So folks, I tried to do a criminal background check of our newly designated Education Minister, Mr. Pralhad Joshi with the use of ChatGPT. The following are my findings.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Verified FIRs/cases found

1) Hubballi — Kasaba Pet Police Station FIR (2018)

  • FIR: No. 03.02.2018 (registered 31 March 2018)
  • Police station: Kasaba Pet Police Station, Hubballi, Karnataka
  • Court: JMFC III Court, Hubballi
  • Case No.: 0032/2018
  • Sections:
    • IPC 153A — promoting enmity between groups
    • IPC 298 — deliberate words/actions intended to wound religious feelings
  • Status: Pending in the available records; charges were not framed at the time of the affidavit record.
  • Conviction: None recorded. (MyNeta)

Older FIR/case records disclosed in court/affidavit databases

2) Four cases from the 1990s (declared in 2004 affidavit)

These appear to relate to political protest/agitation-type incidents. The disclosed case details are: (MyNeta)

Case Date shown Case/CC number Sections listed
Case 1 21 Aug 1996 Case No. 350/96, CC No. 615/98 IPC 143, 147, 341, 323, 352, 353, 435, 506, 427, 149
Case 2 13 Apr 1998 Case No. 91/98, CC No. 281/99 IPC 143, 147, 353, 427, 149
Case 3 30 Jan 1997 Case No. 44/97, CC No. 80/99 IPC 452, 148, 427, 149
Case 4 7 Oct 1995 Case No. 350/95, CC No. 175/02 IPC 143, 147, 341, 353, 149

No conviction is listed for these cases. (MyNeta)

3) 2014 railway-related case

A separate entry appears in the 2014 affidavit:

  • Court: II Additional JMFC Court, Dharwad
  • Case: CC No. 171/2008
  • Sections: Railway Act provisions 145(b)(c), 146, 147 and 174(a)
  • Status in affidavit: Cognizance taken; no conviction listed. (MyNeta)

Bottom line

From the publicly searchable records I could verify:

  • Total identifiable criminal proceedings/FIR-linked cases: about 6
    • 4 older IPC cases from the 1990s
    • 1 railway-related case
    • 1 2018 FIR under IPC 153A/298
  • No criminal conviction found in these records. (MyNeta)
  • I did not find an additional Karnataka Police FIR against him outside these disclosed matters in the searchable sources reviewed.

A caveat: Karnataka police FIR databases are not fully open/publicly searchable by a person's name, so an undisclosed complaint/FIR that never appeared in election filings or indexed court records may not be discoverable through public sources.I searched specifically for Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi (Dharwad MP/Union Minister) beyond the election-affidavit summaries, including Karnataka-related FIR references, court databases, and news-indexed records. The result is:Verified FIRs/cases found1) Hubballi — Kasaba Pet Police Station FIR (2018)FIR: No. 03.02.2018 (registered 31 March 2018)

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh is ready to resign.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Thursday, July 23, said he was prepared to resign if doing so would help improve the state’s education and examination system, rejecting Opposition allegations that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government had failed to ensure transparency after reports of malpractice in a pharmacy recruitment examination.

“The irregularities in the pharmacy examination were identified by our own government and administration. We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, paper leaks and cheating. If my resignation can contribute to making Punjab’s education and examination system stronger, I am ready to step down today itself,” Bains said.

Now what excuse does our education minister Dharmendra Pradhan have?

Need help with NEET UG counselling

[I am posting this question on the behalf of u/The_Sheepherder2396 as they are unable post due to karma limits.]

Hi! I have secured a rank of 8.4k this year and have MH domicile. Was wondering how I should rank these colleges in my preference list. I would really appreciate the help.

  1. Grant Medical College (JJ Hospital), Mumbai
  2. BJ Medical College (BJMC), Pune
  3. TNMC (Nair), Mumbai
  4. HBT Medical College & Cooper Hospital, Mumbai
  5. GMC and GT Hospital, Mumbai
  6. GMC, Nagpur
  7. Rajiv Gandhi GMC, Thane
  8. GMC, Ch. Sambhajinagar

If possible, could you also answer these doubts -

- How are the academics there?
- Is hostel available from 1st year? If yes how is the facility, is there a mess etc?
- Is there good patient inflow/clinical exposure? Are seniors helpful? Is there any ragging?
- Co-curriculars, fests, clubs, etc there?
- How is environment & alumni network for USMLE/NEET PG?
- Based on most people I've talked to, most colleges I can get into are pretty similar academics wise. Should living conditions/proximity to home be my primary criteria?

Thanks in advance!

Pellet guns, shock batons used against protesters in Delhi; police deny

At least one of the 80 protesters injured in police action during the Monday (July 20, 2026) march to Parliament called by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) sustained pellet gun injuries, according to a source at Lady Hardinge Medical College, where the victim is undergoing treatment.

A friend of Shaikh Irshad Mansoori (25), the protester, told The Hindu that Mr. Mansoori was hit near Palika Bazaar in Connaught Place by a Rapid Action Force (RAF) jawan in uniform.

This appears to be the first known instance of security forces using pellet guns on civilians in Delhi. A video of a woman being stunned by a shock baton also emerged on Tuesday (July 21). This is also the first known case of shock batons, which emanate mild electric shock, being used in Delhi.

Pellet guns and shock batons are part of the RAF’s gear, the anti-riot unit under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which was deployed alongside Delhi Police on Monday (July 20) in and around Jantar Mantar during the protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

While the CRPF did not comment, in response to a video shared by CJP’s Saurav Das on X showing Mr. Mansoori’s wounds, Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, said, “Reports claiming that police forces are using pellet guns against peaceful protesters are completely false and misleading. The public is strongly advised not to share or circulate unverified content. Please verify facts from official sources before posting or forwarding any information.”
