i think i’ve officially solidified my new everyday half wig 😍!

so this is the outre quick weave half wig stunna qsstu in color 1! it's about 24 inches long and i honestly, wasn't expecting to like it THIS much lol.

the texture has a soft blown out yaki feel that blends reallyyy well with my natural 4C hair, so it doesn't have that obvious “wig shine”.

it's full without being too much, super lightweight, and i didn't have any issues getting it on. also i’ve had this unit for almost a month, and there’s been ZERO tangles or shedding so far which is impressive! definitely beginner friendly if you're new to half wigs since you only need a little leave out 🙂‍↕️

overall i'm really happy with it! and i can already tell this is gonna be one of the ones i keep reaching for 👏🏾

1 year later….

For reference, I have androgenic alopecia, that was triggered after coming off of birth control. My hair thinned severely during the 2 years of the birth control (2022-2024) and the shedding happened 3-4 months after stopping (stopped feb 2025). I shed for about 8-9 months…and it’s been a year and some months since stopping birth control. I did have telogen effluvium, but TE unmasked AGA. I know this because I went to 3 dermatologists. All of them diagnosed me differently, so I gave up trying to figure out what it was, and dived into trying to grow my hair back. I did get blood work done and all my labs were normal, except for my insulin resistance, which was high. I do have PCOS, which can cause AGA in itself.

I’ve tried everything from Viviscal, Ketoconizale shampoo, caffeine shampoo, pumpkin seed oil, saw palmetto, derma stamping, rosemary tonic, prayers, candle offerings, and Etsy witches. Yes, I was desperate.

I gave in and started topical minoxidil in February of this year, went with growplex and it’s great, but pricey. I did experience another dread shed about 4 weeks in and then it kind of stopped. I switched over to a prescription topical solution that contains: minox, finesteride, tretinoin, and spiranolactone. This is all topical. I do have a dog, but I’m very careful when applying solution.

I am currently on my second bottle of Mary Ruth’s hair grow max, and pumpkin seed oil every other day. I still am derma stamping 2x a week, and I’ve also added GHKCU and AHKCU topical serum and subq injections for a month or two, but stopped the subq injections. I am on a GLP for insulin resistance. I try to wash my hair every day alternating with caffeine shampoo, rosemary shampoo, ketoconizale (2x a week), and clarifying shampoo. Condition ends with leave in conditioner and spray rosemary tonic when I can.

I am trying to be better about my diet and I weight train 3x a week to address IR. I am also taking inositol supplement, vitamin d, and zinc. However, the Mary Ruth has a lot of these vitamins, so I’ve not been taking anything additional.

My hair is still thinning a lot at the crown and I can see my scalp. Restroom lighting is terrible. I see a lot of miniaturization, and still shed about 20-30 hairs in the shower every day.

I can’t tell you what exactly has helped and what exactly hasn’t because I have just thrown everything I can at my hair, desperately trying to keep what little strands I have left. I have lost about 50% density and I am still able to see my scalp through my hair. I’ve taken lots of pictures, but honestly, they don’t help. Sometimes, it looks like I have progress, and other times, I see like my part is widening. Just recently, I blow dried my hair at the root and saw all the little patches of hair coming in. These are the photos of tonight. I encourage you all to do the same.

This hasn’t been easy and I’ve cried so much in the last year. Hair loss is a bitch. Wishing everyone best of luck on their journey.

Progress over Procrastination!!

Welp my journey continues of UnFing my top floor!!! I should have taken a picture of the bottom floor in all its glory of junk! But I did finish the following: formal living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. YEY ME!!! I think I previously posted my kitchen table a few months back.

I did take one of the top. 3 days of folding laundry that was in black plastic construction project bags.
NEXT UP: my walk in closet, my home office and my wardrobe room… then the garage and my storage unit.
But let’s celebrate 🙌 this win! Slow and steady wins the RACE!!

Queens 👸 And Their Crowns 👑; Our Crowns, Our Legacy 👑✨

Our Crowns, Our Legacy 👑✨

Look at this photo — generations of beauty, pride, and power. Every curl, coil, and afro in this image tells a story of identity, resilience, and joy.

Black hair has always been more than style — it’s history, artistry, and self‑expression. It’s how we show up, how we resist, and how we remind the world that our crowns are sacred.

From twist‑outs to locs, from protective styles to bald heads, our hair carries the spirit of those who came before us — women who stood tall, even when society tried to shrink them.

Today, we honor them.
We honor ourselves.
We honor every crown that’s been cut, covered, regrown, or reclaimed.

Our hair is not just hair — it’s heritage. It’s power. It’s us.

👑 👑The crowns 👑 are crowning 👑👸Let’s celebrate our crowns 👑 as we walk this crown journey

Which style are we feeling? Or do y’all have other ideas for this headband wig?

Been playing around with a few different styles using headbands. Which one would y’all pick? And if you’ve got other styling ideas for a headband wig pls drop them because I’m trying to get the most out of this thing 😂

Managing shaved head and hair loss with a solution that works for me.

I used to have long, beautiful hair. It was like my security blanket. Shaving it all off was completely heartbreaking. But watching it thin and fall out in clumps while dealing with limited mobility left me few options. Daily grooming became too difficult to keep up with due to my disability, leaving me physically drained and exhausted.

Having no hair is a sensory nightmare for me. It leaves me feeling constantly exposed and overstimulated. Anything that helps with my sensory issues and the physical struggle of grooming makes a big difference in my daily life.

