so I’ve been making offerings of mead and whiskey to Odin for several months now. I make my own mead which I feel is a more personal offering because the effort I put into making it. problem is I’m almost out of my home made mead and my next batch won’t be ready for another 3 months.
in the meantime I recently came into a rather large amount of scotch my late father in law left behind (he was a prepper and decided whiskey was apparently very important for TEOTWAWKI.
getting this scotch involved absolutely no effort on my part and I don’t really drink scotch that often so I feel like I’m not sacrificing anything by giving it to Odin. On the other hand whiskey is often said to be one of his preferred offerings.
so my question is, do you feel that offerings requiring sacrifices of time/money/effort etc are more meaningful than stuff you just have?
so I made a wand last year from a branch that fell of the River birch in my front yard. Unfortunately the birch is growing into my house and the power lines and needs to come down before it causes anymore damage.
just on an intuitive level I dont feel right using a wand from a tree I’m about to cut down so I want to dispose of the wand respectfully but I’m not 100% sure of the best way to do it. any tips? The only thing that comes to mind is thanking the wand and burning it in a fire but I’m open to ideas
first one is mostly culinary herbs this one is more medical/magical. still have mugwort, wormwood, motherwood, and comfrey to plant
My coworker and his wife are expecting and he was telling me she’s been very frustrated because the baby is a few days over due and she’s pretty much done mentally with being pregnant. I see this as a hilarious opportunity to mess with him and drew up an official “woman eviction notice” and got a judge who's a friend of mine to sign it. I then performed a blessing on it when I gave it to him
he brought the notice home to his wife on lunch and she laughed so hard her water broke and she went into labor.
long story short she gave birth to a healthy and happy baby boy.
was it magick? who knows but it was a fun and funny unintended consequence

anyone have any funny unintended spell effects?
I accidentally went to the store, selected Salvia Divinorum, put it in a bowl, and smoked it. by accident. since salvia is a type of sage is it a closed practice? since I’m a straight white male I’ve clearly done something wrong. how many times should I flagellate myself to pay for my sins.
but like…not in a sex way
I recently started HEMA and I’m trying to
build up my kit. I was considering buying a regular fencing jacket as a base layer and then wearing leather armor over the top as padding (I’m thinking shoulders cauldrons, a chest protector, and leather bracers) would this be allowed in competition?
In this day and age we have masks, padding, non sharp swords, and can spar at pretty much full speed. But that makes me wonder, how did they train back in the day? I know this is obviously a huge time period I’m asking about (basically from the invention of the sword to the end of the sword as a viable military tool) but I’m genuinely curious. i know feders and wooden wasters were a thing but did they spar or just drill? Did people in armor just bash each other? Did they give zero f**ks about getting hurt? Any sources on this?
I’m not really asking about how accurate they were or were not. I’m more interested in how he did (or claimed he did) make his predictions. were they through scrying? demon summoning? astrology? divine revelation?
Ok I’ve seen like 3 posts this week about pocket shrines in altoids cans so I gotta ask is this like…is this a new thing that the kids are doing these days or is this an old practice? like don’t get me wrong I think it’s a neat idea I’m just confused
So I had my second MMA fight a few weeks ago and lost by armbar. ever since the fight I’ve been feeling very apathetic towards jiujitsu. at first I thought it was just a bit of burnout from training camp but I took a week off post fight and I took last week off as well. tonight I went back and just felt no motivation to roll. I didn’t care about getting caught in subs and just in general felt very meh about the whole thing. anyone else ever deal with this? how’d you get the passion back
I want to summon a demon for this years Halloween party you know just for vibes. which demon should I summon?
So one of my favorite subjects is studying the intersection of magic and science. Many esoteric arts are classed as “protosciences”. herbology became pharmacology, alchemy became chemistry, and astrology turned into astronomy.
in fact astrology and astronomy were originally the same thing. the study of the heavens used to predict the best time for planting, religious festivals, and predicting the time of year.
So I’ve decided to take on this project “astronomy before the telescope” choke full of fun science experiments that excite my inner 12 year old nerd. projects like building a quadrant, Jacobs staff, and sundial, making an analema, tracking the height of navigation stars.
in history druids and other magic users were the very first scientists so I think it’s a cool way to study the lore of yonder days

I was walking through the Forrest one day a few months ago and started to vibe with this tree right at the cross roads. so I spent some time talking to it and told it I needed some wood oak wood for a wand and politely asked if it could drop a branch for me.
well the next day I was out walking the same trail and another oak had blown down right across the path in front of me.
Did I accidentally put out a hit on another tree? maybe. or maybe my familiar just doesn’t f*ck around.
8 months later I’m still using wood off that tree for rune staves
