Idk what triggers this, all I did was throw a grenade.
Played the first game and loved it, but this one feels like a slog. I like that it has an actual story with voice actors and "cutscenes" but there's soooo much grinding and exploring to do and I feel like I've already had enough of the creatures and scenery.
Exploring feels boring, specially with the 10+ protein bars and infinite water suit. I look around for HOURS, find titanium mostly, then I get one line of dialogue which is either a joke or "hmm i think there's something here" then half an hour later I actually find the place they were talking about but all it has is another meaningless dialogue or a blueprint made entirely of rare items. And then more exploring and finding resources.
The mineral detector is kinda useless due to its short range, much easier to just use a scanner room or just to eyeball it. Most of the creatures feel like reskins of previous ones, most plants are just for show, and there are some resources that took forever to find, and some important ones which I still haven't found despite being 27 hours into the game. Idk man this one just isn't hitting like the first. Maybe it's my fault and my lack of attention span idk.
Really wish it unlocked a "secret level" in Mercenaries where you play as Rookie Leon and it's the re2 weapons and maybe even a map related to it.
*This is on normal difficulty, no new game plus. First time I do this without taking damage.
Is this how it happened in-canon or did Leon do knife-only?
The fight choreography, the editing, the sound design, it's all so good. Makes me wish the game and the franchise as a whole had more combat cutscenes where we just get to watch Leon in his prime being an absolute badass, some "John Wick but with zombies" type shit. Him using the ganado as a shield is the cherry on top.
To summarize my thoughts, I don't think it is BETTER than B.B, I think it's on the same level, maybe better in a few topics, cinematography being a huge one. I love how this show has its own identity, sometimes I'd forget this is the same universe where Walter White exist, it also has a lot more comedy and chaos which I like, but the emotional beats still hit hard, same for the action and tense scenes.
The constant "cameos" and the constant "learning how this character came to be" moments where cool, but I do think it's over-done sometimes, and sometimes they reference very minor characters instead of bigger ones. Like, Spooge and Wendy get to show up but not Badger or Skinny Pete?
I REALLY liked all the original characters BCS introduced tho, specially Chuck, Nacho and Lalo, just a delight every time they were on screen, amazing performances. Aaron Paul's and Bryan Cranston's cameos felt a bit jarring, with Aaron barely de-aged and still talking like his season 1 self. Feels like they went "just put him in a beanie".
The Sandpiper/Chuck arc of the first few seasons was peak, and the Salamanca/Nacho storyline just elevated it to another level. Lalo was terrifying without feeling like a copy-and-paste of the twins or Gus (who btw was pretty fucking badass as usual).
Mike's backstory was touching, and watching Jimmy gradually becoming Saul Goodman was peak.
Jimmy and Kim were an amazing duo, so much chemistry, (pun intended I guess) their ending was kinda predictable from the start but the acting of the two really helped nail the feelings.
I really liked the subversion of expectations with Howard Hamlin. Thought he would be your generic "Asshole boss who gets what he deserves in the end" but nope. I felt bad for him. And yes, knowing where he ended up will forever change how I look at the super lab scenes in B.B. Same for Lalo.
Felt so bad for Nacho duuuude, Mando's acting really sold the anxiety and stress, while also being intimidating, and bro incorporated Batman in his last dialogue. He felt like a parallel to Jesse Pinkman, not a bad person at heart, but someone who met the wrong people and made bad choices.
Overall, great show, great ride, lotta laughs, lotta gripping moments, even tho I got spoiled about some things, they still got me. And now that's it then, Breaking Bad, El Camino and Better Call Saul, all watched. These are the best pieces of media I've ever laid my eyes upon, nothing short of masterpieces, they better show them as examples of good writing for future script writers.
HUGE thanks do Neon Slice, Darkness, and CarcinogenSDA and this community for the guides. This was so intense, nerve racking, but I DID IT!!!
Now there's only the ghost survivors left, not sure I'm gonna do frugalist and minimalist.
