Aspiring comic writer (40ys old) with zero drawing skills. What’s my best move?
Hi,
I’m thinking about starting a screenwriting class this October. Meanwhile, I’m practicing my writing—I’ve always written, mostly short stories, and had a blog for 20 years - I’m taking notes on everything and setting up Scrivener.
I'm worried because I have zero drawing skills. The school said it’s fine for the screenwriting course, though. They have a huge community full of artists who don't write, so it's a great "hunting ground" (quote from the teacher) for writers. But I’m not sure if I can afford to pay an artist for my story.
Should I just draw my own stories? Better to take a drawing class instead of screenwriting? Problem is, I’ve never been able to draw in 40 years. The absolute most I’ve done (10 years ago) was making these strips (sorry, stupid dad jokes in italian) by hand (and Paint) for my blog. I honestly can't see myself drawing realistic people or landscapes/background.
