James River Trash Clean-up From The River

On Sunday, Riverside Outfitters supported Keep Virginia Cozy's James River trash clean-up by providing 5 rafts and guides. Volunteers collected debris and trash while running the rapids and staying clear of the boulders. Thanks to our guides every volunteer arrived safely.

“If there’s a child that’s not speaking, they can say things [in American Sign Language] like, you want to play with me with a ball. They can use their knowledge that they have learned here to be even more inclusive,” she said.

Robles founded the school in 2018 to mirror her experience growing up in El Salvador, one that was focused on outdoor play and Spanish immersion while celebrating diversity.

With high demand, Robles is moving to a bigger building on Parham Road, allowing enrollment to triple from about a dozen students to more than 40.

She also plans to hire six new teachers.

On Tuesday 5/5 we participated in Idealist Global Community Breakfast in towns, neighborhoods and villages around the world. Over 3,700 people have signed up for this event!

Our Richmond Virginia event, was organized by Southside ReLeaf and as part of this effort, we’re uplifting Richmond Shines, a citywide volunteer initiative led by the Richmond ToolBank that supports neighborhood cleanups and beautification projects throughout the city.

Our volunteers helped clean up the street entrance to a new park space behind Ernest Road. In about 1.5 hours, our litter cleanup helped create a cleaner, healthier environment for residents and visitors alike.

Idealist's next event is 6/6 (you see the pattern). Everyone is welcome to join. One participant cook a full dinner to a family that was reunited after an illegal ICE detention. Another organized a choir to sing at a mental care facility for individuals suffering from Alzheimer's.
