I think PGP YL is not the program for me.

Okay, to give some context. I'm coming from a tier 3 college, or maybe even beyond that I aspire to get into Bulge bracket consultancy or product. But from what I have heard from first batch (Although they did not State is outright) But I just observed this thing for consultancy, that they are preferring only from tier one university. Be it IIT, NIT, DU or thapar or something like this.

Now point to be noted, not at all. I'm saying They are not capable, or they are not eligible, not at all. But the point that I am trying to raise here is, even if I give my best If there is even a 1% chance that they are going to select on the basis of University, I'm not ever going to get into it

So what should I do here? Should I just get a job? Do exceptionally well in my job. And then either come back to isb pgb yl or directly isb pgp But here are the risks that I think:-

  1. The pgp wire programme is the latest one. Till now, they don't have the official placement stats. Because of which the The competition is still limited I would say. But once the placement stats are Publicly available. The competition would Significantly difficult than what it is right now.
  2. Even if I do my job very well, and then I join pgp the highest chance to get into Consultancy is I still think would be PGP YL. Just an assumption from the internship

3.Though, as I have already stated, I can still join PGP YL after maybe 20 months of experience or so. But still Is 20 month enough to actually create an impact because The first year. Would be the training? Then what 8 months. I don't think it is sufficient time to do something actually impressive there

So what should I do Am I going to stuck with it Tier 3 job now. Just what should I do? I just dont get it

My profile just in case.

  1. 8/8/9 -- Tier 3 Uni
  2. One technical internship in a drone startup was not able to do much of things. Second in a remote US based startup Involved in marketing Operations Overall scrum. Complete project management. Also, some exposure to product management. Also had significant impact. Overall
  3. Utility patent filed on a project that I It is already published by the Indian Patent Office. The design patent is under review. Most probably I am going to get it
  4. Two times state level speaker in state Legislature Assembly

** Please ignore any weird punctuation or inconsistent error that you see. I'm voice tapping

**TLDR: Reportedly or assuming top companies who come to PGP YL focus significantly on the University tier, I stand no chance there, what should I do? a job come back Then do pgp YL but not enough time to. Make a significant impact. Second choice Do pgp but Then overall difficulty just increases

Is my internship useless??

I'm at 3rd year student in a tier-3 college. Right now, I'm doing remote internship (US based) Right now, my work is involved in these things.
-- Scrum master Coordinating across all the different products. Managing 20 something people In a dashboard.
-- Sometimes to a product demonstration(Not directly to clients, but rather To the senior members, so they can Demonstrated to the clients). Take all the feedbacks and everything Then assign it to the team. Then again, the same thing. Track it. And updated to the founder
-- I am also involved in the marketing part. But the thing is, this startup that I am working in is Still, in Pre launch phase. So the product itself is not actually ready. So as of now, I have been just able to coordinate with some freelancers, make some advertisement videos, prepare scripts Also make some demo videos, which can be shown in presentation, working with in house video editors that we have.
-- I'm soon also going to start operating the job portal part I would be working with another person, but major work would be mine Take all the jds, upload it in the job portals Make some employee on boarding etc and all these things.
-- Now, these were some specific things. Now, if I talk about some rather miscellaneous things that I do, that will include. Handling all the meetings, keeping track of all the product teams And sometimes make some recommendation towards the product itself.

Now that was about who I was and what I'm currently involved in now, I have a specific concern here I am actually trying to break into the product management.
But the more time pass I think this internship Is useless. It is more like a project Management type of thing I am not actually learning any skill which is very much transferable. I just think like it. Though let's say if I'm getting another intensive in something similar. Now I know how to track things How to dissolve conflicts how to do the marketing part and etc. But still I just still think I'm not learning anything which is Actually useful, or can be actually useful for someone who will actually hire me. Let us nothing transferable here. There is nothing Exclusive about it Or is it me thinking in a wrong perspective here?

It would be very grateful If I could get some Feedback

Also, just wanted to know, what should be the title of my internship here? And what should I So myself, what skills should I show that? Yes, this is the skill I know. I could be able to work in this industry

**Sorry for all the spelling mistakes and Weird punctuations or anything that you're looking at it. I'm voice typing

**TLDR: I dont know if the internship that I am doing is useful or not. I just don't think my skills are transferable. Its more lack of a basic, low level management that I am doing. I want to break into product

ISB PGP YL Profile Review –  B tech

 3rd yr, Mechanical, Tier 3

Profile = 87/89/9.47 (pretty confident it will be 9 till end)

Internships:
- Drone startup (Technical - 4 months)
- NJ based real-estate startup (Marketing and product management intern - 4 months)

  • Drove early-stage product validation for 3 AI products by identifying target users, defining use cases, and shaping go-to-market direction in collaboration with founders.
  • Owned cross-functional execution across a 20+ member team by tracking progress, identifying bottlenecks, and proactively allocating tasks to maintain delivery timelines.
  • Led stakeholder-facing product demonstrations, synthesizing feedback into actionable insights and working directly with engineering teams to refine features, UI/UX, and overall product experience.
  • Designed and executed targeted outreach strategies by building a structured CRM of 250+ leads and also worked with editors and designers for scripting for ad purposes?

Extracurriculars:
- 2xState level speaker, Gave speech in state Legislature Assembly.
- Made a project on robotic hand and filed patents for it. Utility is published by Indian Patent Office and for design safe to assume it will be granted.
- Won technical Competitions like ideathons and some other like MUNs, but nothing state or national

Career Goals:
- Move into product or consultancy

Concerns:

  1. I just don't think my profile is still good enough. I don't know if I should even apply in this program or not. Or should I just go for the work experience and then apply
  2. What can I do more should I work on some high end project Which would be like good to sew. But still, I would have actually done some work there. Or should I jump on another internship, But I also need to prepare for my gmat

I would be really grateful if you went through this and gave me some suggestions. And some answers from my concern.
Thank you for taking your time out for me.
