I remember a time when moving a large file from one folder to another could take ages. Not only that, but if your storage was nearly full, the system wouldn't even let you move the file, warning you that there wasn't enough free space.

But nowadays you can move even huge files almost instantaneously, even when your storage is nearly full, without any hassle.

How did we solve this problem?

simkl works fine in Chrome and Chromium browsers. But in Firefox, the performance stutter is noticeable. It's not terrible, but it is there.

Give some recommendations. I have watched Daruchini Dwip, Aynabaji, Utshob, Lalshalu. And I have liked each and every one of those.

For me, it would be the ability to minimize an app window to a tray in the top bar. Basically, a dedicated space for all minimized apps and showing their symbolic icons. You could hover over an icon to preview the window, right-click it for additional options (like closing the app), and have a dropdown arrow at the end to close all minimized apps at once. It could also show apps that are running in the background.

I know this isn't really the GNOME Way™, since GNOME hides the Maximize and Minimize buttons by default. But it's not a big deal for me because I already use extensions to add similar functionality. So I'm fine with it for now. Still, having something like this built into GNOME by default would be pretty cool.

I’ve never seen pharmacies here stock tampons on their shelves. I’ve also never seen any advertisements for tampons on TV.

So it got me wondering: do women in Bangladesh actually use tampons, or are they considered too taboo, even more so than sanitary pads?

I know there’s a strong emphasis in this country on preserving a woman’s hymen, despite the fact that the hymen can change or tear for many reasons unrelated to intercourse. So I’m wondering whether some women avoid tampons because of the misconception that using one could affect their virginity or potentially cause problems in a future marriage, especially given the obsession some people have with having a “virgin” wife.

One thing I noticed was that the CV format, sections, and overall requirements are surprisingly different from what you typically see in foreign job markets. And they don't seem to follow any standard ATS-friendly format either.

Like I was genuinely surprised to see that some of them ask us to attach a passport-sized photo to the CV. They also want your entire educational background, including your SSC and HSC results, along with the names of your schools and colleges!! And I'm sitting here wondering: why the hell do they need all those details for a job that's completely unrelated to my SSC or HSC? If I have a university degree relevant to the position, shouldn't that be enough to demonstrate my qualifications?

And not only that, some of them ask for detailed information like birth certificate or NID number, your full permanent address, and even your guardian's details. I was like, WTF?!! Why do they need this much unnecessary personal information just to apply for a job? If they wanna do a background check, that should come in later after they hire me.

I also seriously doubt that many of these organizations are even using ATS to screen CVs. Because honestly, what the hell? These seemingly huge corporations are still hiring people like it's the 1980s.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been seeing high school teachers pop up on my social media feed, some of them crying or visibly depressed in their videos as they talk about how their students are struggling to read or write even a simple, meaningful sentence. They claim that they’re being forced to promote students to the next grade even when they fail their tests.

As an Asian, this is honestly difficult for me to wrap my head around. I can’t imagine how that’s even possible! But at the same time, I feel like there’s probably some nuance to this. Is the situation really that bad, or are people exaggerating it and being overly dramatic?

I am not talking about “শ্যামলা-ফর্সা,” nor am I referring to albinism. I mean genuinely white skin, like the kind we commonly see among Europeans.

Did Bengalis somehow mix with British people during the colonial period, or could this simply be a genetic variation that causes some Bengalis to have skin tones that light?

Every now and then, whenever some guy posts or comments something about their wife, some other dude will use that joke in the replies, and these gets quite a lot of votes. This is an overused, unfunny and honestly the worst joke I have ever heard. There's no originality, no creativity, I don't even understand how can someone find this even remotely funny.
