Loader 1340 Weapon/Shield Rework Ideas

I'm probably the only person who played BL2 and was bothered by this but the shotgun/shield you get for completing the "Out of Body Experience" quest from Loader 1340 is a little disappointing. Considering what you're doing I expected the reward to be at least a little unique, but they don't even look different, just a reskinned blue rarity Hyperion shotgun or absorb shield with a voice. So here are my ideas for reworking this one quest reward that no-one else probably cares about:

Shotgun 1340:

Appearance-wise it's a projectile diversification shotgun but instead the paint job resembled an EXP-loader instead. Has half the magazine size of a regular shotgun but the last shot you fire shoots a grenade. Not a Tediore gun grenade, just an actual grenade that is affected by grenade mods. It's meant to copy how Gun-loaders sometimes throw grenades at you. Either this or the last shot is a piercing shock shot that loaders sometimes use when fighting you.

Shield 1340:

Again, it's a regular blue absorb shield with a EXP-loader paint job. Has the regular stats of a blue absorb shield, but upon depletion, you gain double movement speed for 2 seconds and after that an explosive nova happens around you. This is to copy the EXP-loaders themselves. Even makes the same sound effect.

I made these without really considering balance, more trying to copy what a loader does but as a gun instead. I figure they'd be cool but nothing really broken. At most shotgun 1340 on Gaige would be good because she'd basically endless spam grenades with a one shot gun but I can't think of anything else.

If Gearbox made another Pre-Sequel, explaining the backstory of the series, who would you want to see as a VH? What would you want to see?

What if for a BL3 Pre-Sequel you played as a bunch of bandits/mercenaries fighting for various corporations or the Twin Gods. You could have VHs based on specific enemies, maybe a Goliath Vault Hunter, or maybe a former member of the Dahl Lost Legion, or the New Pandora Legion, anything really.

What playstyle archetypes are still missing from Borderlands?

Title. Is there anything that we're still missing form the general pool of Vault Hunters that we have? We have heavy melee hitters, guys with endless bullet streams, mech summoning, having robot turrets, spellcasters, etc. Is there anything we're missing that you'd like to see become a Vault Hunter?

The two ideas I have right now is a hook character and maybe something DMC/Ultrakill inspired. I'm kinda surprised when I think about how Borderlands has never had someone with a simple hook/melee combo thing considering how common it is in shooters today. Just as simple as a skill tree around bringing enemies close to kill with a shotgun blast or melee followup, maybe with modifiers to make it do elemental damage, bring in multiple at once, create novas, etc.

As for Ultrakill/DMC I know we've had character bonuses for switching weapons fast but what about someone whose entire character was built on that, not just a skill tree, and each skill tree just focused on a different aspect of combos/score? Maybe they could have a score meter that with greater score the more damage they deal, so they'd be running around, switching constantly, using melee, sliding and slams for damage, etc.

Some of these ideas are probably better than others but I'm sure someone out there has better ideas than me. What do you think?

How do you fight the Badassoraus properly?

I played the Torgue DLC and I ended up not even fighting the robot T-rex or the entire boss for that matter. All I did was camp behind cover and cycle between a bunch of corrosive weapons and Moxxi guns over and over. The hail let me cheese the cover and I used the Pimpernel to snipe when I could. Is this how I'm supposed to fight the boss? This was in UVHM for context if that matters.

Any cool overhaul mods to play with?

I'm gonna start a new playthrough on Aurelia after playing through on Athena, mostly to see what's so different about her in BL TPS and BL3. But yeah are there any cool overhaul mods to make the game play a bit different?

Any cool overhaul mods to try out?

I'm thinking of starting a fresh playthrough or maybe augment one of my already existing ones. Any cool mods to overhaul the game in some way? Seeing all the changes made is always cool.

When to do DLCs for UVHM?

First time doing DLCs for UVHM. I just did the Pirate DLC on TVHM and I wanted to keep going but I realized I had already reached the max level for the DLC and that I wouldn't get any good rewards so I decided to go to UVHM. I really wany to play the other DLCs but should I save them for after the main story? Can I play them but skip specific quests to get specific gear? Any campaigns I shouldn't play at all?

My takes on Ava

I'm currently playing through BL3 on Zane after playing as FL4K and I've cringed more at Ava's lines but honestly given context they aren't really unrealistic.

I mean, Ava is like what, 13, 15 years old? No wonder she sounds like a cringe kid. She is. She's a teenager with little experience being a Vault Hunter without the maturity of age and is buzzing with excitement from the stories Maya told her. It isn't exactly uncommon for teenagers to blatantly ignore their teachers or caretakers to seek thrills.

