The more feedback I get, the less I'm convinced that more features are the answer.

I started sharing my project publicly a few days ago because I wanted honest feedback. One thing surprised me.

Almost nobody asked for new features. Instead, people kept talking about friction.

  • Too many steps. Too many notifications. Too much pressure. Too much complexity.
  • Now I'm starting to think that building a better productivity app isn't about adding more.
  • Maybe it's about removing more.

Has anyone else building software had a moment where user feedback completely changed the direction of your thinking?

One comment changed how I'm thinking about productivity apps.

Over the past couple of days, I've been asking people why they stop using productivity apps.

One comment really stuck with me:

"Life is messy, and there's no point in perfect streaks."

The more I think about it, the more I feel that many apps accidentally punish people for... being human.

Missing one day shouldn't make you feel like you've failed.

So now I'm curious:

Should productivity apps reward perfect streaks, or should they be designed around consistency even when life gets messy?

I'd love to hear how you think about it.

I don't think productivity apps fail because they're missing features.

After reading a lot of discussions about productivity apps, I noticed something interesting.

Very few people complain that these apps have *too few* features.

Instead, the complaints are usually:

• Too much setup.

• Too many notifications.

• Too much pressure.

• Another thing to manage.

So here's my question:

**What's the moment that makes you stop opening a productivity app?**

I think I asked the wrong question while building my app.

For months I kept asking:

"What features should I add?"

Yesterday, after talking to people here, I realized maybe I should have been asking:

"What makes people uninstall productivity apps in the first place?"

The answers surprised me.

Nobody asked for more features.

People talked about:

• Friction
• Burnout
• Notifications
• Feeling guilty
• Too much setup

Now I'm questioning some of my own design decisions.

So I'd love to hear from you.

If you could remove one thing from every productivity app, what would it be?

If productivity apps were RPGs, what feature would you add?

Imagine your productivity app was a real RPG.

You complete tasks.
Gain XP.
Level up.
Unlock new abilities.

What feature would make it even more fun?

Personally, I love progression systems because they make small daily wins feel meaningful.

Curious to hear your ideas!

Building a gamified productivity startup: I need your help finding Product-Market Fit. 📈

Hi everyone! The current productivity space is broken. We rely on boring timers that don't offer long-term motivation. To solve this, I’ve been bootstrapping a startup called Ghost Mode.

Our core thesis is simple: If we treat deep work like an RPG, user retention and focus will skyrocket. Instead of a standard Pomodoro clock, our MVP (Minimum Viable Product) introduces a complete ecosystem:

  • Core Loop: Focus Sessions backed by deep Analytics & Heatmaps.
  • Gamification Engine: Daily Missions, XP & Level System, Market, and a Battle Pass progression.

Right now, we are in the critical phase of finding our Product-Market Fit. I am not here to hack growth metrics or get vanity downloads. I want to build a product driven by real user data.

I need your strategic advice as early adopters:

  1. Where does the onboarding or UX feel heavy/confusing?
  2. Does the reward system actually incentivize you to return on Day 7?
  3. If you had to pivot or streamline this app, which feature would you deprecate entirely?

Test the MVP here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghostmode.app

Your feedback will directly dictate our next development sprint. Thank you!

Ever wish you could level up in real life? 🎮

For the past few months, I’ve been secretly building Ghost Mode—an app designed to make deep focus actually addictive.

I was tired of staring at lifeless, boring Pomodoro clocks. So, I turned productivity into a game. Instead of just watching minutes tick by, you:

  • Complete Daily Missions & earn XP
  • Collect Gold to spend in the Market
  • Unlock rewards through a Battle Pass progression
  • Analyze your evolution with Heatmaps & Focus Analytics

I’m not here to artificially inflate my download numbers. I need your brutally honest feedback to evolve this app.

If you try it, tell me: What feels clunky? What would actually make you open it again on Day 7? Is there a feature you would kill entirely?

Go Ghost. Level Up. Let me know what you think!

Ready to enter Ghost Mode? 👻

Standard focus timers are boring. I spent the last few months building an app that rewards your real-life grind with video game mechanics.

Meet Ghost Mode: A productivity tracker featuring Daily Missions, an XP/Leveling System, a Market, and even a Battle Pass.

I'm looking for testers who aren't afraid to be brutally honest. I don't just want downloads; I want to know:

  1. What feels confusing?
  2. What keeps you hooked (or makes you leave)?
  3. What should I remove completely?

Try it on Google Play here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghostmode.app

Drop your feedback below. Let's build the ultimate focus app together!

Did I overcomplicate my own app? I really need some advice. 🤔

Hi everyone. For the past few months, I’ve been working on a focus app called Ghost Mode.

Standard Pomodoro timers always felt a bit too boring for me, so I tried to make productivity feel like an RPG game. I ended up adding things like XP, Daily Missions, a Market, and even a Battle Pass progression alongside the standard focus analytics.

Now, I’m stepping back and wondering: Is this too much?

I really need some outside perspective before I go any further. I'm not looking for vanity downloads; I genuinely need your suggestions to shape the roadmap.

  • Does the gamification feel confusing or overwhelming?
  • Which of these features would you completely remove?
  • What’s the one thing that would actually make you want to use this daily?

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghostmode.app

Any advice, harsh critiques, or suggestions would mean the world to me right now. Thanks!

I built a gamified Pomodoro app, but I need your advice on what to do next. 🛠️

Hey guys, I’ve been working on Ghost Mode—a productivity app that rewards your focus time with XP, Daily Missions, and a Battle Pass.

I've been staring at the code for months, so I've lost my objectivity. I really need fresh eyes and honest suggestions from this community.

  • Are the RPG elements (Gold, Market, Levels) actually motivating, or just distracting?
  • What is one thing you would change immediately after opening it?

Google Play link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghostmode.app

I’m all ears for your suggestions. Don't hold back, I want to build something that actually solves the focus problem!

u/Emreyldz2620 — 9 days ago

I got so bored of standard Pomodoro timers that I built my own... with a Battle Pass.

Hi everyone! I’m the solo dev behind Ghost Mode.

The problem with most focus apps is that staying productive feels like a chore. I wanted to build something where hitting your focus goals actually feels rewarding.

In Ghost Mode, your focus sessions fuel your progress. You earn XP, level up your Agent Profile, and unlock Market items while tracking your real-life productivity through weekly heatmaps. It’s productivity, but gamified.

I'm currently in the beta-testing mindset. I don't care about vanity metrics or empty downloads right now—I want to know if this actually works for you.

  • What’s confusing during your first session?
  • What would make you stick with it after the first week?
  • Which feature feels completely unnecessary?

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghostmode.app

For the test, you can use this codes:

GHOST7XP (+250 XP & +50 Gold)

CYBR5TQ8 (+1500 XP & +150 Gold)

ECLP4S6V (+5000 XP & +250 Gold)

Every single critique helps shape the next update. Thank you!
