Saw a lot of ppl today and found some interesting things

Had a good time, about a dozen ppl stopped and chatted with us and about 5000 people walked past on the opposite side, marshalled by the police, on their way out of the Notts County ground, was good fun.

Found a cheap pocket watch, 2 more lanterns (total found on that stretch is 3 now), a chair, a very heavy square of steel plate, 15 Great British pence, an old Casio scientific calculator or personal organiser, a fish and random lumps of metal.

A good day.

Thrown a bone by a manager that has realised he might actually need me.

I'm possibly a week away from getting a new job (with an agency) because my manager thought my job was not efficient or important.

Turns out my job is and the new person doing it is (4 weeks later) useless.

My manager has asked me to return to my job 'every other day' but on the other days I must do the nonsense job he has given me (I might as well be sweeping floors).

I'm pretty sure over time this will mean I get my original job back, and I want that. I enjoyed it, am good at it.

But part of me says fuck em.

I'm a min wage worker, I did more than what is expected from a min wage worker, and I've been treated like shit.

I just want some views on what to do.

What would you do ?

(I have a contract, if I get the new job I will not have a contract but I do expect to get one in 3 months) Also, I'm in my late 50's.

Was going to the police the right move, and is it the right move again (England) ?

My son, 15, was stupid and poured water on a 12 year old and hit him on the head with the empty bottle.

He did it out of frustration because the younger boy had been doing it to him and others on the school bus for a few weeks and even though reported nothing had changed.

After that my son was suspended by the school for 2 days (I agree with the punishment) but he was then beaten up by a 17 year old boy on his way home and had to take a week off school due to his injuries (the beating was due to the water incident).

This was reported to the police.

A week later (today) a car pulled up to me and my son and said they know where we live and they would attack us if my son did the same again.

I have also reported that to the police.

Am I making it worse by involving the police, or am I doing the right thing ?

I've been taken off the team for no good reason, UK.

I've been a min wager warehouse worker for 2.5 years, 2 years in the same dept.
No complaints about my work, the opposite in fact.
Our new manager had an argument with my supervisor last week, my supervisor has since been calling in sick.
The day after the argument my manager told me I am being reassigned to another dept.
He dressed it up as a business decision but I feel he is just trying to break up our team (we are a good, highly regarded team with zero complaints against us).
I'm not happy and feel this is not a business decision but a personal one.

Is there anything I can do, raise a grievance for example ?

Apparently my health condition means I have to have a risk assesment.

I work in a warehouse, around 4 months ago I suffered from 'near' fainting spells and being unsteady on my feet.

Had some time off, mostly afternoons when it got worse, and was diagnosed with high blood pressure.

Took a while to get my medication to the correct dose (they start at 2.5mg, I'm now on 5mg) and I feel a lot better, I'm ok but not perfect.

I have been told the health and safety guy at our work place needs to give me a risk assesment.

I feel as though I'm going to be out of a job with this, how honest should I be with them, what should I say / not say ?

The site has layed off a lot of ppl this year and not replaced them, they are defo on a drive to make cuts.

I'm having very brown semen 9 months after my biopsy.

I had a 70 core biopsy some 9 months ago and spoke about it briefly here as I was worried a couple of months later.

My semen has been normal since then but the last 2 times (in a 3 week period) it has been incredibly brown, dark brown.

I understand that means it is old blood, but I don't understand why I've started getting it again.

If a scab has come away, the blood would be red yes ?

Why have I had dark brown blood twice now in 3 weeks some 9 months after my biopsy ? Does the blood pool somewhere else ?

I'm just confused and wonder if anyone has any thoughts.

Thank you.

Can an employer treat workers differently when they all do the same job / have the same job description (England) ?

So, I work in a warehouse in England, I am one of about 200 employees (it is actually a large German owned company with 4 sites in England).

I am one of the about 100 employees who are bottom of the ladder, a General Operative (I am contracted, not agency, but agency make up 50% of the General Operatives).

