Where to find people to date who accept my condition?

I'm on the dating apps rn but it's rough. I either tell the person upfront and they ghost me or I try to wait but then when I'm struggling to form sentences or remember things after my evening meds they know something's wrong with me and then ghost. I just want to find my person 🥺.

Is it wrong to tell romantic matches upfront that you have schizoaffective disorder?

My logic is that I'd rather them jump ship at the beginning than me get deep with them and then they bail when I tell them. I've had like 3 people on the apps tell me everything was fine after I told them and then unmatch though. What gives?

Is anyone on a medication combination that has stopped all episodes including breakthroughs for a long time?

I hope to be able to get to that myself one day. It's been 5 years of being schizoaffective and numerous hospitalizations.

Psychiatrist sees upping clozapine as a last resort?

I'm on 1200mg lithium, 100mg clozapine and 6mg fanapt. I had a mild breakthrough episode the other day and asked him if we could up the clozapine because I'm always living my life scared that another episode is going to happen. He said I should use my coping skills and strengthen my mind and willpower rather than just wanting to up the clozapine because that will only come with more side effects. But for me, if upping the clozapine means no more breakthrough episodes then I want to try it.

What do y'all think?

How to handle weight gain from meds without switching or going on a GLP-1?

I'm schizoaffective bipolar type. I got switched from Vraylar to Fanapt in addition to being on Clozapine and Lithium. My meds are working but I'm gaining weight because it's increasing my hunger. How can I handle this? I don't want to switch meds nor do I want to go on a GLP-1.

Can I live a fulfilling life with this condition?

Is there hope for people with this condition? Being able to work full time, fall in love, have a family, go to school and finish a degree? Move out?

I don't want to live the rest of my life life reliant on my family for the things that I need. I love working, it gives me purpose. But when my symptoms flare I can't. I have always taken my meds and I've been in therapy for almost a year now.

Anyone else feel like they can barely eat anything on 1200 cals per day?

I'm 4'11" and 138.6lbs. My goal weight is 115lbs. I've been keeping my calories to 1200 per day now especially because I haven't been as active and on my feet each day.

With 1200 calories per day, I tend to only be able to eat 2 meals and a snack. And I'm not just eating processed foods, I try to eat eggs and protein, get my vegetables in and such. And if I want to eat out, forget it lol because portion sizes are huge at restaurants and filled with so many calories.

Am I just doing it wrong? I used to eat 1600 cals per day but I learned that at 4'11" that's probably basically maintenance for me or super close to it. I want to be able to eat food, but also don't want to take forever to lose the weight. Any advice?

Do people in public make fun of you for being schizophrenic?

I am schizoaffective. A lot of times when I have episodes I hallucinate that people are making fun of me out in public or at work. Could this have any semblance of truth to it or is it just my delusions? Can people tell you are schizophrenic by just looking at you? It troubles me a lot.

Do people make fun of you for being sick? Have people made fun of you before?

Part of my hallucinations and delusions are that people are making fun of me when I am actively having an episode. I really hope it's not true but it seems super true when I'm having them. Anyone else experience this?

Any women here struggling with watching porn? What can we do to stop once and for all?

I'm a woman in my early 20s and I've watched porn ever since I was 9 years old. I know it's not an excuse but it's hard having a higher sex drive; I just don't know where to healthily direct the sexual energy. It also feels so good to give in but then I feel sorry afterwards. I wonder how I'm supposed to navigate having a higher sex drive while being a single Christian. It seems like there's kind of no outlet for us. Not sure what to do after failing so many times.

How many of y'all do the run/walk method for exercise?

I have a ferritin level of 10 and it has greatly impacted my running. I am unable to see a hematologist for awhile because I don't have insurance right now. Is it a legitimate workout/ run if I just turn all my runs into run/walks? I don't have the energy to run the entire time because of the ferritin issue but I still want to run. I would love to be able to run 3 miles consistently and build up to more.

How many of y'all have gained weight on the medication you've been prescribed?

I've gained 25lbs in 2 years and just switched from Vraylar to Fanapt plus Clozapine which Fanapt is even more known to cause weight gain.

Anyone basically giving up on dieting?

I'm on psychiatric meds which have gotten me up to 140lbs at 4'11". Before I was put on these meds I was never higher than 115lbs. I was also a runner and athlete. I've tried dieting but there's always one thing that I want to eat that I just can't wait until tomorrow to eat so I eat it. It feels like dieting is unsustainable for me even if my caloric defecit is as high as 1600 or even 1800 calories. Can anyone relate?

Anyone else have super low ferritin levels kill their motivation and energy to run?

So it turns out having a ferritin level of 10 is what's causing my energy issues when running and making me getting back into shape go so slow. I've been taking liquid iron for the past week and tried to go for a run today, but my legs just had that familiar heavy and dull feeling so I quit the run and just walked. I've heard it takes 2-3 months to get ferrittin levels up so I might just quit running until then. Or forever lol.

How to not let my symptoms stop me from living life?

I was diagnosed with schizoaffective bipolar disorder 5 years ago. Since then, I've been hospitalized numerous times but also the symptoms have gotten better over the years. I still experience bouts of paranoia, hallucinations and depression but they are milder than they were in the past.

How can I learn to continue to live my life and go to work even when my symptoms flare? Does anyone have examples of going through episodes or having bad symptoms but continuing to go out, go to work and live life successfully? Cause I can't always count on medications working perfectly for me and even with medications most of us have flares some of the time.

Anyone lose weight on 2000 cals per day?

I'm 4'11" 139 lbs and my goal is 115. My past efforts to lose weight have failed because I let myself get way too hungry and then binge. I want to try to be ok with slow weight loss so I upped my calories to 2000 a day. Part of me is like it doesn't matter if the weight loss is slow as long as I'm still losing. Should I try to make my deficit smaller though? I just get so hungry ☹️. I have a really active job where I'm on my feet exercising everyday plus I run sometimes (which I'm trying to run more often).

Anyone on fanapt?

This is basically a last resort medication for me as all other meds have basically stopped working. Does anyone have positive experiences on this medication?

Does changing the time you take Clozapine affect the blood levels?

I changed taking my 100mg clozapine from bedtime to 5pm because I have to wake up early in the mornings for work. I started this earlier this week. Yesterday I had a mild manic episode. I was completely aware of it but it was there. Could this have any relation to me taking the Clozapine now in the afternoon/ early evening vs at bedtime? If so, will my body adjust to the new time?

▲ 14 r/work

I'm a former college student who has worked many different retail jobs in the realm of 3-6 months. I always tend to find something I don't like about the job and then leave, such as them not giving me enough hours or my bosses or the way the place is managed. How can I end the job hopping? And how do people end up staying at jobs for years on end?
