Doesn’t this guy have to yield to me?

Sorry for the double post. Video posted. I didn’t know I could post videos to Reddit.

Am I insane? I know that yield doesn’t necessarily mean stop but don’t I have the right of way here??

I’m going 45 in a 50mph zone bc of this curve and this idiot just decides to blow past a yield sign. How the he’ll?? No Florida plate driving in NJ. I guess thats why they have one of the highest insurance rates in the nation. End rant sigh

But seriously don’t I have the right of way???

How to see which locations have mazda miata?

I'm interested in purchasing a mazda miata but i'd like to see how i like the car when doing a longer drive IE 45 minutes to one hour to see if I can handle the crampedness. I doubt the car sales people will want to do a 45 minute test drive and I don't blame them.

Is it possible to search by vehicle at locations near me?

I'm able to narrow it down by convertible at locations near me but it always says "ford mustang or similar". Is it even possible to see if I can get a miata 100%?

thank you!!

BMW 135i convertible vs ND2 miata vs 1st gen BRS/FRS/GT86

This is going to be my 2nd fun sports car but I want to be financially responsible and keep the payments as low as possible. I prefer to get a 60 month loan and invest the difference in index funds. I'd want automatic because I live in a very high traffic urban area and there are lots of big hills with bumper to bumper traffic on the big hills. I want to try the drive slow cars fast to maximize smiles per dollar without going to jail or hurting anyone.

2013 BMW 135i convertible - dealer ask 19k - 20k miles - perfect clean carfax 1 owner that changed oil every year at 1-3k mil intervals

2019 ND2 miata - dealer ask 28k - 20k miles - clean carfax with decent oil change service history at every 7k miles

2017 GT86 - dealer ask 28k - 7k miles - clear one owner carfax with 1 oil change in 9 years lol (oh well better than nothing. also possible owner changed it himself who knows)

Is the ND2/GT86 worth the additional 8-9k? From a pure driving perspective which is most engaging? I think the N55 in the BMW is decently reliable but not as reliable as the ND2? Or at these price points they'll be good driving experiences and it just depends on how much the additional cost is worth it to me personally from financial perspective?

thank you!!

how spirited am i allowed to drive the ND miata or BRZ/86 on a test drive? automatic only

I've already purchased a lexus LX570 from this carmax 18 months ago. I worked with 2 sales reps but theres no way they'll remember me.

How spirited am I allowed to drive these cars? I'd want the engine oil to warm up first but that takes around 10 minutes. I'd want to drive it hard in auto only mode so it doesn't red line.

Thank you!

Are boomers really ruining the future generations via deficit spending? Are they the only ones that will benefit from social security?

Sorry if these questions seem stupid but I'm 36 and recently discovered scott galloway. He goes on anti boomer rants sometimes and it has got my brain thinking -

  1. I did some research and roughly 80% of our social security tax goes to the retired. And all the retirees right now are all boomers. Can you really fault them for voting for politicians that won't make any cuts to social security? Aren't humans inherently selfish to a degree? I guess the counter argument is that even though boomers had the lowest median home prices, lowest barriers to entry (EX scott galloway says UCLA had a 75% acceptance rate in the 60's or 70s and good paying jobs), and lowest median wage to median home price, they STILL want a cut of the earnings of the young.

  2. Were boomers told to save for retirement? I know many had pensions but were they not told that a pension may not be enough? Right now we have so many well informed personal finance influencers that say that social security won't be there when we retire so we have to save X% of our income for the next 30-35 years and we will end up with X millions. Boomers were never taught this? It's not like they had no idea what inflation was. They lived through the 1970s and those gas lines!

  3. It does seem like all the monetary spending increases inflation which helps the people who already have assets (homes, stonks). And politicians love to spend money because that's the only way they get re elected. IDK what the exact number is but it feels like 25% of the US senate is over 65 and we have a few over 80. Why the hell won't they retire? Is this a selfish boomer trait or a selfish trait of politicians?

I always thought the younger generation had an obligation to take care of the older generation. I come from China where it is like that. But I suppose the nuance here is that the US boomers had it relatively easy yet they still want to plunder from the future generations and burden them with high debt and high inflation? That doesn't seem fair to me...

Is a 2015 Lexus LX570 too “showy”? Pretentious?

I guess this may sound hypocritical but I usually don’t care what people think but I do care if I come off as too “showy” or “try hard”. I don’t want to be “that guy”. I don’t want to be seen as pretentious/flashy. This is something I desperately try to avoid.

Everybody knows that Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota. Some people may know that Landcruiser is the top of the line Toyota. But what most don’t know is that a landcruiser commands a 15-20%+ premium on the used market over the comparable LX.

To others do you think having an LX signals “oh the top of the line Toyota isn’t good enough for this guy so he HAD to get a Lexus.”?

But in reality I’m frugal/cheap so if I can get pretty much the same car for 15% off on the used market hell yeah I’m gonna do that instead.

PS I’m not stealth wealth or trying to hide any wealth bc I’m pretty solidly middle class. I just wanted a reliable V8 Toyota. I love mine!

noob questions from curious porsche fan

Currently have a 2015 991.1 c2s but I can't ignore the depreciation and looks and value for taycans. I've entered the rabbit hole...sigh. I've always been against electric cars but I hurt my back recently and the 991 is just too low. I think I'm only into GT cars now.

just a few questions -

  1. if you have a turbo/turbo s - do you feel nauseous when trying the car? Throttle house did a quick review of a GTS and they said they felt nauseous in the turbo s but it felt fine in the GTS. I sometimes get motion sickness so I'd want to avoid this at all costs.

  2. I live in an apartment with no chargers but I live near a whole foods 5 min away that has charging. i'll only drive the car around 2k miles a year since i have a 200 series as my daily driver. Is it stupid to rely on only charging stations or just a PITA to deal with if you want the taycan? I see the range is around 200 miles and that'll probably last me 3 weeks per charge.

  3. will driving 2k miles a year hurt or help or be neutral to the battery? I feel like with ICE cars people say to drive it somewhat frequently to get the fluids and oils flowing through the system, etc

  4. or if i want bigger back seats should i just go for the etron gt rs? It seems like the audi has bigger back seats which are more helpful to me but i just love the look of the taycan more

  5. can i go to the dealer to ask them to test drive to see if i get motion sickness or is that too much to ask? maybe i'll ask the sales associate to drive first when i'm riding as passenger then we switch?

Thank you!!

Starts at 1 hour 36 min mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJg46CBOr8k&t=6115s

Graham first gives him a box of 6 and asks Nico if he can tell which are real or not.

First Nico is only allowed to look at the watches in the watch box without touching. Nico claims all are gen.

Next Graham allows Nico to take the watches out of the box and touch them and feel them. Nico still can't tell which are fake or not. Then says that all are real.

Finally Graham tells Nico that 3 are real and 3 are fake. Then Nico correctly distinguishes between the real and the fakes.

Really interesting that a watch expert like Nico can't even distinguish even when he's holding them. Sometimes the bracelets and loud movement noises are dead giveaways.
