I was taking my son to a barber who did amazing fades, but he's been wanting to grow it out. We let it go all summer but it needs to get cleaned up to at least sort of look like some kind of intentional style before school starts. I have been bopping around to different salons with no real luck for my own cuts so I'm coming here for suggestions. Thanks in advance!
Hello! I am from Albany, but I was up at a bike shop in Salem looking for a new bike. I mentioned that I am looking to get back into biking after a multi-year hiatus and the guy pointed to this flyer on the door.
My oldest kiddo asked me if he could come. Is that acceptable? He's 11 and has a mountain bike. I have an old school "hybrid" with commuter tires. We don't have "kits" or fancy street bikes. So is super casual actually casual in the way where noobs with average gear are cool?
I just wanted to see if anyone here has a little more info on these rides. I assume we can drop off as necessary if, say, one is old and out of practice. Are weirdos from Albany allowed?

Welp. No real surprise there! Daisy came from Mexico via a dog rescue in Oregon. She's very smart and very lazy, especially for a puppy. She's an interesting little thing but very sweet and very quiet. She almost never barks. Results on last photos. I was expecting pit because it seems like all shleter dogs have a good chunk pit, and because she is so agreeable and lazy. She's got long legs, a long skinny body and a long tail! I was half expecting dachshund. ;) Her face isn't blocky, but I thought her eyes looked like pit.
We had a pittie for 12 years (adopted him at ~5 years old). He had been abused and was neurotic but always insanely sweet and patient with my kids. He died almost 2 years ago. I swore I would never get another dog because my heart was broken. Then I swore I would never get another pit because people were always weird (sometimes rude and ignorant) about it. Guess I suck at setting boundaries.
Daisy leaves a little to the imagination so hopefully people won't immediately judge, but they can kick rocks if they do. We're already in puppy training classes to make sure she is a "good citizen". 👍
She's a Daisy. I was rooting for Daphne. My husband wanted Walter. My daughter won out with Daisy because she is persistent!
Daisy has been incredibly well-behaved and quiet and gentle. I'm almost concerned, but assuming she's still decompressing. We're only on day 4 (5?). We brought her home Saturday. Sunday was first full day.
She basically potty trained herself. She's loves her kennel. She lays around a lot. She doesn't bark. Is curious about the cat but does not chase. Only thing she doesn't like is her leash, but I'm working with her on it. I meet with a trainer this afternoon to discuss obedience training. She is my first puppy. I have always adopted adult dogs in the past.
I ordered a DNA test kit. The rescue guessed lab mix, but I'm doubtful.

It has been increasingly difficult to identify what the Democratic party has to offer. The fact that they spent nearly 10 years telling us that Donald Trump was the greatest threat to our country, but in the 4 years Biden was president no one was able to do a single thing to prevent him from being eligible for reelection or hold him accountable in any way for the insurrection. It was the single most disappointing thing I have experienced in my lifetime. His reelection broke my brain. Figuring out everything I was raised to believe about this country was nothing more than a fairy tale was a jarring experience. We knew ahead of time exactly what they planned to do and how they would do it with Project 2025 and, again, somehow there was absolutely no way to stop any of it. We're supposed to believe this is the greatest country in the world? That our form of government is superior to others in some way? Why, exactly, is that? Because we all have a vote? A voice? Because we all have chance to succeed? That's pretty laughable given the last week, isn't it? Christ, man. They overturned Roe. They killed the VRA. They're torturing people in concentration camps. People can't afford to eat. They're celebrating exploding credit card debt. What the hell are we doing?
We need to see somebody from the Democratic party step up who can make us believe that we can be proud to be American again. Bring dignity back. Make us believe we have a voice by giving it to us. Show us that the dream can be real. Show us the promise of a future for our kids. This government is supposed to be of, by and FOR the people!
