Took 15 years to overcome Hindi brainwash

Living in MH, i remember as a kid reading marathi newspapers that not just vilified Tamilians but tagged them as anti nationalist for pushing back on Hindi.

Even in my own opinion at that time I couldn't grasp how Tamilians could prefer a foreign language like English over Hindi an indian language ; I considered it very anti india.

Today seeing the condition of Marathi in my own state - and how anyone opposing Hindi is freely tagged as pakistani, anti nationalist, all the Hindi brainwash is undone and I can only feel apologetic for what Tamilians had to go through for years for simply choosing to preserve their own language.

Marathis hold a reputation for being most civilized compared to people from other states-even abroad there is barely any news of misbehavior by Marathis as much as other Indians. Pune sub trying to create a narrative that Marathis are the most uncivilized and only goons can't change ground reality

Indians are well aware how civilized and safe Marathis are compared to other states people. Propaganda by Pune sub can't change that.

Should I cut this friend off?

I have a friend since college time. We bonded over having crushes.

Her crush started dating another girl. She was heartbroken and I kept validating her, supporting her.

Our dynamic turned one sided due to this. Where I had to always place her up on a pedestal to make her feel good about herself.

Later, when college ended she broke all contact with me. Stopped replying to my texts putting them on seen.

Then entrance exams came around and she softened again. We started studying together and everything went back to normal.

After she joined a college she ghosted me again. I thought shes busy with her college life. But after 5 months she started recontacting to bich about her college friends.

Eventually she faced several heartbreaks in love, seven to be precise. She'd put in a lot of efforts in forming a connection but the guys friend zoned her.

You can imagine how much I had to be there for her - to console her through all of the heartbreaks. And listen to her endless rants about guys. To make her believe she deserves love too. And the guys are shi..u for not seeing her worth.

I started lying about getting heartbroken by guys - to make her feel like it's not something that just happens with her. She used to trash every guy i date - even before anything conspired between us - shed declare he is a player and i must stay away from him.

Then one day I started talking with this guy through online dating app. After months of conversations - i realised i liked him. We started se..ting with each other. And around the same time, another ex crush from our college days - the one my friend had predicted to be a player and a.s reconnected and asked me out on a date.

I also told my friend about se..ting with the new guy, and shared my inhibitions about the relationship as it's still an online long distance connection and also how we share an age gap as im older than him.

Then i told her about my ex crush recontacting me. How it surprised me he's still interested in me.

She went silent for 5 days after i told her all of that - she turned her internet off mid conversation and few of my messages weren't even delivered. This has never happened in years of talking with her. After a long silence - she replied " Why don't you generate an AI image of you two (me and new online guy) to see how you'd look besides him? "

This came out of nowhere as I was telling her about my ex crush. But she didn't reply to any of the messages related to him and sent above single reply. It felt like a subtle dig at the age gap ngl.

Also when I didn't reply her back - she called me up that day - which is very rare since I'm the one who's always calling her.

Am I overthinking it? Should I cut her off?

Why have I never come across genuine female friends?

Every female friend I've had had a mean jealousy streak going on underneath the friendship facade.

They'd do a good job at hiding their jealousy. It was only noticeable when you'd see how they reacted to your success in a passive aggressive way or by throwing a subtle shade at you.

And the worst part is it didn't matter how long you've been friends or how nice you've been to them, somehow insecurity and competition always creeped in or dare i say it has always been there.

I provided so much to the point the friendship was asymmetric where I'd give more than them. But all i got was unhappiness for my success due to whatever insecurity they have and mean comments hiding as support.

Oh you're dating a younger guy with an age gap? How nice. Have you imagined how you'd look besides him ? Just curious

Oh you're going to another state for higher studies? Hope you are safe and don't get eaped.

Have you felt the same energy from female friendships? It's so exhausting cuz I'm a straight forward person. If i don't like someone I'll just cut them off. But pretending to be friends for years while you aren't even happy for the other person during their times of success is just incredelous.