The 100 above me are lead operatives, supervisors, managers, and onsite directors (yes, it's a bit top heavy).

Anyway today, for no understandable reason, my supervisor and the 5 people in his team have been told they (we) are no longer allowed a morning or afternoon break, we are just allowed the statutory 30 mins unpaid lunch break.

I get it, the morning and afternoon 15 mins break are not legally required.

But, everyone else in the building still gets their extra morning and afternoon 15 min breaks.

I should add that we have been given no explination as to why we are being 'punished' and we really can't see why we are, we have done nothing different today than at any time in the last 18 months, we are confused.

Can our employer discriminate against 6 people out of 200 ?

Should we not all be treated the same ?

I understand some here (or just some) might think we have done omething to deserve this but we have not (and even if we had, is this right / legal) ?

TLDR : we are treated worse than 95% of the employees in my company, is this legal ?

Predicted grades are lower or equal to mocks, is this right (England) ?

Hi.

I'm a father.

My daughter is wanting to study vet at Cambridge and took 4 A level mocks last month, A A B A*.

Her predicted are A A A A.

This makes no sense to her (or us), she is not behind, has been consistantly top of her class (we even have the mock papers at home, and one of the results showning an A is actually an A*).

She's rightly upset and will speak to her teachers tomorrow but I wonder if anyone can help me understand this.

I'm simply seeking advice.

Is it normal for predicted to be lower than mocks ?
Is there an organisation we can approach to challenge these predicted results ?
Is there a better sub reddit to seek advice on ?

Thanks for any help.

I'm looking for a UK holiday, and I have no idea where to start.

Which is weird, because I live in the UK,

There are 4 of us, Mum, Dad, Children A & B both over 16 but under 18.

We have not been away for many years due to money but we have some savings this year and want to go away for a break.

Can anyone please hepl with ideas ?

We have a max £1500 budget, and are looking for 5 nights full board some time between the 17th and 31st Oct this year.

We don't own a car and know the weather will be bad so we are thinking the further north the better, might as well go for the Northern Lights and scenery over beach and sun.

We are normal people on a budget from the midlands, both parents closer to 60 than 45.

Literally and advice or ideas are welcome, thank you.

foodservice wholesalers / distributors

Like many people I am looking to save money on my monthly shop (family of 4 including 2 teens).
Does anyone have views or experience in using a service such as JJ Foodservice or another wholesaler to bulk buy for their family ?
I'm mostly thinking meats and veg but interested in any views.

65% of Britons support capping CEO pay at 10× the lowest-paid worker. Do you think this idea would be good for the UK?

A guy I know who does not work on my dept and is only on friendly terms with me (hello's and light chats) has an awful life and I want to know if I can help him.

It's only light chats because he has learning disabilities and it's awkward for him, I have much better relations with some of his actual departmental colleagues and we talk often and in depth.

Lets call my guy George. He's in his 40's, lives at home with his mother and her partner.

Someone in the home hordes (it's extreemly difficult for him to navigate the house and get to his room).

One or more members of his family have access to his bank account and owe him a couple of thousand pounds (the exact figure could be higher or lower).

He is being scammed online by ppl pretending to show romantic interest in him, this has cost him another two thousand pounds over the last 18 months from what we can gather.

He only eats chocolate and pop at work, in over 3 years no one has ever seen him eat anything else.

His mother and partner have stated to him they want him out the house, this is quite recent news.

I have no idea of the family dynamics, who is pulling the strings etc, but I do know his ability to work has suffered and the company is showing zero interest in trying to help him (we have approached management who tell us he himself needs to approach HR, something he will not do, in our opinion) please remember he has a learning disability and we are trying to help him without his knowledge as none of us have any idea how him knowing will effect him.

If this is the wrong sub I'm sorry, I just want some advice as to what entity I can approach to help him and what the repercussions could be for him and us.

Thank you.