I started wearing wigs after I shaved my head, and finding one right for my needs has been a journey. Having a very comfy wig helps me feel human again. It gives me my confidence back without draining my energy.

PSA: Don’t forget to protect your scalp from the sun!

Second picture is a comparison with my regular scalp color… I put on sunscreen but didn’t think to put any on my scalp and now it’s BURNT, ouch! Also, does anyone have recommendations for scalp-specific sunscreen?

I always hated greasy white sunscreen into my part so I usually use a parasol to protect myself from the sun, but I forgot to grab it this morning. I thought “Eh, I’ll be fine, I generally stay out of the sun anyway” and then proceeded to spend roughly an hour in direct sunlight.

So watch out! Our scalps are much more exposed than most people’s, so we have to remember to protect them from the sun! Wether it’s sunscreen, a parasol, or just wearing a hat, it’s really important!

2 months in, amazing results and I’m having a hard time getting used to my new look.

I have had traction alopecia for years. Bold spots that were filled in within two months(feb 18-April 18). I’m so happy with my results but I have a new look. The one where I actually have hair and I look so different. For a long time I thought I had the legendary East African forehead. A picture on Google Photos from when I was 17 is what jolted me back to reality. I have those thick and glorious eyebrows that I used to dream about and used makeup to fill in but I can’t help but feel self conscious about it when no one around me looks like that. My hairline is still filling in but so far so good. I plan on using minoxidil for the rest of my life. Is this an original experience or has anyone else looked so completely different after the hair filled in that they can’t recognize themselves in the mirror? How long did it take to adjust?

Can we please stop braiding so tight? Like fr?

Edit: updated my review and finding a dermatologist ugh gaahhhlyyy
I asked for schmedium knotless boho braids 6 days ago. I just took down a low-tension updo I had on and was looking closely in the mirror. I’ve been trying to gaslight myself into thinking it wasn’t that bad but I would say about 1/3 of my hair has been ripped out of my scalp. Every box looks like the front btw. Back, middle and don’t get me started on the nape. I still have blisters.

I can literally see the raised follicles where my hair used to be as my hair is starting to grow. I’ve always had super thick hair, like every follicle on my head active and thriving. I used to braid my own hair ever since the quarantine and stopped last November because it was just too much to do. I never braided my hair tight enough to cause damage cause I’ve always had long nails until recently. But I was okay with my hair looking old because at least it was protective. We all know how quickly a protective style can lose its purpose when done too often or too tight. But this is ridiculous. These pics I’m going to include y’all can tell what was before and after but just incase, black hair w beads: when I braided my hair, parts are big and ugly ik but this was the last time I did it myself and I was tired 😭
Red hair: professionally done, didn’t even really notice much different besides a cleaner look and maybe some edges gone.
BLACK AND BALDHEADED: got it done by someone else last week

Pulled sm out the actual braids look like micros and the breeze im feeling on my head isn’t cute anymore.
What’s makes me so sad is just knowing what I used to have and the work and time it’s gonna take to get back what I had.

10 months on minoxidil

First photo is the before in July 2025 and second and third photos are after 10 months.

I have been feeling a bit down on the progress but side by side I am seeing a difference, it's just a lot slower than progress I've seen on other women. I shed a lot in the first few months and it terrified me, but I kept going. At one point I had so much regrowth I couldn't wear my hair up because it stuck out so much. I've now started to add a nizoral shampoo a couple times a week to see if that helps as well. I bought a derma roller but for some reason have been finding it difficult to add to my routine and keep up with it.

Will take tips and advice as well if anyone has any suggestions. At the moment I shampoo daily (oily hair), condition, and apply minoxidil before bed. I don't use any other products.

Excuse the flecks in my hair - that's just paint that won't come out lol

Just wanted to show the lace on this one

It’s HD lace and I melted it down with some melting spray + a wig band. I left the band on for a while and honestly I’m really happy with how it turned out 😭 The lace blended way better than I expected. I did some braids myself too!

[Video] 🤷‍♀️Why Your 4C Hair Isn’t Growing: A Hair Coach Exposes Everything Nobody Told You! 🤷‍♀️

This week Joyce sits down with Enitan for the most important hair conversation Black women have been waiting for. This is not another wash day tutorial. This is the science, the truth and the uncomfortable realities about why our hair is not growing — and what we can actually do about it.

Enitan breaks down the difference between a hair coach, a hair stylist and why knowing which one you need could change everything for your hair journey. She then opens up about her own relaxer journey and gets into the real conversation about whether relaxers should be eradicated entirely — including the hormonal damage most women are never warned about.

This is the episode we have been waiting for!!
Share your thoughts 💭 below 👇⬇️! Let’s talk about it.

Hey y’all, summer’s basically here and I’m trying to figure out my next look I’m planning to go out and take some pics tomorrow, but I’m stuck on one thing… Should I keep it simple or add some baby hairs?

Also, do you think I should add some layers to it or just leave it as is?

so far I’ve actually been liking this wig. Even without fully melting the lace, it still looks pretty natural on me, and the lace around the temples helps it blend a bit better, which I appreciate.

It’s this one from luvme btw. curious what you all think, be honest pls!!

I took the plunge and did FUE. Post op day 1. I’m swollen, have some pain, and super sleepy, but I’m glad it’s done. 2,563 grafts transplanted to hairline and temples. The surgeon told me my donor site (back of head) is so thick and dense that some contained as many as 7 follicles.
