. He propped up the body in a closet and placed the head and hands into a suitcase.

Forced Assistance:

Ebanks allegedly forced Carrethers' girlfriend, Selena, to clean up the crime scene and help him hide her boyfriend's remains. Investigators had noted in their reports that upon entering Carrethers' apartment, there was a very strong odor of bleach.

Destruction of Evidence:

Ebanks retrieved the suitcase containing the head and hands and forced Selena into his car by knife/gunpoint. He drove back to his apartment in Glendale, Arizona, to hide the evidence. He assumed without the head and hands, the body cannot be identified. While at his apartment, Ebanks forced Selena to get into the shower at knife/gunpoint.

Witness Report:

Selena managed to get away from Ebanks. She called her father and told him that Ebanks killed her boyfriend and he forced her to clean up the crime scene and hide the evidence. Selena's father reported the crime to the Phoenix Police Department.

The Discovery:

On May 7, 2026, the same night of the murder, the authorities found Carrethers' torso in the closet. The next day, on May 8, 2026, the authorities executed a search warrant at Ebank's Glendale apartment and opened the suitcase that contained Carrethers' head and hands.

Criminal History:

Ebanks had been released from prison one month prior before he allegedly killed Carrethers. He has a criminal history which includes armed robbery and aggravated assault and was on probation at the time of the offense.

Current Status:

Ebanks was booked into the Maricopa County Jail. He is charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and probation violation. A judge set a $1 million cash-only bond.

Selena Blanco is considered a witness and has not been charged with the murder of her deceased boyfriend. This is an on-going and developing case.

China Defense Missiles takes out UFO in the Night Sky

The podcaster @TheCuriousBunny YouTube channel has a video showing the exact moment Chinese air defense missiles intercepted and blasted a bright flying object (UFO) out of the night sky. This event occurred in September 2025 over the coastal city of Weifang in Shandong province. Many locals in the area captured video of the event on their security cameras and cellphones, and reported seeing bright flashes and hearing a deafening boom. The Chinese government offered no explanation and has remained silent on this incident.

In the wake of the recent UFO disclosures, many of these "unexplained" UFO sightings are being re-evaluated again.

Do you think that the UFO shot down by China in 2025 was a natural, fast moving meteorite, an alien craft, a missile intercept test, or something else?

Chewing Gum Solved the Cold Case Murders of Judy Weaver & Susan Vesey

In the 1980s, undercover investigators used the "Chewing Gum Trick" to solve two cold cases that happened in Everett, Washington, which is explained in the video starting at the 39:00 mark.

Brief Summary:

On the YouTube channel - Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan - forensic death investigator Joseph Scott Morgan and producer-writer Dave Mack take an in-depth look into these two cold cases: the murders of Susan Vesey and Judy Weaver. They explain how those homicides were eventually tied to a woman who was sexually assaulted in 1979 and two sisters who were sexually assaulted in 1984. The suspect in those assaults was captured, and his DNA was entered into CODIS. Fortunately, all three of those women survived.

On July 12, 1980, Susan Vesey, a 21-year-old married mother of two children under the age of two, was found hog-tied, beaten, sexually assaulted, and strangled in her Everett, Washington home. From the beginning, her husband and brother-in-law were considered suspects. However, there was no evidence to tie either man to the crime, and the case went cold.

About four years later, on June 2, 1984, a passerby called 911 from a payphone to report a raging fire in a small apartment building. Firefighters discovered the remains of Judy Weaver, 42, who had been hog-tied, beaten, and strangled to death. Investigators recovered a piece of carpeting and a cigarette butt left by the suspect, but without further leads, this case also went cold.

A major breakthrough came years later when undercover investigators devised an ingenious plan to secure DNA from a person of interest. They planned to compare it with the DNA found on the cigarette butt from Judy Weaver's apartment. In November of 2023, detectives sent the DNA sample out for testing and it came back as a match to a known sex offender, Mitchell Gaff. After 40 years, Gaff was arrested in May of 2024 for the murder of Judy Weaver.