Like with every other S+, my heart was racing, body sweating, but I was locked in. Used Neon Slice's tutorial but just barely, just wanted to remember the strats since it had been a while since I touched the game. But here it is. In Neon's video he got the SMG or whatever it's called, and STILL managed to get it done in 1:46, which is insane to me because I ignored that gun and my time at the end was longer. Whatever, it's done. And I'm glad I got this out of the way because I hate Claire's pistols.
G's final form was like one centimeter from killing me in the end.
Attempting to get S+ on Claire's B campaign, got to first G at 21:30, now the sewers at 55:42, do I still got time? Is it gonna be tough? Or do I have more than enough?
(Played the GOG version)
In comparison to the first game, it's a huge improvement in my opinion, it's a much more "polished" game, everything is so beautiful, detailed, models aren't breaking with each step. The backtracking is much less boring than the 1st one due to the game creating little shortcuts for you (example: emergency latter at the second floor). The dialogue and acting is better, but there are still some questionable lines. "ADA WOULDN'T DO THIS, I KNOW HER!" even tho bro met her like an hour today, and all he knows is that she has a brother named John who worked in a Umbrella office. Or Claire not reacting at all to Chief Irons saying he will kill everyone.
A comparison I've seen is that, RE2 is like Terminator 2 or Aliens, it's a sequel that builds upon what worked in the first one, but also adds a lot more action. It's a bombastic game, explosions, caos, but it doesn't go full action like later games, it keeps a nice balance.
I loved the creature designs, the art-style can shine more with the improved graphics, my favorites were the different forms of Birkin and him changing between them. The scenarios also have beautiful lighting, specially the ones with fire.
Soundtrack is a bit more varied and there isn't awkward silent moments like in the first one.
And of course the biggest stand out feature is the interconnected campaigns, now I get why some people say RE2 Remake is a bad remake. I want the cut content too now.
Anyway I had lots of fun, did all the scenarios, including the canon order, Claire A, Leon B. Game got a little too easy sometimes, specially after I got the Magnum as Leon, then upgraded it. I was blasting my way through enemies and bosses alike. However, game still had some tense moments, like in the Tyrant fights and Birkin's final forms. On Claire B I was so anxious during the Tyrant fight since it had been a while since my last save. Also some of the jumpscares where something bursts out a window or wall got me good. I was surprised at how Sherry was exposed to danger despite being a literal child.
And yes my opinion on the remake has changed now, it is a great game, but sucks as a remake. Anyway, my score for it is a 9/10. Now it's time to finish the trilogy and meet Nemesis.
That was pretty fun, it is a DIFFERENT experience from the remake, I like them both but I do see why people were upset about the cut content, and I still haven't done any of Claire's scenarios so I'm sure there's plenty more stuff that didn't made it into the remake too.
Now when comparing it to RE1, I think it's much better. The art, scenarios, combat, puzzles, backtracking, everything is an improvement, game feels more polished, dialogue doesn't feel brain dead but still has WTF moments like Leon claiming to know Ada even tho they met like an hour ago.
Bursted out laughing when Annette got hit with a pipe from the ceiling.
I totally get why they added Mister X in the remake, once you kill all the zombies you are just free to explore the police station, there's no sense of danger let alone horror. Was surprised with how little Birking showed up but to be fair I still got more scenarios to play. Soundtrack sounded better as well and the pre-rendered cutscenes were a good addition.
Next I'll play Claire B and I'm lowkey scared because I grabbed EVERY ammo I found, I only remembered the cross-campaign thing when I was given the choice to grab the machine gun or the inventory expansion, I decided to leave the machine gun to Claire. I wish the game reminded me more times, have Leon say "I should leave this for Claire" or something. Welp, time to face the consequences of my actions I guess. Anyway, great game and yeah, RE2 is far from a perfect remake, no idea why they decided to cut so much stuff.
To usando a versão do GOG galaxy.