When she later lashes out at everyone when Maya does and blames everyone else I didn't feel pulled out much because that's probably what a teenager who just watched her foster mom die would react. Teenagers don't exactly have the best emotional control, and Ava is likely deflecting to avoid the potential of her being responsible for basically her foster mom's death, especially after potentially running from her original family's death as well.

What IS the problem is how the rest of the narrative reacts to this. It's perfectly fine to have flawed characters in a setting, in fact it's encouraged, but what separates a character who goes through development and a Mary Sue is how they are treated by the overall story. If even one character told the player that yes, Ava is being a massive brat, but it's kinda expected she wouldn't react well to all this, then it'd feel less frustrating. To me at least the frustrating part could be a lot more excusable if other characters felt the same way, but also acknowledged that things aren't exactly normal.

Another problem is that she lacks character development. After Maya died inadvertently at her hands after she has had time to process she should have been told that if she acts rashly again, she WILL get someone else killed. Over the course of missions and dialogue she could learn responsibility and understand her actions and this could make her getting Maya's powers more learned. TL:DR, Ava being a teen isn't a problem, it's the fact she isn't parented.

If BL1 got a remake, what would you most like to see in it?

Aside from adding gameplay stuff from future games like yellow healthbars for armored enemies I want to most see customized dialogue and responses from TPS. Hearing NPCs specifically address your character in those games was really cool and made it feel more immersive than everyone just addressing you as Vault Hunter and that's it.

Lilith for example isn't the first Siren in lore, but probably the first Siren Vault Hunter and since Pandora wouldn't be super famous at this point it'd be neat hearing everyone be surprised about it. Ned could ask to examine the tattoos while T.K. Baha could say she has a different smell to her. For Roland hearing people bring up the Crimson Lance to him and how he left it all behind or is ashamed about it would really flesh out his character in that game since from his lines he's kinda a generic soldier. Even just showing people being kinda scared of Brick at first or asking where Mordecai got Bloodwing from would be neat.

I heard that the reason we don't have custom dialogue since TPS is because there's a lot more characters than before and it'd be expensive but BL1 is a lot smaller in scale and shouldn't be TOO hard to have that happen. Besides, you'd only really need the important NPCs to say something about it.

Another thing is a potential tie-in to how wacky the guns get later on. As we know starting BL2 onwards guns would get crazier gimmicks as time went on. In-lore this is probably from gun manufacturers innovating over time so it wouldn't make sense for all the crazy stuff like exploding guns or whatnot to be there in BL1, but to potentially not just have guns that are relatively samey compared to later on you could have sidequests in the game where some branches of these megacompanies ask you to "product test" some guns, like the first Tediore throw to reload gun or the first Hyperion focus-over-time gun. Plus you could have some familiar faces show up here in their earlier state.

Are the Playthrough 2 SDUs worth it?

I'm playing through BL1 playthrough 2 on Brick and I get to Sledge's safehouse where the first Claptrap is and the SDUs are apparently RNG. Are the backpack upgrades after playthrough 1 even worth it? I usually try to keep my backpack as empty as possible and sell whatever non-unique non-legendary guns I have and even then I sell legendaries that don't seem fun to use. Is it worth the constant alt+f4 to get the backpack upgrades?

Tips for doing the lab?

I was never really good at DW before the massive update so I never did lab so I don't know how much of it is new. I do know the lady with the teleporter is new but I don't know much else about changes to the lab. Any tips for doing it? I rushed it with some other guys on night 10 but I couldn't reload my SPAS or use my heals in time and died. I was running Tickspider for context.

Is Borderlands 4 worth getting?

The price is quite high compared to the previous games (I bought the entire series up to 3 in one big Steam sale) and I hear that the writing is eh but the characters are cool. Should I just wsit for the developer cycle to be over so I don't have to purchase more DLCs? What are the pros and cons?

Why do people say that BL1 has the best atmosphere?

Maybe I missed out on things and I DID start with BL2 technically even if I didn't finish it at first, but I don't understand what people mean when they say BL1 has the best atmosphere and writing. I'm going to be mostly talking about the base game but for me BL1 was really hard to get into after BL2. I kinda had to force myself so I feel like I understood the game. This is going to be very opinion based and if you like BL1 that's fine but I do have questions.

When people atmosphere, do they mean music? The general sound? The environment? Because to me they all feel very same-y especially compared to later entries. The music I got bored of fast and I can still hear the same strings in my head from it playing over and over. Especially when in later entries there's different soundtracks for different environments and different battle themes depending on who you happen to be fighting. Sound I didn't pick up on anything, and to me going through endless desert after endless desert with little to no variation felt, again, really boring.

