Anybody tested old patrols in new CoPa?

Anybody tested old patrols in new CoPa?

A friend of mine played a round with me and he had alot of fun. He thinks about joining the hobby. He loves and reads the lore of iron warriors.

This box seems a good Deal and good starting point into the hobby. Unfortunatly he wont be able to play them cause the rules are not Update yet (hope they will).

So i was thinking just taking the old rules from 10th edition and work with them just for the fun. Might be not perfectly balanced but he could play them

Anyway have a great day!

Stuttering: Geforce Now Ultimate + Claw + Mouse

Hey

I recently expirience heavy stuttering ingame while using a gaming mouse.

There is no problem using the Joystick

I have my msi claw 8 ai pro on an ivanky docking Station

I tried every graphic option in 3 different games

I changed the mouse to 125 Hz

I put the mouse directly into the claw

Nothing helped. The customer Support was very unhelpful just telling me mouse on handhelds is not supported. Like i should know this while everywhere it tells me msi claw is supported and obviously i would like to use a gaming mouse frome time to time

Anyone Else having this problem? Or maybe you can use mouse geforce now and msi claw perfectly fine?

Thanks for your help

Scoring - interesting?

Had the chance to play combat patrol.

I play spearhead alot. It is a really good game mode.

The core gameplay of combat patrol is fun because 40k is fun. Terrain rules and Cover are a nice system that makes this mode different and fun compared to spearhead.

Still there is one thing that could be made better i think and it is scoring. The concept is similiar to big 40k and for explaining the game mode i get why they did it.

But i am missing some additional mechanics to score.

I like that every patrol has its own winning condition - but like in spearhead i need additional Things to do.

I think this would make the game way better.

F.e. in my games i played i didnt score until round 3 cause my patrol only scores on objectives - feels bad to have 0 points for half of the game.

spearhead round one has already a big impact on scoring. In combat patrol the first move is just moving maybe taking one objective with a good advance getting only 5 VP if your are lucky

Are you guys using the secondaries of big 40k?

Did you manage to make some house rules?

What are your thoughts on scoring?

Rules clarification

Hey we played 40k combat patrol and we are fairly new to 40k.

command re-roll: i am confused by the wording reroll just one die. In 10th edition it meant if the roll is consisting of more dice f.e. 2d6 shots you can reroll both. Or 3d6 damage your reroll all dice. A hit roll is always one die. Now it states pnly one die except charge rolls. Am i playing the stratagem like in 10th edition?

Precision: a friend used this stratagem on his bloodclaws with his battle leader. I faced him with my ork boyz and warboss. He managed to almost kill my warboss with 2 wounds left. So next fight Phase He just did it again. Killed him .

You can use this in every fight Phase right?

Wounds spill over on the bodyguaed unit when the warboss dies right? Because it just changes the allocstion group

It is pretty strong right? He killed my Boss just in one fight Phase almost? Did we play it wrong somehow?

Anyway thanks for your help

First weekend- first impressions

So people might have played their first games of combat patrol.

I did yesterday.

What is your first impression? Is it fun? How is scoring?

How is balance?

We didnt get a "spearhead" overhaul. So i had to turn down my expectations. The game itself (orks vs. Space wolfs) was fun and really helped understanding the game (casual player here teaching a friend).

Core game is fun because core rules are fun. Both patrols have cool units. We had interesting and exiting moments.

I think orks have really fun primaries and interesting mechanics and abilites.

Both armies felt Balanced- but it was my first game though

What i think was odd:

- scoring felt a bid thin? I didnt score until round 4 cause opponent clogged the midfield. There is now way to do Alternative scoring through secondaries or bonus points like in spearhead

- space wolfs detachment is boring. This should have an impact. I hoped for something with sagas. You just get better Detection range? Ok ... wont be relevant most of the time

Question: deployment area is just the coloured rectangle (blue red) right? Orks clogged the whole area and looked odd cause there were so many units in one place

Did you try playing with secondary deck? Is it balanced? Are there enough units to score it? I think it might add more opportunities for scoring...

Anyway alot to take in here and i really hope that mode will make me want to play it again and again. For now it does and i am really looking foreward playing the orks.

Have a nice day

"Returning" player

I build and painted lotr miniatures when i was 13

Now more than 20 years forward i am a dad and came back to the hobby cause of a friend.

