If the afterlife is a widely known fact—and a good, pleasant one free from suffering—then why aren't things like mass suicides, attempts to wipe out all life, mass solitarity (driven by the fear of hurting someone and ending up in hell), and a widespread refusal to reproduce commonplace?

Marked NSFW just to be safe. What are your explanations? Because to me, it’s inexplicable; even in a system where the amount of happiness in the afterlife depends on the balance of good and bad deeds, most people still wouldn't want to have children, and there would still be mass suicides and there's woukd be no true kidness just oppurtunist to go to good side of afterlife .

Does anyone have any individual worlds or planets with 10 or more sapient species /races?

Does anyone have worlds like that? I know it gets crowded, but I'm familiar with a few such worlds myself, so I'm curious to see what other worldbuilders have come up with. Standard races count. Please give a description of each race( that 's includes apperance, lifespan, abilities, relations with other races. Can be very short( i.e four armed frogs bad relations with everyone because they are warlike) or long .

Is anyone creating a world that features elves and at least two other standard races besides humans—in a recognizable form?

I know there are at least eight, but are they exceptions? By "recognizable form," I mean having enough standard traits. I’m thinking of it as a spectrum (for lack of a better word—apologies if that offends anyone). Bear-folk with monkey tails or tree-bee humanoids with six arms aren't dwarves, even if they're short and stocky; nor are 7-foot wolf-folk fused with magical fungi, or ugly, ghoul-like albinos who feed on blood and rot, elves—even if they are long-lived and have pointed ears. I know some people might think otherwise. My point is simply that they should be recognizable to the average casual fantasy reader. Apologies if this offends anyone. Does anyone have worlds like that?

I’ve noticed that—from a biological standpoint—elves, centaurs, pixies mermaid-style merfolk, and (to a lesser extent) giants are a nightmare. Which other standard fantasy races do you think fall into this category?

I feel these races are a nightmare when it comes to maintaining a believable standard appearance fol8w rules if biology while keeping the "magical vibe." Elven traits don't really fit environments like forests, valleys; or underground realms( fur dark elves) centaurs are essentially two incompatible species fused together in the worst possible way; giants are slightly less problematic, though the larger they get, the harder they are to justify biologically. Mermaid-style merfolk—with human torso and a fish tail—are a total nightmare. Pxies ate bascalky tiny humans with insect wings their bodies coukdn't support themselves . Which other races do you think share these issues? EDIT: I forgot to mention fae. allergic to iron. But every vertebrate has iron in their bloodstream

Which premiese is more interesting and will likely get more readers that will stay?

1.story about moraly complex characters of different backgrounds fighting greater and more magical enemies final story arc culluminaying in saving whole world where most characters are either humans or gods or spirits and villains are often motivated by desire to make better world, avenge loved ones , feeling that current world need to burn to make way for better one grief over fallen civilisation, trauma . 2 story where magical races fight human empire with token humans heres .ends with human main character conquering human empire and becoming it's king and restorefaith in gods of light . Villains are motivated by fanatism into "one true god " that is in fact evil god but bith this villains and evil god have moments of empathy and humanisation and doubt and heroes sometimes make morally questionable or oythright evil decisions ( including killing civillains, abonding last dozen members of one race to death to save race with better chances at survival). For first I only have basuc idea for characters( including religious assasin who want to travel the world, viking like warrior with artistic side , mage withow self easteem , 4'8 alchemist tgat is akso great cook, and very vague idea fir one antagonist ( they want to avenge neanderthal like human subspecies) . For second I have very basic only idea for races ( vampire like but immune to sunlight, werewolf like , goblin like but eusocial, one that is basically ugly thin wrinled but dwarves in behavior ). What likely sells better?

did two continents that are far away from each other on earth like planets that consist largely of savannas, river valleys, plains, semi-deserts, and wetlands and are bith tropical to arid are unbelievable ?

So, I want to create two continents: one that is more "African"—where humans originate—and another with a similar climate but much hotter (though still tropical), where elves come from. Would it be implausible for them to be far apart if both are located on the equator?

How do I overcome the fear of not being good enough and do what I want with my world?

To be honest, this subreddit, Tumblr, and certain internet users have devastated my desire to write stories. Because when they make monstrous or indistinguishable elves or say that non-humans are unnecessary, I feel like I can't use elves, even though I love them. I know it's not their fault. They have fun and that's goid. They are creative that's good. I simply feel like I'll never measure up to anyone, that no one will ever do what I want to create, and that I should discard non-humans, even though I don't want universes with humans. And I want human-like, non-humans. My possibly last summer (I have one semester left) is approaching. Family and social issues will likely drag on throughout the entire summer, so it's another blow to productivity because it's hard for me to do anything because of the sadness. I have no friends except one in another paradise, which is my own life and my own project. I feel like the constant downvotes on the internet are also destroying me. How can I do something productive? How can I simply overcome this fear of being myself? Should I just let it go? Give up?. I know I asked simillar things before I just feel hollow. I'm trying to be supportive to someone close to me, but I can't do it alone. so back to workdbuilding question: just hiw to create I'm going to love even with all my problems and" kill your darlings "rule ?

