Edith in Stoner is overhated.

Idc, Edith is overhated. She's a victim of an old tradition and "system". I love stoner and his story but he's a terrible husband. He rushes into marriage and makes a reluctant Edith accept his proposal. He then cheated on her, and continued to do so after being discovered. We are then shown the story through stoners own perception, which include Edith having some less than favorable qualities. Though it almost feels one dimensional...with her being completely manic and random at times. I know reddit loves stoner, but can't yall at least read between the lines, and think that maybe a book published in the 60s may be somewhat or slightly "misogynistic" (surprise surprise); siding towards the male main character's (Stoner) perception. And people who see Edith as someone so """completely""" detestable and devilish can't seem to wrap their head around a woman lashing out to keep her own sense of liberty that was reduced from beginning of the story when she got married to Stoner . Or it could also be a case of a male writer not knowing how to write a realistic woman.

It's like Skyler White in BB being hated for (other than "that" one time) being against her drug dealing husband. Walters the main character and sides towards his perspective, but it's great to take a look at the situation from other characters' perspective before demonizing them

I have just one Oxford world classic (yung bagong design/edition) and I find them to have more useful information and better feel compared to penguin black classics. Nabili ko lang siya sa Booksale and can't seem to find anymore any where? I really want to read classics in that edition. Thanks!