At this point, the investigators were new to the police precinct and did not know about the 1980 Susan Vesey murder. The connection was finally made when Vesey's husband called the police station. He told them his brother had passed away and confessed his lingering suspicion that his brother may have sexually assaulted and killed his wife Susan Vesey. In April of 2025, the police ran the evidence collected from the 1980 crime scene through CODIS, they got a hit. The killer was identified as Mitchell Gaff, the same man who murdered Judy Weaver and set her apartment on fire. Mitchell Gaff was 22 years old when he murdered Susan Vesey. He was charged with Vesey's murder on March 13, 2026.

On April 16, 2026, Mitchell Gaff, 68, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murders of both women in a Snohomish County courtroom. On May 13, 2026, he was sentenced to a minimum of 50 years to life in prison.

An unexpected twist in this story is that one of the investigators who worked the cold cases had narrowly escaped a rape attempt by the double murderer years prior, when she was 29 years old.

The tragedy and irony of the situation is that Susan Vesey's widowed husband and his brother had both harbored long-standing doubts, each suspecting the other might be the killer. Ultimately, the breakthrough allowed the victims' families to finally receive some measure of closure and peace.

COLD CASE HEATS UP! 23-years After Michigan Grandmother Murdered, Killer CAUGHT!

On the YouTube channel Body Bags with Joseph Scott Morgan, forensic death investigator Joseph Scott Morgan and producer/writer Dave Mack take a deep dive into the horrific February 22, 2003 murder of 57-year-old Jeanette Wilton. Her body was discovered in the Flint River near her Saginaw, Michigan home. She had been strangled, stabbed 15 times, and sustained blunt force trauma to her head. Although law enforcement investigated, they found no murder weapon, no suspects, and the case went cold.

The case was reopened in 2021, about 20 years after Jeanette Wilton's body was found. While the victim was never forgotten, solving the case required advancements in genetic genealogy.

Through a joint effort with the Michigan State Police Third District Cold Case Team and the Western Michigan University’s Cold Case Program, the evidence was reanalyzed and new leads were developed.

In 2023, the new DNA testing identified 47-year-old Jason Robert Cabello, who was 26 at the time, as the killer. He had previously been in a relationship with a relative of Jeanette Wilton’s but had no personal connection to Jeanette.

In December 2024, Jason Robert Cabello, 48, was arrested and charged with murder. On April 20, 2026, Cabello pleaded no contest to one count of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and will be sentenced in 10th Circuit Court on June 1, 2026.

Attorney General Dana Nessel said in a release statement: "I am grateful for the excellent work of the Michigan State Police, Western Michigan University, and prosecutors in my office who all worked diligently to secure this conviction. Their dedication did not just solve a cold case. It finally brought justice to Jeanette, her family and friends while proving that no passage of time can stand in the way of accountability."

Gabby Petito’s Father: What Nancy's Family Needs to Know

True Crime podcaster Matt Johnson, host of Justice with Matt Johnson YouTube channel, invited Joe Petito the father of Gabby Petito on the show to discuss the Nancy Guthrie case, Sheriff Nanos' handling of the investigation, and any advice he might have to offer the family.

Joe Petito said he heard on the news that Sheriff Nanos has a big ego. He added that if there were a delay in evidence getting to the FBI due to his ego, then the sheriff shouldn't be wearing that badge, because victims should come first. Furthermore, he noted that the FBI has a vast amount of resources that local authorities just don't have.

Matt said he learned that it's been a while since the sheriff has updated the Guthrie family. In contrast, Joe Petito said their family received consistent updates in a group chat so that a single person would not have the stress or burden of calling each family member to update them.

Matt asked if the Nancy Guthrie case was triggering for him. He responded, 'Yes, but it also has to be triggering for other people who have missing loved ones who don't get the same resources or press.

Joe Petito said the public criticizing Savannah Guthrie needs to stop putting a guilt trip on Savannah because she's been victimized as well. she's a victim, too.

