Am I too far behind schedule for May 2027 Wedding?

My wedding is May 2027 and i feel like i am so far behind, we have already rescheduled once. For some background, I never wanted a big wedding, my vote was to do it in our front yard with some friends/family and a food truck. But my fiancé LOVES a party and really wanted the big wedding (150 people). We originally set to get married in May 2026, but rescheduled last fall after my crying and begging in therapy because we just hadn’t done enough planning and i didn’t think we could pull it off (we had also recently undergone a serious personal tragedy so that contributed majorly to the lack of planning). We ultimately decided to push the wedding 1 year, but now with the date creeping again I’m feeling so distraught and anxious over an event i never wanted in the first place. Have we done enough? Or do we need to do more and fast?

What we have done so far:
-Booked the venue! We chose our venue soon after engagement and it was how my fiancé sold me on the big wedding, also why we had to reschedule more formally, but they were super nice about it.
-Bought my dress and his tux.
-Bought my wedding band (he is being very indecisive and lazy about picking his)
-Sent out Save the Dates
-Cake Tasting, but no cake booking yet

TBD:
-literally everything else
-food
-flowers
-photographer
-invites/wedding website
-entertainment/music
-HMUA
-Veil/shoes/jewelry
-anything i am missing here??

Any advice welcome! My fiancé and i also both have super busy jobs and severe ADHD so big organized events like this are not really in our skill set. Are we screwed and need to rush? Or do we still have time and I’m being overly anxious? I’m seriously considering a wedding planner even though it’s not in our budget, just to offload the mental anxiety.

Advice for new library job for someone with no prior library experience?

Hi all, I’m currently in an interview process for a library management position in my city and was wondering if anyone had any advice as this would be my first true library job. I’ve previously worked in teaching (public) and in my state’s archives so some adjacent experience. The field I have worked for in for a decade has been absolutely gutted by the federal government, and while i loved it, it seems like there will be no bounce back in this administration. I’ve always wanted to work in a library, and when this job posted it seemed like a dream come true, especially when my current industry is crumbling. The library job pays the same as my current job so I’m fine with that. My current job is mostly WFH, and this would be full time in office, but a <15 min commute. I’m nervous about making such a large career change where so many things will be different, but it feels right. Any advice people wish they had when they started their first library job? Or from other folks who made big career changes like this?

Grubhub quietly stops waiving service fees on orders over $50??

Went to order a large order for some friends and I. I only use grub hub for bulk orders like this since they started waiving service fees. But now it only shows the delivery fee as being covered! Anyone else experience this? I emailed customer service and they told me to check if my order was over $50, even though i sent them a screenshot with the order being $54.

Most walkable neighborhood in South Austin?

I’ve lived in North Austin for almost 10 years now, and have found some decent walkable neighborhoods, but they tend to be pretty pricey. We are looking into moving South to be closer to our jobs/friends, but I’m a New Englander originally who hates to drive. Any recommendations for walkable neighborhoods in South Austin I should check out while we search for houses? I really just want to be able to walk to a grocery store, and maybe have a few things nearby without being trapped in the suburban sprawl.

Books that helped you?

Longtime lurker, first time poster. My life has been riddled with addict and alcoholics pretty much since birth. Recently, two relationships have with addicts that were dormant have become increasingly challenging. Reading is a huge outlet for me and my mental health, and i wondered if anyone had any book recommendations that helped them through similarly challenging relationships with alcoholics. Open to fiction and nonfiction!

When did the 9-5 turn into 8-5?

My entire childhood I remember hearing about the “9-5” nonstop. When i entered the workforce in 2012 the shift had already taken place where every job expected 8-5 with an HOUR baked in for lunch. Since then I’ve never taken the hour lunch and worked 8:30-5 the last 14ish years, but every job I’ve worked or applied to has expected 8-5 as normal working hours. When did this shift actually take place for people who have been in the workforce for much longer than me? How did they transition everyone? Or did the 9-5 never actually exist and I was propagandized by Dolly Parton lol.

Stuck in an overpriced luxury rental. Will we ever be able to sublet?

