Yeah…wtf is wrong with Westchester? I grew up here and moved to New England (thank God) and always knew there was a lot of racism in this county but recently, wtf? I used to always get defensive of ppl calling Westchester upstate NY as I didn’t want to be associated with like red necks in fricken Montgomery or whatever but like…wtf happened? The News 12 Westchester FB page is FLOODED with MAGA racist idiots. Part of this county has a Zionist racist person Mike Lawler representing it. Westchester ain’t NY…it’s basically West Virginia. My goodness…I’m so ashamed and embarrassed to be from this county, what a disgrace it’s become.

I work for a small 150 person organization and am the Head of HR with just one direct report. The direct report was just promoted to manager and is doing good, they are very young and capable but not ready for what my biggest strategic goal is going to be right now. I’ve been with this organization for almost 20 years and the time has come for me to retire. I want to travel and enjoy grandkids. I have only spoken to the President and the COO (my manager) that I am planning to retire in the next 12-18 months and would like to start the process of planning for my succession- which we agree will need to include planning and likely a lengthy external search. I have a couple of contacts that might be a good fit but want to do a full recruitment, and will need to tell my report very soon.

I’m looking for some guidance on any approaches and tips anyone in this type of situation has seen around planning for this. I appreciate any guidance.

Like, let’s say there’s someone who has struggled on something whether it’s a commitment or project, and they’ve made a good faith effort to try to improve, and actually were able to show some improvement. Despite that effort, have you ever kind of thought, well I could give some credit, but I’m going to double down and try to find everything wrong to try to erase whatever progress has been made by that person?

Starting a list of movies that I feel are pretty dangerous. The far right likes to apply censorship. I’m not saying these movies should be banned, but more like they are overrated and portray dangerous stereotypes IMO or propagate racism and oppression.

Green Street Hooligans (2005) - street gangs are evil and dangerous until it’s white British boys who are just poorly misunderstood and sing a cute song about bubbles

The Best Exotic Merigold Hotel - old white people suck and should stay out of everyone’s business and not fucking travel and put their own dumbass cracker expectations on other more intelligent and just classier cultures.

End of the Spear (2005) - omg. Fuck this movie so much. This movie was shown across Catholic schools that taught “world religions” in high school in an attempt to seem worldly and academic and omfg this movie is white savior and colonialist propaganda shit