Are all kith, wilder, and dragons (except godlike and rathun) naturally evolved?

I'm asking because some kith (elves) and wilder (Vithrack) have certain traits that are unfavorable to survival (Vithrack have a very low birth rate. Elves don't fit into any biome , are thin and fast but long living smaller than humans byt proportionely build).

If your world has standard races like elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, halflings, etc. (or their equivalents) but no gods, how did these races come into being?

Was it evolution? Experiments? Magical manipulations? Something else?

Why is Homo sapiens the only slim species in the genus Homo? Please explain in simple terms.

So, all the other than sapiens Homo species I know of were stocky. So why are only Homo sapiens slim, and didn't it evolve anywhere else in our genus? I know that rare individual cases in other Homo species were slimmer than the average member, but still, most were stocky. Why? Please explain jn skmple terms because I'm bad at science

Are standard fantasy races in a recognizable form really that bad? Do they have to look uncanny or be alien in morality ?

I understand that "humans in disguise" can be tiring sometimes. But almost all versions of elves and dwarves I know are "humans in disguise" and look standard. I know that most people want some human character traits plus a few non-human psychological traits, but on the other hand, Witcher, Shannara, Arknights, Dungeon, Meshi, Frieren, Dragonlance have very human-looking facial expressions, who look and act very human, and are loved by audiences and critics. In all of them, elves and dwarves (except Arknights, because there are no dwarves [but it has durin]) have very standard appearances and personalities human like faces etc. In Frieren, only few changes were enough (how elves perceive time and how it affects their actions and interactions with other races). The rest is standard - and it sold about 35 million copies. So is it really a bad idea to use "humans in disguise" with the most standard appearance?

I have a few questions because I have fear of being bad at worldbuilding.

So I want to create an industrial fantasy world. I have an idea for a country ruled by dwarven nobility (high dwarves), as well as standard dwarves besieged by necromancers and bio-weapons, orcs created as weapons by dark magicians now trying to survive with their need for dark magic, halfling assassins, an elven empire (features of Rome, Japan, and the British Empire), and goblins wanting equal rights. Should I abandon my efforts to make them more than just humans in costumes and embrace it? Should I embracing elves evolved for magic if scientific evolution isn't working for me? Is it wrong to give non-human races traits of RL cultures? Is it a bad idea to give my races different biological needs if I want them to be distinguishable? What's the best way? I son't ask for making content for me because I don't want be banned. I just don't know what way choese and I'm in constant fear of not being good enought.

How many races can a fantasy world have?

I was thinking about my ideas for fantasy races. I was thinking about making Neanderthals-Dwarves. One Reddit user had both Neanderthals and dwarves. Deer-like elves. But some worlds have both deer folk and elves. Rabbit folk and goblins. But Sword World 2.5 has both rabbit folk and goblins. Ratfolk, Halfling Pathfinder, has rat folk, halflings, and vaguely halfling-coded dog folk. I was thinking about fae. But some worlds have both fae and elves. And then there are situations like a long-lived race of beautiful mages and a short-lived race of beautiful mages, werebeats and not werebests—but werebeasts (Sword World 2.5), maybe 4 or 5 merfolk races (RuneQuest), two races of humans connected to fire (Aurora webcomic), and 20 goblin races (Edge Chronicles). So what's the limit of races? As many as I want? Below 10? How many?

Why do people often create elves based on the sec Evo network or real-life biology tend to look un-elven or be evil ?

First, I want to say that I have nothing against these creators. I'm glad they're creative and have fun. But why do elves based on real-life biology often look more like beast folk than elves, or are brood parasites/predators that eat sapient beings/vampire-like/looking like monsters? Please explain this to me without using complicated terms, as I don't know much about science. Sorry if this is offensive.

People with very standard worlds (close equivalents of real-life cultures, elfs and dwarves, a magic system based on existing ones (maybe even elements, runes, and mana/ether), what do you think still makes you think you'll succeed, find an audience, and publish (or publish online)?

First of all, I don't want to offend anyone. I appreciate and I'm happy that creators have fun with their projects and have talent fir writing. It's just that many online builders prefer to use non-standard races and cultures or change the standard races until they don't even look standard (which damages my self-esteem a bit because I want my races to be as standard as possible). What makes you feel like you'll succeed? Any advice?

What are the relationships between your standard races? And do your standard races have the same colors of body as humans? Do they have any powers besides "this one lives longer, this one is stronger?"

By standard, I mean elves, humans, dwarves, orcs, goblins, gnomes, halflings, demons, angels, fae, kemonomini, beastmen etc., basically any race that isn't copyrighted. By the way. Wgat are their lifespans and height?

Does anyone have very standard elves? Is that a bad thing?

By very standard, I mean: pointy ears, slim, living for hundreds of years, dexterous, agile, magicaly gifted , two eyes, arms, hands, legs, feet. Mammals. They can be muscular, have non-human various skin, hair, and eye colors. They're not beast folk . Is it really a bad thing that I want my elves to be like them? And be divuded into wood high dark iron( industrial) Or should I give them very convoluted reasons why they are like that? Or should I start doing different elven cultures and it will happen on its own?