The story itself is OK. Not much happens story wise, all that really happens is you being pointed in the direction of multiple bandits to go kill and eventually take their vault key pieces. The end DOES get more interesting and the DLCs are certainly much more interesting but base game wise it doesn't feel like it compare to the other games. It's just OK for me.

And most of all to me that really made me feel bored and felt like I was ticking stuff of the list is the lack of life most NPCs have. Anyone that isn't an important character has the same, like two models copy pasted everywhere with one dialogue line if you bother to interact with them and they snap to your camera like a, well, security camera. They don't even move. They just stand there and act as questgivers sometimes.

Same with quests. Some quests later on have dialogue with them where the person explains their job or problem and it helps feel like you're helping people rather than just ticking down a to-do list. You might be doing the same thing but if I'm going to go around shooting things I'd rather do so hearing Tiny Tina explain how they stole her stuff or Jack say he's glad he didn't have to pay them.

If I had to make a metaphor it's like going to a carnival except you are all by yourself. There is literally no-one else there. Sure the rides are fun and collecting all the spare coins and trinkets people left behind is cool but it's like where all the ride operators and other park guests would be instead there are scarecrows with little voice box recorders that play one line if you interact. Compare this to something like BL2 which feels a lot more like you went to the same carnival except you brought your entire class with you. Sure you don't always have someone but just meeting characters in places is nice.

Also Claptrap was the most annoying voice-wise in this game. YES I KNOW I HAVE QUESTS STOP.

Again, I don't mean to be rude, but it feels like I might be missing something here.

When do you typically start a new playthrough on another character?

Title basically. I've played through BL1, BL2, TPS and BL3. When would you typically start a playthrough on another character vs continuing to the post game and DLCs and everything?

Anyone find it weird we don't have Stadium achievements?

And I don't mean "use this build and get an achievement" when Stadium first launched or "get to this rank achievement" we have now. I mean actual achievements that are centered around doing something cool and getting rewarded for it. Stuff like:

- Thought you were out of reach? = [Using flying charge as Reinhardt, pin a flying enemy]
- Out of darkness = [Save a teammate by fading through them as Moira]
- The doctor is in = [As Soldier 76 kill 3 enemies with one use of biotic field]
- Breadwinner = [Get MVP 3 times in a row in one Stadium game]
- The path to the top is steep = [Play a Stadium game that lasts 7 rounds and win]

Nothing too complex, just achievements. If stuff like old PvE missions get achievements even though they aren't accessible most of the time, then I don't see why Stadium can't have achievements.

Does anyone know how to fix this

Basically I used a bunch of mods and had fun but even after I uninstalled everything, redownloaded the game and verified integrity files I get stuck at the woodcarver because no totems load in for some reason. For context I used the thunderstore mod manager for everything and I also used it to uninstall everything. Any idea what's wrong here or how to fix it?

What should be changed in the midseason update for Stadium?

We know the devs are actually paying attention to Stadium considering the start of the season, and we got a hotfix nerfing Reaper's wraith damage power. So what else is on the chopping block?

If they made uppercut base kit, what would do with Stadium Doom?

Hi I'm new here, sorry if I'm intruding on anything, I'm mostly a Stadium tank player at this point (I hate counterswapping). I know there seems to be a bit of a civil war about block vs uppercut but I'm mostly here to ask what could they do regarding Stadium Doomfist if they ever replaced powerblock with uppercut like Quake is suggesting. A lot of Doom's abilities in Stadium are based on block or empowered so I'm curious how that would work.

Stadium isn't against the idea of custom balancing so they might keep tank Doomfist as he is Stadium but that would be a bit weird to have completely different cooldowns. They have reworked Stadium kits around new cooldowns like with Reaper so they might have to make 3 new powers based on uppercut if they did that maybe. Again, I don't want to cause an argument about the future of Doomfist balance, heck a lot of you probably don't care about Stadium, but I'm still curious I just want to ask what they'd do with him there if they did make uppercut base kit.

How useful is Sigma's float punch actually?

I know it's meant to counter Reinharft and AP JQ but if I face those I usually just grab the more common fluxes to get more of them and combined with Sigma's crazy damage (and sometimes healing) you can basically use your ult as a mobility tool and you can do crazy damage to them. If you miss, you'll get it back in a minute anyways. And you can make space by threatening to use it. Plus it'll help vs everybody else who isn't in your face. I understand what the devs were going for but this power feels super niche. Are there any use cases I'm missing?