Joe Petito said he and his family received a tremendous amount of love, support, and concern from people everywhere. He said it really humbled him. He added that before speaking at press conferences, he would meet with law enforcement who told him to keep it "Vanilla" and only speak about Gabby Petito and don't mention other missing people.

Joe Petito said he has always been a straightforward and outspoken person. Because of this, he felt he needed to share how he really felt during press conferences.

So he said screw it and went off script, and expressed to the public that other people deserve to be found just like his daughter. Today, people can see I stood by my word. He added that their family created the Gabby Petito Foundation to help find other missing loved ones.

He added that the one thing families tell him is that they need more resources, especially in rural areas. This can make the difference between finding someone or not. With that in mind, Joe Petito said that their foundation is advocating and pushing for all missing persons cases to be moved over to the FBI after two weeks.

The host Matt Johnson talked about the tremendous pain and heartbreak the Guthrie family is experiencing, but they are hopeful that a break in the case will come soon. Matt said the family deserves closure. Responding in a very personable and thoughtful tone, Joe Petito said there is no closure -- you will never get closure, but you can learn how to properly grieve.

Joe Petito and his family created the Gabby Petito Foundation to turn their tragedy into a purposeful mission that honors Gabby Petito's legacy. Through education, awareness, and prevention, the foundation provides aid and supports victims of domestic violence and partners with organizations dedicated to locating missing persons.

The Petito family and their partners are planning upcoming events to speak at schools and colleges to educate students about domestic violence, bullying, and harassment.

WHAT’S THE DEFENSE? Vinnie Politan talks Murdaugh Murders retrial

True Crime podcaster Matt Johnson, the host of Justice with Matt Johnson, joined Vinnie Politan to discuss Alex Murdaugh's upcoming new trial which was granted because court clerk Becky Hill was talking to the jury and told them not to believe Alex Murdaugh which is considered jury tampering.

The defense lawyers said Murdaugh was very emotional and thankful when he read the South Carolina Supreme Court order that his conviction had been overturned. Murdaugh said he takes full accountability for the financial crimes but cannot live with the fact of being wrongly convicted of the double murders of his wife and son.

Defense attorneys, Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin said that over the weekend, they learned that the Attorney General Alan Wilson, who is running for governor, is considering the death penalty. They said they had not received any direct communication from the prosecutor's office that the death penalty was on the table. Murdaugh's lawyers said it is clear that the prosecution cannot seek the death penalty if it's due to vindictive prosecution. And, what does he know now that he didn't know 5 yrs ago?

Vinnie Politan speculates that the difference is Murdaugh lied about his alibi which took the prosecutor a while to get Paul's recordings down by the kennel. Basically, this goes back to Murdaugh saying he was napping at the house on the night of the murders but data extracted from his son Paul's phone included a video shot of the kennel which also captured Murdaugh's voice just minutes before the killings.

Kouri Richins Speaks Out Before Being Sentenced to Life without Parole

On May 13, 2026, the judge sentenced Kouri Richins to life in prison without parole for killing her husband.

On March 16, 2026, Kouri was found guilty of poisoning her husband with fentanyl-laced cocktail on March 4, 2022.

The irony is that Kouri was sentenced on the day of Eric Richins' birthday. He would have been 44.

Before sentencing, Kouri read off a long, rattling letter of allocution about how she loves her 3 young sons and will write to them every day even if her letters are blocked. She added that she wished their father was here to teach & guide them throughout their lives. Not once did she take accountability for killing her husband.

In an emotional letter, Kouri's 3 sons said they never want to see their mother again and expressed absolute fear that she will try and harm them if released from prison, even when they grow up and are raising children of their own. They went on to say how much they love and miss their father, and how loved and protected they felt by him. They will always cherish the memories of their father who took them on camping and fishing trips, and to sporting events.

The judge was very deliberate and thoughtful in his final decision. He took into consideration not only the gravity of the crime Kouri committed but also the emotional grief and pain she has caused her 3 sons as well as the rest of Eric Richins' entire family.

As the sentence was delivered, Kouri, for the most part, kept her head down. Her lawyers will appeal her sentence, a right that every defendant has.