My partner and I live in the Far West neighborhood, and about a year ago we lost our house in the flooding from last year. We were homeless for a while living in and out of different hotels, and then finally found a rental that was absolute top of budget (3bd, 2bath, $2800). The market was so competitive and all rent was so high after the floods we really had no other choice. Because of this we also got tricked into signing a two year lease even though we really didn’t want to, but again we were homeless, broke, and desperate.

Since then both of our jobs have moved way far south Austin where rent is way cheaper and i feel like we are bleeding money and time (commute) staying in our current place. We begged our landlord to let us out early since we had already lived there for a year and were in a rough spot when we first signed. He said we could only get out if we got a sub letter. I can’t imagine anyone signing on to the last year of our lease when the rent is so comparatively expensive to everything else right now.

Looking for any and all advice and thoughts. Are we dreaming thinking we even have a possibility of subletting this place? Anyone gave any subletting advice or experience for Austin?

How do you “shop around” for lenders

My partner and I finally found a home we want to put in an offer on. But the rate we got pre-approved for was 7%. We both have good credit and full time jobs, but it is half a duplex so technically a condo and our lender told us that was the issue. Everyone keeps telling us to “shop around” for lenders, but what does that even mean? Putting in several different loan applications? Wouldn’t that ding our credit? How do we shop for lenders without hurting ourselves financially?

How to convince anti-mlm friend CutCo is an mlm?

A very close friend of mine recently got laid off and has convinced her husband to start selling Cutco—something she did in high school— to help them make ends meet. They have both been job hunting for a while, he works part time as an artist and makes a decent living in it, but certainly needs supplemental income, especially now that his wife is fully out of work. I’ve tried to be kind and polite about it, and trying to offer constructive options instead of just shitting on the option they are taking out of desperation, but i feel like I’m running out of options. They are CONVINCED it is not an mlm, and that the direct sales tactics are not shady. Even though she said herself that she almost didn’t break even after she became a manager!!

Anyone have any advice on how to help them see the light?? Or have any Cutco horror stories i could pass along? They are anti-mlm but totally convinced this one is not that.

What really bums me out is the last time we saw them at a large friend group hang, the whole hang turned into HOURS AND HOURS of them talking about these stupid knives and totally dominated our time together. They seemed almost angry none of us were willing to invest in these overpriced knives!! They’ve only just been hooked and already i miss my friends :(

Citi Concert pre-sale rip off?

I recently got concert tickets through an Citi presale offer. At first i was psyched, one of my favorite artists, often sells out fast, i can lock in my tickets early and have the pick of the litter! But once i went to buy them they were almost all VIP or super expensive aisle seats. I was gutted, but went for some mid range seats that were still way more money than I’d wanted to spend for way crappier seats than I’d wanted (was hoping for pit but only options were vip). The concert is tonight and on a whim i decided to check if there were any pit tickets available for a cheap resell, and turns out there were PLENTY of tickets available even ones very close to ours but steeply cheaper. Not resold either, original venue spots. And pit tickets for roughly 1/3 of what i had paid for my crappy seats. I’m super disappointed and thinking about getting the pit seats anyway, but it will basically have been the equivalent of me setting $300 on fire which i have a tough time swallowing in this economy. But is there anything I’m missing here with the presale?? I can’t wrap my head around how it is a “perk” to offer massively uncharged seats?? Do these presale tickets come with any special benefit or actual perk?? Drinks food merch anything?? Or is this just a known rip off and I’m the last idiot to fall for it.

Mikayla officially ex-Mormon?

Saw this comment under her video about misogyny during Miami Swim week. I didn’t realize she was officially out. Is Mayci the only cast member now that is still a Mormon and a wife??

I’ve seen such polarizing opinions on Zola, the Knot, and Joy across Reddit and amongst friends. I keep almost starting our wedding website and then stopping because I worry I’m making the wrong choice. Which one did you pick and why?? Was there something about one you really loved?? Or was there one you absolutely hated and why?? All thoughts, feelings, opinions, and gossip welcome!