I love spearhead and warhammer 40k i mainly paint miniaturs but really like playing the game casually and more skirmish style

How would you describe the Difference in painting lotr miniatures?

Is there a place for casual/smaller games?

I am thinking about proxy a spearhead with lotr miniatues

Beast Snagga worth?

A friend is getting the KT box for the exodite.

Is it worth to expand my armageddon team with these snagga boyz and riders? Or do i need more than 10 + 4 models to fulfill a purpose in 40k?

New to orks !

Happy Waagh! (Do you say that? :D)

New Orks - C&C needed!

Hello orks friends and painting experts

I tried something new and made my own paint scheme. I tried to use a complementary color to make the skin even stronger.

The blue shoulder plate looked very flat so i tried some chipping on it (compare to last picture)

Made it better but still i am thinking something is missing? Maybe some rust effects in the dark brown chipping???

Also what base? Thought of armaggedon dust- some brown and dust Tones like screaming skull drybrush.

Anyway i am working on that miniatures for days and keep coming back because i think it is still unfinished. What do you think?

Thanks for your help!

Shift and reset?

Are we seeing a combat patrol reset?

Alot of old combat patrols are gone.

In this picture you see new deathguard rules - the detachments costs 1 db.

Enhancments with no costs.

What does that mean?

Is this a hard reset to Balance combat patrol?

Are we seeing a shift to more 40k rules just in reduced size?

Are we getting more detachments in our codex?

Are we seeing dp 0.5 in combat patrol?

I am very sorry for everyone collecting alot of combat patrols that are now gone

Early rumours ! We still need to wait until full explanations are incoming. Anyway i like to discuss with you

Red orcs - C&C needed :)

Helle painting experts

These are my first 40k orcs.

I love maghar orcs from wow

How would you break up this scheme? I think i have too much red/rust so its harmonic but not that interesting to look at right?

Teal? Turquoise? Violet? Vibrant or cold? Blue?

What Clan and lore would fit for second color?

Thanks for your help

Bleak Host - all human

Hello !

Wanted to share my recent painting project

I build my own bleak host spearhead. Wanted to be them all human with the new models cause i am not that fan of the demon part of nurgle.

The double axe fatty guy will be my general throwing his axes and making battle shouts in the command Phase to buff the rotswords.

The two horses will be the cavalry so i changed and magnetized the bases so they fit the spearhead.

How can they fly? Well the horses are so bloated they can "float behind enemy lines"

If you have better explanations feel free to comment. Also the general choice is not finalized- suggestions for a better fitting general appreciated :D

C&C welcome. Anyway great models and very fun to paint. Hyped to play them in our spearhead casual gaming group :)

Have a great day !

City of Ash - a good expirience?

Hello spearhead fanatics!

Im a total Spearhead fan!

I want to teach a friend - he likes the cities of sigmar. He is new to the hobby

Is city of ash Balanced? Is it fun?

Does the skaven total destroy the humans?

How is your review of this box?

Have a great day !

u/Eisenfelge — 3 months ago

I really hoped for some news on the Combat patrol system.

There were rumours about the second deck inside the box used by combat patrol making it more interesting like spearhead for AoS.

Now that we have seen everything from the box there were almost no info on how CP will work in new 40k.

I am a casual player and really love the concept of one box = army -> play. But i didnt enjoy it like i did with spearhead or just playing a 1000 point game

Did you heard any news? How do you think new 40k will help evolve CP?

u/Eisenfelge — 4 months ago

Hello!

I am a huge spearhead enjoyer.

I do hope they manage to elevate CP into its own small game like they did with spearhead. Building small CP Boxes would give me some much enjoyment as a casual player.

Anyone else hoping for a nice refresh of the rules in 11th edition? I am a bit sad that they didnt announce anything yet which could mean CP didnt get that much attention.

You think the huge success of SH came to late and 11th edition was done by that time?

What do you hope CP is going to be in 11th edition?

Should it stay the same?

Whats with the secret deck they didnt talk about yet?

Will terrain play a bigger role in CP? Working as an objective ?

Anyway just wanted to make a discussion/rumour about that topic cause the waiting for some news about CP is driving me crazy - maybe you already know something i dont know

Have a great day !
