In SOTR, it was revealed that Dr. Gaul (who Haymitch described as a "relic of a woman") was still alive at the time of the first Quarter Quell, and that she gave commentary on those Games alongside Lucky Flickerman, who was still the official host of the Hunger Games. Do you think Dr. Gaul was still the Head Gamemaker at that time, or do you think she had stepped down from that role to occupy the role Claudius Templesmith occupied in the original trilogy, namely that of official announcer/commentator of the Hunger Games (but obviously with far more prestige and grandeur than Claudius had)? If Dr. Gaul was no longer the Head Gamemaker, then perhaps Snow occupied that position during the first Quarter Quell…

Trump promised to lower gas and grocery prices when he won reelection in 2024, yet now they continue to rise due to all of the trouble he needlessly stirred up in Iran. Notice how the Republicans are not saying a word against Trump for any of this? (Location: NY) I am a level 1 autistic person with type 1 diabetes (and probably an intellectual disability as well, though I have never been formally diagnosed with ID), and I have not been doing such a good job managing it lately, which means that my blood sugars are often very high (300+). I know that uncontrolled diabetes is very dangerous, and that it can lead to all sorts of horrific complications such as blindness, kidney failure, and limbs having to be amputated. I am remembering to take the insulin I am supposed to take, but I do eat a lot stuff that isn't the best for me, and I haven't been exercising as much lately.

I worry that my parents might use this as an excuse to get emergency guardianship over me. An emergency guardianship is a guardianship that someone get over an incapacitated person without having to go through the normal, time consuming steps that one normally has to go through to get guardianship because the alleged incapacitated person (AIP) is in a situation where there physical or financial well being is in immediate danger. In my case, my type 1 diabetes being poorly managed is putting my physical well being in immediate danger, and this could give my parents justification to get emergency guardianship over me if they chose to do so. I worry that I wouldn't even be allowed to attend the emergency guardianship hearing because a doctor would have me hospitalized for high blood sugars and say I couldn't attend the hearing because my medical condition was too unstable.

For the record, I have made many other very poor decisions in the past besides just not managing my diabetes effectively. For example, I neglected my responsibilities as a student, and ended up getting kicked out of Stony Brook University as a result of that. Also, I went over to the public elementary school I went to as a child to play on the swings when school wasn't in session, and then I walked around the schools looking in the windows to look in the windows, freaking out the faculty and staff. Also, I threatened a former schoolmate of mine and his family on Facebook with brutality and death because he picked on me in middle school for my abnormally low level of intelligence. I worry because if a doctor heard about all this, they would push my parents towards emergency guardianship, and then I would lose all of my rights and autonomy without being able to do anything about it...

How is it that Britney’s dad was able to get a full conservatorship over her in a 10 minute hearing that Britney herself wasn’t even allowed to attend? Also, why didn’t Britney contest the conservatorship at the beginning, why did it take over a decade for her to finally get her rights back? The fact that someone can be stripped of their rights so quickly without even being given a chance to advocate for themself is very deeply concerning…

Obviously, the twist of reaping the tributes from the victors was not the original plan for the third Quarter Quell, and Snow did that just so he could get rid of Katniss (as well as other victors who might pose a threat), and subdue the districts. However, what I wonder is whether Snow and his advisors came up with that idea from scratch, or if that twist was meant for a later Quarter Quell (perhaps the fourth Quarter Quell), and Snow just swapped whatever was supposed to be the twist for the third Quarter Quell (I heard Suzanne Collins once indicated it was originally supposed to be a brother-sister Quell) with the victor twist which was meant for a future Quell. What do you think?

Fourth Quarter Quell (100th anniversary) - “On the centennial anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that if they ever dare to take up arms against the Capitol again, their sufferings shall be increased by threefold, every district will be required to send three times as many tributes to the Hunger Games. Fifth Quarter Quell (125th anniversary) - “On the 125th anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that rebellion forges chains that bind the guilty together, each pair of tributes from a district shall be shackled to one another for the duration of the Games. They will live together, fight together, and die together—bound by the chains of their own treachery. Any tributes who attempt to remove their chains will be immediately killed by the Gamemakers."

Eighth Quarter Quell (200th anniversary) - “On the bicentennial anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that many children were left as orphans as a result of their violent and destructive actions, each district shall reap as tributes a set of parents, one mother and one father who have at least one child under the age of 18 together.”

Ninth Quarter Quell (225th anniversary) - “On the 225th anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that many families lost not just one, but multiple children as a result of their violent insurrection against the Capitol, the tributes in each district shall be reaped from the children of reaping age who have at least one sibling who died in the Hunger Games.”

Tenth Quarter Quell (250th anniversary) - “On the 250th anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that the greatest threats to their safety were often their own neighbors and associates, each pair of district tributes will be forced to fight each other to the death at the start of the Games. If any parent refuses to comply with this requirement, then all of their children will be killed.”

(If any district lacks a living male or female victor, then any relative of a living victor, or a descendant of a deceased victor who is of the required sex shall be eligible to be reaped).”

Eighteenth Quarter Quell (450th anniversary) - “On the 450th anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that thousands of innocent people starved as a result of their actions, the districts that lose both of their tributes will be punished by having half of their food shipments for the following year cancelled.”

Nineteenth Quarter Quell (475th anniversary) - “On the 475th anniversary, as a reminder to the rebels that many good citizens perished unnecessarily from disease as a result of their criminal insurrection, each tribute shall be infected with a terrible disease before being sent into the arena. If any of you are the parent or sibling of a person with autism, have you ever dealt with the anger or despair that your child or sibling with autism expressed when they were put under guardianship? If so, what was it like?

So, I was making a right turn out of a parking lot, I had looked towards the direction of oncoming traffic, and after a few cars had gone by, the coast was clear (or so I thought). However, when I was making the turn, some guy decided to make a slow U-turn from the turn lane in the middle of the road, which meant I had to stop short right after I had turned right onto the street. Fortunately, there were no cars close behind me, so there was no accident or near accidents...

Does this incident show that I'm a bad driver?

I was reading an article from 2004 about the lives of kids who have siblings with autism. When I was reading the article, it was clear to me that the autistic kids they were talking about were kids with severe or profound autism, not higher functioning autistic kids. However, the article never referred to those kids as severely or profoundly autistic, they just said they were autistic or had autism. This makes me wonder if the word "autism" in those days was only used to refer to what we would now call severe or profound autism. Was high functioning autism even called "autism" at all?
